The 13th annual Bearkat Bash family fun run will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014, on the grounds of Klein High School. Founded by Paula Hagerman, the popular non-profit community run benefits the Klein High School Track and Cross Country teams, as well as participating schools and organizations within Klein ISD. This year nearly 1,000 runners and walkers are expected to participate.

Online registration is now open at www.bearkatbash5k.com. Cost for 5K participants is $30 through September 6 ($40 thereafter), and $20 for 1K participants. Registration fee includes race entry (chip timing for 5K runners), race t-shirt, awards, and post race party, including food and giveaways.

The 2014 Bearkat Bash 5K is certified and sanctioned by USATF.Sponsorship opportunities are available by contacting Susan Troscinski at 281.804.7077.

FUN FAIR POSITIVE SOCCERLET THE KIDS PLAY!

In 1986, a group of parents in Katy felt there had to be a better way to provide every youth soccer player a positive experience. They saw the main problem as parents who put too much pressure on the kids to perform. They developed a system so the kids could play and enjoy the sport without demands from adults. They modified the rules and designed a process of 5-aside rules, equal play with a unique equal substitution system, balanced teams, and parent training to ensure that it would be fair. The parents would behave and be positive so it would be truly "Made for Kids".

Thus Fun-Fair-Positive Soccer (FFPS) was founded in (Continued on Page 3)

the spring of 1986, by Jack Hendrie and several parents, to establish a positive environment for youth soccer players. The first season of the Katy youth soccer league registered 150 players. In 1995, Jack decided to expand beyond Katy. FFPS has added 21 additional programs in the last 24 years totaling over 16,000 players, with 25,000 players expected by 2016. Cypress-Tomball Democrats Host Author Chonya JohnsonThe next Cypress-Tomball Democrats monthly meeting

The Northwest Flyers Track Club Youth Cross-Country Team kicks off the fall season with registration and a mandatory orientation for parents and athletes on Monday, September 8, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. Registration will be held at Cypress Creek High School, 9815 Grant Rd., Houston, TX. The first practice will be held at the Cypress Creek YMCA on Thursday, September 11. The Northwest Flyers Track Club is a member program of USA Track and Field (USATF), the national governing body for track and cross country. The club is in its 27th year in the northwest Houston area. Children ages 6 - 18 may participate in the team, and both beginners and experienced runners are welcome. Middle school and high school cross country athletes can also register, but should compete after their cross country season is over.

seeking a Jewish presence in Northwest Houston. We are the closest synagogue within 25 miles of the nearest synagogue. Many thought that they were the only Jews in the Cypress area, but it turns out that they were wrong! Shalom Cypress has grown to more than 30 affiliated families.

Shalom Cypress Hebrew School is now open for enrollment for the Fall & Spring 2014/2015 year. This upcoming year Morah Alana is going to concentrate on conversational Hebrew with the children. The 1st day of Hebrew School was August 28th!
