This 23-acre urban site was theformer Stroh brewery and ownedby the Stroh family. The buildinghad an infrastructure that did nothave any future use. The Strohfamily asked KIRCO to help themdevelop a vision for a modern useproperty asset that incorporatedthe architectural aspects of thebrewery tradition.

The Financial District Garage,located in downtown Detroit at theintersection of Shelby andLafayette, is an eight level parkingstructure with parking also availableon the roof level.

The structure was built with pre-castconcrete panels with exposedaggregate exterior. It includes acorner stairwell and elevatorenclosed in tinted bronzed glassand bronze aluminum. The structureis also equipped with surveillancecameras and 24-hour card accessas well as on-site security monitorand personnel.

Griswold Streets on Kennedy Square,

and Financial Districts of downtown

Designed in 1912 by architect Daniel

Burnham the building features an

elegant terracotta exterior and con-

nects to the Financial District Garage.

The renovation of the exterior in-

cluded enhancing the original work by

addressing the building’s streetscape

through the addition of limestone and

granite details, sidewalk canopies

and landscape planters containing

seasonal blooms.

The interior renovation added elegant

marbles, fine hardwoods, polished

brass and updated elevator lobbies.
