Dear Friends of KIPP Chicago,

When I entered the fifth grade, my family saw potential in me to not only excel in school, but to excel beyond that. KIPP was the guiding light to not only build upon my foundation of discipline, academic excellence, and character but to nurture me to grow into the woman I am today. The long hours of 7:45am until 5:00pm were only a small example of what college would be like. From KIPP, I attended North Lawndale College Prep High School on the west side where I graduated number three in my class. From there I transitioned to my new establishment, Spelman College in Atlanta, GA. College has not been a piece of cake with a cherry on top, but it was those humble beginnings and lessons on determination that kept me going through it all. KIPP has also brought a wonderful mentor in my life that I can call on at any time, and has also been a guiding light in my trek through college.

KIPP has also been gracious enough to bestow alumni with internship opportunities to work within the KIPP network. This summer I had the pleasure of working with the phenomenal Ms. Ellen Sale to open KIPP Chicago’s newest school, KIPP Bloom on the south side of Chicago. Through this opportunity I was reminded of the “magic” of KIPP, and how a couple of people can change the lives of a family forever. KIPP is an awesome program, and I could not see my life without it.

Sincerely,Paris Clark

Paris Clark with the KIPP Bloom team in the summer of 2013.
