Dear Fellow Brother Knights,
As the Spring Season comes to a near, and move deeper into
the Holy Season of Lent, let all of us look for and embrace
any and all opportunities to make our Council stronger in
Faith and in the Growth of our Order.
Come weekend of March 17 and 18, we will hold a parish-
wide Membership Blitz in conjunction with our Monthly
Pancake Breakfast. Be visible at the mass by wearing your
Knights of Columbus badge and invite a Practicing Catholic
Gentlemen to join the Order.
The need to grow the Order is not merely to achieve a
numerical objective. Asking others to join us in that
endeavour can only have positive results for ourselves, our
Order and all of God’s people.
With our aspiration and unity, we can make a difference.
We have been joined by eighteen (18) New Knights in the
past 8 months. I encourage these New Knights to get active
and stay active. Our Council is involved in such diverse
activities that there must be at least one activity or event of
interest to each member.
Feel privileged, you are a KNIGHT….!
Vivat Jesus…

Have You Insured Your Most Valuable Asset?
Is your income protected if you become too sick or hurt to work?
Your ability to work and earn an income is your most valuable
asset. Yet a disability could prevent you from earning that
income. Just one year of a disability could eliminate your savings.
I would like to show you that Income Armor, an individual
disability income insurance product from the Knights of
Columbus, should be a key part of your overall financial plan and
family’s protection.
If you become too sick or hurt to work, Income Armor provides
monthly benefits to help you meet living expenses and maintain
your standard of living. Your monthly benefits help you pay your
mortgage and other monthly bills, and help your savings and
retirement assets remain intact.
In short, if you have a job and don’t have a way to protect
that paycheck, you should seriously consider Income Armor
today. I look forward to meeting with you.
I’m at 778-837-2317 or [email protected].

Suggestions for non-perishable donations include: peanut butter, powdered or tinned milk, iron fortified formula, juices, tinned beans, fish and meats, tinned fruits and vegetables, soups and chunky soups. Or send a donation by cheque. That allows the Food Bank to buy food as needed - including fresh fruits and vegetables - throughout the year

COLIN and GUINEVERE QUAN
Brother Colin joined the Knights of Columbus four (4) years ago in March 31, 2008. Since he became a member of our Council, he finds himself involved in activities and programs that he feels himself accomplishing. In a very short period of time, he step-up to the Major Degree and is now a Fourth Degree Knight. He ushers regularly at the 9:00am Sunday Mass and has assisted in the Seniors Parish Community Luncheon Event. His involvement as a Knights Core Member in the Parish Stewardship is an expression of his heartfelt gratitude to the Lord. Brother Colin in his current capacity as Council Trustee 2-Year has served in the Executive Office for three (3) years. His participation in the growth of membership is through Retention. He was also a Pulpit Announcer in last Fall’s Membership Blitz and will continue in next month’s membership drive. Together with his wife, Gwen, this couple are constant supporters of our council’s fundraising events and are actively visible in most of our Community, Council, Family and Pro-Life Programs.
Thank you QUAN FAMILY for your continued support to our Council and the Order.
FEBRUARY 2012
AMADO MERCADO A 4th Degree Knight, Bro. Amado joined the Knights of Columbus in October 21, 2002. He involves himself in Church, Council and Family Programs. He is a regular usher at the 5:00pm Saturday mass together with his wife, Gloria, who has been seen as robust supporter of Parish fundraising events which was evident during the Filipino Cultural Night”Pista Sa Nayon” last February 2011.
Brother Amado’s commitment is not only limited to the Order. He aslo serves as a Core Member of the St. Paul Parish Stewardship Committee. His involvement in the community is demonstrated through his leadership with MultiCultural Helping House Society in Vancouver, an organization which gives assistance to new immigrants needing help or direction in starting a new life in Canada.
An advocate in the goals of the Knights of Columbus, his deep allegiance to the growth of the Order has led him in bringing in three(3) catholic gentlemen to join the Order last February 27, 2012.
Congratulations BROTHER AMADO and God Bless You with all your efforts.

SUPREME COUNCIL sends Aid for Flood Victims in Philippines
In response to the devastating flash floods that swept across a southern portion of the Philippines shortly before Christmas, the Supreme Council has sent $30,000 in emergency relief funds to assist with the humanitarian efforts in the Mindanao jurisdiction. The money was sent to Caritas Philippines, the charitable and humanitarian organization of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines.
“Our hearts and our prayers go out to the people of the Philippines who have been struck by this disaster, and we especially remember all our brother Knights and their families who have been directly affected, and also those others who are working hard to bring relief,” said Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson. “We know the great suffering, hardship, homelessness and loss of life that this storm has brought to the Philippines, and we will continue to work with our Knights and the local Church leaders as they provide help where it is most needed.”
One of the worst natural disasters to hit the southern Pacific nation in decades, Tropical Storm Washi (known locally as Typhoon Sendong) brought more than a month’s worth of rain in the space of 12 hours on December 16, causing more than 1,000 reported deaths and leaving some 500,000 people displaced in and around the area’s population centers of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City. Rescue efforts continued as the New Year dawned, with crews searching thousands of collapsed homes and removing tons of downed trees and debris.
In addition to releasing the emergency $30,000 donation, the Supreme Council also has asked councils and individuals to donate to the Order’s Philippine Disaster Relief fund, which can be accessed through the Knights of Columbus web site. Ongoing relief efforts will seek to restore electricity, purify water sources and replenish the food supply.
There are more than 260,000 Knights of Columbus members throughout the three jurisdictions in the Philippines. (SOURCE: Supreme Council Website www.kofc.org)
