CASE STUDY: Tesco Bank

CASE STUDY: Kleinwort Benson

Overview In 2012 as part of their merger with Close Brothers, Kleinwort Benson Channel Islands (KCBI) moved their core banking systems from Milvus G3 to Temenos T24, keeping the following messaging functionalities that were provided by Aqua Global’s e²gen product portfolio;

• Messaging Management and Message Handling• Treasury Message Matching• Account Reconciliations• Security Reconciliations • Sanction Monitoring

With e2gen retained as the hub of all messaging requirements, at migration it was a seamlessexercise to finally cut from G3 to T24 without any loss of service and KCBI were able to run business as usual and retain all transaction history.

Business SituationKBCI were running multiple entities on e2gen with interfaces to T24 and other different banking sys-tems. Due to the product flexibility, KBCI support multiple back office systems for branches in Guern-sey, Jersey, London and the Isle of Man with a single instance of the system. e2gen provides a SWIFT message processing hub for payment automation, reconciliations, sanction monitoring and matching. e2gen allows segregation of its information to ensure that users only have access to their own entities information.

This gave KBCI the following advantages;

• Continued use of a well-known set of products saving time and effort in retraining existing staff.• Use of the existing infrastructure without additional cost.• No time, effort or expenditure was utilised in looking for alternatives.• The migration from G3 to T24 was quickened and simplified.• Several years of historical audit information was preserved without any additional effort or cost.

Included within this wider initiative Kleinwort Benson also sought to continue with the automated in-terface to their retained 4Series but sourcing the information from T24 rather than Milvus G3, replacing the G3 interfaces with a T24 equivalent.
