Virtual numbers help this Latin American rental site track business

Zukbox is an online portal that offers places for rent in Latin America, where owners can list their properties to rent out to tourists travelling in the region. Founded in July 2011 by a group of Latin American entrepre-neurs, the company today has 100,000 listings in 16 countries including Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela, Chile, Colombia and Uruguay. In 2011, Zukbox was named one of the 20 most important startups in Latin America by Red Innova.

As the startup progressed and acquired customers, it came across two main problems. Firstly, property owners did not want to publicly publish their contact numbers, and secondly, Zukbox had no way of finding out how many leads it was helping generate for each house owner.

Virtual number

Virtual numbers to the rescue!To tackle these two problems, Knowlarity provided Zukbox with virtual numbers for each country, along with numeric codes, to make all listings unique.

For example, if John is looking for a place on rent in Brazil for this summer, he goes through Zukbox and finds the perfect house. He would now dial the virtual number assigned to this listing; an IVR would greet him and ask him for the numeric code corresponding to the place (also provided in the listing). He would enter the code using his mobile keypad and then the call would be directly connect-ed to the owner of the property he is interested in.

That way, the owner doesn’t have to give his phone number to strangers, and Zukbox is now able to track how many leads are generated through its platform and forwarded to owners. At the same time, the solutions enhances custom-er experience.
