History
• Indian social activist and a retired police officer.
• She joined the police service in 1972 and became the first
woman officer in the IPS.
• she held the post of Director General at the Bureau of Police
Research and Development
• she was the host and judge of the popular TV series, "Your
Court", which is based on real-life disputes
Profile
• she has been India’s first and highest (woman) ranking officer
who joined the Indian Police Service in 1972.
• She worked with the United Nations in New York as the
Police Advisor to the Secretary

Domestic Violence)
• She is an author of many books, has her biography I Dare
• She won the All-Asian Tennis Championship, and won the
Asian Ladies Title at the age of 22.

film was adjudged the “Best Documentary” at Santa Barbara

• Currently, she has been in the vanguard of a nationwide, India
Against Corruption, a movement led by Shri Anna Hazare
Traffic Control Officer -Delhi • She worked nonstop for 19 hours every day to control the
traffic.
• As a first step she began assessing traffic signal errors.
• She rented available cranes in the city and began towing
vehicles
• She made sure that the planning, organization and the city
development efforts were coordinated with traffic plans by
collaborating with MCD, DDA, DESU and NATPAC
