The Team. We, the Kipa Bots are the Amit schools 8 th grade robotics team. We are thirteen students, ages 13-14, including one from the small integration class. Our team is lucky to have two mentors, Yosi and Sigal Karl, who work with us voluntarily, in addition to Rabbi Tzachi Green who is the FLL coordinator for the school. We spend countless hours working in order to succeed in the competitions. During this time we learn about technology, science, conducting research, and team management. We are a group that is passionate about using research and technology to create social change. In addition to programming our robot to conduct missions we have also conducted research about how adjusting the learning space for different learners can improve their academic achievements. The Team. We, the Kipa Bots are the Amit

school’s 8th grade robotics team. We are

thirteen students, ages 13-14, including one

from the small integration class. Our team is

lucky to have two mentors, Yosi and Sigal Karl,

who work with us voluntarily, in addition to

Rabbi Tzachi Green who is the FLL coordinator

for the school.

We spend countless hours working in order to

succeed in the competitions. During this time

we learn about technology, science, conducting

research, and team management.

We are a group that is passionate about using

research and technology to create social

change. In addition to programming our robot to

conduct missions we have also conducted

research about how adjusting the learning

space for different learners can improve their

academic achievements. We have been invited

to present our research to the Director General

of the Education Ministry on 19th March.

The Competition. FIRST (For

Inspiration and Recognition of Science and

Technology), the organization, that runs the FLL

worldwide has set out to introduce young people

to the fun and excitement of science and

technology and to encourage them to advance

their studies in this field (http://www.usfirst.org/).

The FLL challenges us to build a robot and

program it to complete a maximum number of

tasks within a given timeframe to score points on

a themed playing field (Robot Game), to develop

a solution to a problem we identify in the real

world (Project), and to do all this while adhering

to the FLL core values.

Achievements. This year, our team

has competed for the second time in the Israeli

FLL tournaments. Last year, we won the 1st

place Championship Award in the regional

competition which took place in Nes Tziona,

and received an award for best robot

performance as well. At the national competition

that took place in Tel-Aviv, we won the 1st place

award for robot performance and 2nd place for

programing. At the Off-Season competition we

won the 1st place award. This year we won the

1st place Championship Award and the 1st

place robot performance award at the regional

competition which took place in Rehovot. In the

national competition this year, we won a

Championship Award, and therefore we are

going to represent Israel in an international

competition that will take place in South Africa,

May 2015.

Finance. The cost of the entire trip for

13 8th + 9th grade team members, 2

mentors and 5 staff/parents is $40,000.

This includes flight costs of $1100 per

person, kosher food, ground

transportation, accommodation, and

team apparel.

Currently, there is no budget from

anywhere set aside for this, and we need

to raise $20,000 in the next week in

order to secure our flights, and the next

$20,000 in the two weeks following.

Therefore, we are turning to you, our

loyal supporters and friends, AMIT

Women, to ask you to donate the first

$20,000 to enable this trip to go ahead.

We believe we will be able to leverage

your backing to gain financial support

from the Ministry of Education and

municipality and, if necessary, othersources.

Publicity. We would be grateful for any

support we receive from you the AMIT
