PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
100 Days of Learning Each year we celebrate 100 Days of Learning. This year our 100 th Day of Learning is next Thursday the 4th June, 2019. This year we are asking students to come dressed as their favourite sports star or in a sporting uniform. We are also having our “Jump Off Day” for the Jump Rope for Heart Foundation. Thank you to all of the families who have supported the Heart Foundation. At lunch time the Kingswood South Student Representa-tive Council will be selling drinks for $1.50 and Bracelets for $1.00 that have been kindly donated by Shickura Neivandt. In the afternoon we will have an assembly to celebrate our student learners. A note outlining the days activities will go home on Monday next week. Bike Helmets It has been brought to my attention that a number of our students are riding bikes to school without wearing a helmet. The helmet laws for cyclists of all ages in NSW help prevent head injuries and brain damage from falls and crashes. The Road Rules state that a bicycle rider on roads and road-related areas must wear an approved bicycle helmet securely fitted and fastened. This applies to all bicycle riders, regardless of age, including children on bicycles with training wheels and any child being carried as a passenger on a bike or in a bicycle trailer. Please ensure that your child wears their helmet when riding their bike to help ensure their safety.
Woolworths Earn and Learn The Woolworths Promotion Earn and Learn Stickers has now finished and we are placing all of the stickers on stickers sheets ready to send in to Woolworths. Thank you to all of the families who have collected stickers and sent them to school. If you have any stickers or sticker sheets at home could you please bring them to the school office. PULSE Choir After months of hard work and rehearsal, our students will be performing at the Western Sydney Pulse Opera House Evening Performance on Thursday the 4th July, 2019. The performance commences at 7pm and concludes at 9pm. The students are required to meet Miss Beavis at the Penrith Train Station at 9.00am. I would like to thank Miss Beavis for the many hours of
rehearsal time she has spent making sure our students can perform success-fully. Thank you also to the parents who have provided transport to and from the rehearsals.
STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE
P & C News The Kingswood South P & C have scheduled their next meeting for the 3rd of July at 7pm in the School Library. The Kingswood South P & C support our school through fundraising events and it’s a great opportunity for parents to become involved in the school. New members are always welcome. School Debating Team Our school debating team contested the second round of the Penrith Valley Debating Competition on Wednesday against Regentville PS. They narrowly lost the debate by 1 point. It was a great effort and our team is going from strength to strength at each debate. Thank you to Mrs Gibson who is spending a lot of her time to prepare and support our students. Finally, school reports go home next week on Monday the 1st July, 2019. If you have any concerns or questions regarding your child’s report please contact the school office to organise a meeting with your child’s teacher. Next Friday is the last day of Term 2. School begins again after the school holidays for the students on Tuesday the 23rd July, 2019. I would like to wish all of our families a safe holiday break. Regards Ms Sandra Martin Principal
