Bellarmine has an overall record of 31-21 in the NCAA with Coach Scott Davenport-coached teams going 24-9 with a national championship in 2011 and four total “final fours” (2011, 2012, 215, 2017). Milestone watch Heading into the NCAA tourney, Adam Eberhard has exactly 1,800 points and ranks 4th on the all-time BU scoring list, 68 points shy of Tom Schurfranz’s total of 1,868. Eberhard also ranks in BU’s all-time top 10 in: Assists (3rd with 474), Rebounds (10th with 763), Blocks (6th with 77), Steals (T10 with 103) and Highest Career FT% (5th with 82.9%). Scott Davenport enters the tourney with 342 career wins, four shy of tying Joe Reibel for the most in program history. Sharpshooters Finding the basket hasn’t been an issue for the Knights over the past decade, ranking in the nation’s top 10 in field goal percentage every year since 2008 and finishing No. 1 five times during that span. This season is no exception as Bellarmine’s team FG percentage of 54.7% again leads the nation. Should BU maintain that accuracy for the remainder of the year, it would be a new school record. Bellarmine vs. Midwest Region The Knights and Walsh have played just once previously--a 97-95 victory for then-Bellarmine College over Walsh College on Feb. 21, 1975. Interestingly, two Knights (Floyd Smith and Jim Hall) poured in 30 points apiece. With the exception of Grand Valley, against whom BU is 2-1, potential future opponents in the regional offer a much longer history. Findlay and Bellarmine have played seven times with the Oilers holding a 4-3 edge thanks to last year’s 74-73 win in the Midwest Regional semifinals. Ashland is a former GLVC member and BU is 17-20 against the Eagles. Other series records include: Drury (12-8), Lewis (40-45), USI (44-51).
