My Brothers of Council 5803,

I want to thank PGK Ron Huerth and the Monday Night Football crew for sponsoring the Seth Fabry fund raiser. Special thanks to Tony Bonomo, PGK Jerry Padgett and the rest of our broth-ers for preparing fantastic eggplant parmesan. Last but not least, thanks to everyone for their generous donations to this most worthy cause. This was another fine example of unity through teamwork.

Thankfulness

There is an old European story about a traveler who come

upon a barn where the devil had stored seeds which he

planned to sow in the hearts of people. There were bags of

seeds variously marked “Hatred”,

“Fear”, “Doubt”, “Despair”,

“Unforgiveness” “Pride”, “Greed”,

“Lust”, “Anger”, etc.

The devil appeared and struck up a conversation with the

traveler. He gleefully told the traveler how early the seeds he

sowed sprouted in the hearts of men and women. “Are there

any hearts in which these seeds will not sprout?”, the traveler asked.

A melancholy look appeared on the devil’s face. “These seeds will not sprout in

the heart of a thankful and joyful person,” he confessed.

This is the time of the year to be thankful and joyful for all God has given us.

Since its addition to the Order’s product portfolio in 2000, long-term care insurance

has provided the order with an excellent opportunity to further serve Knights and

their families. And-since 2005-every Knights of Columbus long-term care policy

comes with an added value.

That added value is in the form of a service called “Provider Pathway”, a program

offering access to a network of long-term care providers at discounted rates. The

network covers: home health care, personal emergency response systems, adult

day care, assisted living, skilled nursing facilities and durable medical equipment.

Eligibility for participation in this program is open to Knights of Columbus long-term

care insurance policyholders, their spouses, dependent children, parents and par-

ents-in-law. All providers are fully credentialed and meet state licensing require-

ments.

If you are not currently an LTC policyholder, I suggest that you and I get together so

that I can provide additional information

on how you can avail yourself of this val-

uable, value-added benefit.

Call me.

Fraternally,

Fundraiser My Brothers and families, I would like to thank all of you who donated and attended our fundraiser for Seth Fabry and his family on Monday the 23rd. Because of your generous contributions, we were able to present a check to the Fabry family for over $9,100.00. After the check was presented we received more do-nations, and we will wait until it appears that all the donations have been sent in before making out another check. It was very gratifying to see so many people at the hall. This was a big undertaking that we would never have been able to accomplish without the tireless efforts of Tony Bonomo and his family, a very special thank you for everything you did. I would like to thank the very large as-sembly of our Knights, families and friends that helped Tony over the entire weekend and Monday. There are so many of you that gave so much of your time to make this a wonderful event. I would name everyone, but I know I would miss someone, so please just know that you are all appreciat-ed. These types of events are what makes me proud to be a Knight at 5803.

Simi Valley Invited To Parcipate In Toy Drive

The Knights of Columbus, Simi Valley Council #5803 and Mother Teresa Chris an Service Program

are asking the community to join in the Knights of Columbus Annual Toy Drive to help make sure

every child in Simi Valley has at least one toy for Christmas. Previous years efforts have yielded

enough dona ons to touch the lives of over 500 children and their families. In addi on to the drive

almost 150 families will receive boxes of food that include either a complete ham or turkey dinner

with all the trimmings for their holiday. Our 2017 goal is 1200 toys for the children (ages infant to

16) in this, our major holiday project. In December, the presents collected will be given to the par-

ents of the children, giving them an opportunity to provide their children with something for Christ-

mas. At the same me, children will be treated to a Christmas party complete with a visit from San-

ta, plus games and refreshments, courtesy of the Knights of Columbus, Council #5803, who have

been serving Simi Valley for over 52 years.

The Mother Teresa Chris an Service program at St. Rose of Lima began in the early 1970’s at a me

when Simi Valley was experiencing a building boom. As new houses and businesses appeared, so too

did the urban poor whose income could not keep up with the growing economy. The parish re-

sponded by providing food and clothing where needed and throughout the years has expanded to

include regular dinners for the poor and homeless, a bereavement program, services to the home-

bound, shelter, transporta on, counseling and referrals. The community outreach program is sup-

ported by the parishioners of St. Rose of Lima Church, the Knights of Columbus, The Simi Valley

Dream Cuisine, Serving Those In Need, Inc., Saint Rose of Lima Bingo, as well as through private do-

na ons. Mother Teresa Chris an Services Program is a non-denomina onal organiza on that pro-

vides weekly food bags, clothing and assistance to hundreds of Simi Valley residents.

The Knights of Columbus is the world¹s largest Catholic family fraternal service organiza on with 1.9

million members. The Knights charitable ac vi es encompass an almost infinite variety of local, na-

onal and interna onal projects. From interna onal charitable partnerships with Special Olympics,

the Global Wheelchair Mission and Habitat for Humanity to our own Food for Families and Coats for

Kids projects and other local chari es, the Knights and their families is virtually endless. In 2016, the

Knights of Columbus set a new all- me record for the 18th consecu ve year. Our charitable dona-

ons increased from $175 million in 2015 to a new total of $177,500,673 in 2016. In addi on, we

achieved our highest level of charitable service in 2016, volunteering more than 75 million hours of

service.

Anyone interested in par cipa ng can drop off an unwrapped toy at St. Rose of Lima Catholic

Church rectory at 1305 Royal Ave in Simi Valley.

You also can make a monetary dona on by sending it to:
