GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE FOR September, 2020Until we can meet in-person, our council must meet virtually. There are many online video conferencing options. You may be surprised at how many Knights will participate via computer, tablet or smartphone. As this pandemic lingers, we must be the leaders who offer Faith in Action activities for our members and parishes. We should meet with Fr. Fred and offer our assistance to do whatever it takes to keep the parishioners connected to the Church, the Faith, and to Christ, discuss ways the council can help him in these trying times. We can help with organize activities like the ones below when the pastor or the Ministry calls on us for support.
Drive Through ConfessionsDiscuss the logistics of arrangingProvide traffic control and signs to make things run smoothly.
Hospitality Ministry at Outdoor MassesWhen the parish is conducting outdoor Masses, council members can set chairs and benches to improve the comfort of attendees.Sanitize all furniture between Masses.
Leave No Neighbor BehindBrothers contacting Brothers – call every Knight to make sure he and his family are OK.Call or visit elderly parishioners…offer to assist with their shopping or other errands.
Emergency Food DistributionWe can check with our local Catholic Charities or community food bank to find out how our council can access food for distribution. Send messages to the parish inviting those who can to bring food to the parish to support those who are struggling during these difficult times.
Please reach out to someone you know and ask him to join our council by participating in one of our scheduled ceremonials.
During these challenging times it can be easy to focus on what we cannot do. But – as SMD Jones correctly points out – there are many things we can do. If our council does the things on this list, We will become the go-to organization in the parish…you’ll make a tangible difference…and you’ll show your fellow parishioners that there is a place for them in the Knights of Columbus.

1. Opening Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance was given per SK George Toscano, GK
2. Officers roll call and introduction of past dignitaries. Responding were Joseph Adams, PGK - Steve Gaston, PGK – and Peter Castillo, PN
3. Grand Knight Report: Gave thanks to officers current and past, and to the membership for their help with the transition. Stated that with Almighty God’s and the Blessed Mother’s help, we will endure in these difficult times. That we will continue to help with the poor, for the church and to protect her. We will do what the Knights of old did. Be there when the Father calls us.
4. The Budget Meeting of 06.18.2020, and the Treasurer’s Report was given by SK Jim Penta. A digital recording was made of the full conversation and may be requested by any Knight of this council.
5. The Financial Secretary’s Report was given per Brother Knight Jeffrey Now-ell. A digital recording was made of the full conversation and may be re-quested by any Knight of this council.

SK Jim Penta also made some good points regarding the Newsletter.He mentioned that some of the membership may have difficulty utilizing Zoom or the time of our meeting may be impractical because of Jobs, etc. But most do know how to open an e-mail at their convenience.
We will discuss the Minutes Report on our next Officers meeting and check the by-Laws of our council as well.
The Grand Knight also asked for volunteers for Confirmations on August 6, 2020 and August 7, 2020. Time for both: 6: PM

Supplies
Please remember that I can be your contact for Knights of Columbus items that you may need. This could include: Rosaries, K of C lapel pins, hats, shirts, replacement badges, current cards, etc. The new shirts are in. Please see me at the general meeting or leave a message on my cell phone (619) 993-2276, to place your order. These are polo style shirts very similar to the current ones.
