HOT RODS WOW DADS Fremantle , 7th Sept. 2008. Neil

Gibb’s annual Father’s Day Hot Rod Show was another mega event this

year. Hot rods, classics, trade stands and a live band, when cou-

pled with perfect weather creates a mixture oozing with great sights and

vibes. The show is always a great meeting place to catch up with old

mates and even your own kids, for a day down town or a great lunch in

Freo. While lunch was good at the time, the 12 hours of “runs” that fol-

lowed that evening, for half our group, makes me think that some-

thing wasn’t quite right south of the riv-er at the Mexican joint! Speedy

Gozales! Mucho run run sore bottom ! Seeya somewhere else next year. EW.

Well hot diggity Hi,This edition we have input from Mike Flett, Big Al, me and Gibby about the club’s Southern Garage Cruise. Talk about feast and famine contribu-tions. This is like getting a bonus Mars bar in a pack. It was a great day as usual. See details deeper in. Of course, the BIG event in September is Gibby’s Fathers Day Show. It has become a monster mini show. Heaps of rods inside and heaps more cruising the surrounds in Fremantle. Read more further in, and check out the photos BL1 took with flat batteries in the camera. They are the same ones you see with your eyes closed! Last edition, I promised that “The Tale of Two Tail Lights” would be in this Klaxon. Due to there being ample content in this edition and the time taken in building a Willys coupe, this article has been rescheduled for next month. The Editors coupe is just about to leave Spankys Hot Rod Shop for the last time. Have I told you about the radiator and water pump that should be coloured the same as lemons...DON’T GET ME STARED! Well OK just a bit. It’s all about the testing things that happen when trying to meet a deadline, like the 2006 Big River Run. The new radiator springs a leak in the middle of the core. I solder it up. Now the water pump springs a leak from its back plate (second time), then I tap a spanner on the new plastic windscreen washer reservoir and it shatters. ( It has been in the shed since purchased for the coupe MK I in the mid 70s, is it just old??)Now I cannot find my thermo fan thermostat.. Another $80! It goes on.. But at least the tail lights have been designed built and installed! You are just going to love them...like no others ever seen. (Stop cringeing AB and Peter Hunt-er - the StyleMasters) Seeya on the street soon. My rodding wilder-

ness now has a map! Extreme E.

Father’s Day Hot Rod Show - 2008 Blessed by per-fect weather again this year, Gibby’s Father’s Day Show held at St Patrick’s school in Fremantle was a ripper. A large range of classics and hot rods gave the pub-lic eyeballs a fantabu-lous feast to set upon. A new Feature this year was a live band “The Yeomen” who were organized by Trevor Breese’s Vintage Rod and Cus-tom stand. As going to press, I haven’t had any show statistics from Neil, but I can say there were vehicles jammed tight in the yard, thanks to the support given by local rodders. It was a great day thanks to Neil and the many assisting club members. Good job. Proceeds will again be donated to Senses Foundation for the the visually and hearing impaired.

After a pancake breakfast at the WCSRC Clubrooms, we started out with 12 Cars and 16 people, This quantity grew over the day with extras joining at each location.

The first stop was at Gibbys for morning tea and to view projects underway and those in waiting. A ‘53 Cusso, 47 coupe etc. The second was at Ben Fosters house for a sticky beak. Here, Ben’s son took out a 1927 AJS for a rap around. He took off and turned right

and every one raced down to the corner to catch a photo of him riding the bike on his way back, but he ended going right aroung the block and came down the street (from the other direction from where every one was waiting). The next location of the day was at Trevor Breese’s home/business. A perfect location to park up a few rods and enjoy lunch cooked under the Gazebo. West Coast supplied lunch

The crew at will look after you. Lars, Aaron and Glen can also offer great advice, gathered with years of experience. The problem with a lot of Auto stores is they are full of fluff and crystals and often don’t stock hard core rodder requirements. Ellenbrook Auto One will order almost anything you could need for your rod. And still give you some discount, if they can get discount themselves. An example of this is the rings, bearings and gaskets etc that I needed for the coupe’s motor. Bin-go! They were there for the weekend and at the right price. Not to men-tion a great deal I got on my Thermo fan and fit-tings. Try them!
