Chenrezig Empowerment and Teaching on Shakya Shri’s Mind Terma
Shakya Shri (1853-1919) was an accomplished master of the Mahamudra and Dzogchen traditions. He was recognized as one of the 25 accomplished disciples of Guru Padmasambhava, and is the great grandfather of Khandro Rinpoche.
This Mind Terma was directly transmitted from Guru Padmasambhava to Shakya Shri during meditation, flowing spontaneously from his mind. Such a direct and profound teaching on compassion is very relevant in this chaotic time. Khandro Rinpoche will bestow the empowerment for this special practice and in addition teach on its meaning.

Khandro Thrinlay Chodon is a lay female Buddhist practitioner and spiritual teacher. Born in the Indian Himalayas to a family of renowned Tibetan yogis of the Drukpa tradition, Khandro-la began her spiritual training as a small child and has studied both Eastern and Western approaches to spiritual psychology. She is devoted to bringing
alive the wisdom of her ancient tradition into our modern world and has, with the encouragement of many Vajrayana Buddhist masters, since 2003 been teaching in the West. She focuses on spirituality in daily life.

We welcome you to a number of special events of warm and genuine sharing with Khandro Thrinlay Chodon. This will be Khandro Rinpoche’s 7th and most extensive visit to Melbourne yet. As well as a public talk and a four-week meditation course she will be leading a weekend Chenrezig empowerment retreat and teachings on this special practice from her family lineage.
There will also be a Candlelight Puja, an outdoor Connecting to the Land ceremony and a special fundraising dinner to support Khachodling’s humanitarian projects in the Himalayas. In addition there is the opportunity for individual sessions with Khandro-la.
While we have been very fortunate that Khandro Rinpoche has been making annual visits to Melbourne for as long as she has been teaching in the West, it is likely to be some time before she is able to return for this length of time again.
