REDEFINING EXHIBITIONSTRANSFORMING TRADE SHOWS THROUGH BESPOKE SOLUTIONS

EXPO ASTANA 2017 took place in the capital of Kazakhstan, involving representatives from approximately 100 countries. In collaboration with BRC Imagination Arts, designer, creative director and executive producer of the pavilion experience, Kingsmen fabricated and installed an integrated experience for the 1,300 sqm USA Pavilion.

Visitors could explore, participate and experience the theme of the USA Pavilion – “The Source of Infinite Energy” through various formats and mediums as they passed through different zones within the Pavilion, culminating in the Infinite Energy Theatre Main Show Experience. As visitors exit through the Post Show exhibition and sponsor zone, they got the opportunity to engage with innovative energy concepts and fun interactive stations that celebrated the theme of the Pavilion. The holistic experience created an emotional journey that celebrates the idea of working together to make a positive difference in the world.

UAE Ministry of Climate Change & Environment’s elaborate stand at the World Future Energy Summit 2017 drew inspiration from the region’s environmental landscape. Key features included an optical illusion of a mountainous backdrop, undulating sculptured seats which mirrored sand dunes,

a stately “tree” that was strung together using 400 nature photographs taken in UAE, an aquarium that represented its marine life and a café made of recycled wood. These varying design elements came together to form a powerful narrative about the importance of sustainability.

Clean and understated, Knorr-Bremse’s custom-designed stand embodied the brand’s motto of producing quality products that do not compromise on aesthetics.

Sourcing Taiwan 2017, a trade event for international buyers and sellers, took place at Nangang Exhibition Center and saw a record number of buyers attending the show. Hosted by TAITRA, the annual event serves as a trade link between global buyers and quality Taiwanese suppliers. Highlighting the diverse range of industries in Taiwan that offer world class products and services, Kingsmen provided a range of services including project management, creative and design and on-site construction.

Oriented in a circular fashion to symbolize Shanghai Airport’s important role as an aviation hub in the region, the airport’s 100 sqm stand at World Routes 2017 in Barcelona stood out for its extensive use of greenery. Communicating the message of ‘Green Airport, Sustainable Travel’, the exhibit reflects the airport’s support for the aviation industry to be more environmentally friendly.

Inspired by elements of an electronic circuit board, and utilizing technology to create a visual impact, the team translated the brand’s message into the overall design of the stand.

NATIONAL DAY PARADE 2017SINGAPORE

Singapore roared to life on 9th August as the nation celebrated its 52nd birthday. As the principal partner of National Day Parade 2017, Kingsmen is honoured to play a significant role in building the stage at The Float @ Marina Bay. A 7,000 sqm steel stage was erected on the pontoon using customised steel sheets which were welded to form the entire base structure, meeting stringent

weight restrictions. Connecting the stage to the promenade required the installation of four double hinge ramps which allowed the pontoon to seamlessly rise and fall according to water levels. Four and a half weeks and 3,000 man hours saw the transformation of a football field into a grand stage fit for the festivities, a stunning spectacle of military parades and multi-cultural performances.

CITIZEN ROADSHOWVIETNAM

The exhibition was a showcase of CITIZEN’s philosophy of “Better Starts Now”. Taking a modern interpretation of the message “Value of Time”, the watchmaker’s exhibition takes a closer look into its newest collection. Featuring a large-scale replica of a CITIZEN

timepiece, the designers created an interactive experience for visitors through various activity zones where viewers were able to revisit the watchmaking heritage and be transported into the world of CITIZEN.

Driving a BMW today is like a page from a futuristic storybook. The German luxury carmaker unveiled its latest generation of the BMW 5 Series in the Mahanakhon Building in Bangkok, where a virtual theatre was created for the launch. Kingsmen deployed

projection mapping to set the mood for the event and guests were greeted by a dynamic kinetic wall, powered by wind energy, to seamlessly reveal a 360 degree panoramic screen and launch space.

The design of the Wuhan Tencent Exhibition Centre brilliantly captures Asia’s largest internet company’s development and excellent results within the tech industry.

A lot of time went into studying the company’s culture, and analysing their success formula. Some of Wuhan’s local traditional elements were injected into the space.

The design team also created a customised exhibit - Internet Plus. This exhibit utilises the Ventuz system and projection mapping to demonstrate the idea of how Tencent improves lives.

Italian luxury lingerie brand, La Perla, recently relaunched its boutiques at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands and Ngee Ann City, Singapore, with a new concept design commissioned by Italian architect Roberto Baciocchi. Inspired by classic Italian architecture and the fine tulle associated with the brand’s fine corsetry,

the stores feature a delicate colour palette of pastel hues accentuated with diamond-shaped mirrors and sinuous velvet seating. Covered in powder blue and lilac panels with golden mesh accents, the walls pay homage to the weaving of fine silk tulle, a symbolic fabric representing La Perla’s signature style.

Revitalising a piece of history to cater to the modern travellers, ViVit Hostel Bangkok offers guests the unique opportunity to experience the authentic Thai hospitality amidst colonial architecture. Situated in the historical area of Bangkok old town, the hostel is reminiscent of Bangkok’s old

days. Originally operating as a shop house since 1912, the hostel decided to preserve the original furniture to tell visitors of its history. Making a bold statement with bright wall colours, the classy interior is a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.

Skechers opened its second flagship store in Tokyo’s Shibuya district. Located in one of the city’s busiest areas, the flagship is part of the brand’s expansion strategy into Japan’s established footwear scene. Pedestrians will be drawn in by the open glass façade

illuminated by eye-catching graphics on fabric lightbox displays. The retail interior finds a balance between a showcase of its products while keeping it clean and simple for easy navigation.

The GPO is the first outlet in the new Smart Post Office network that will serve Singapore’s postal needs in the digital age.Behind the futuristic revamp, the design of the new GPO incorporates elements from the historic Fullerton Building GPO to reflect continuity of SingPost’s heritage. Iconic

elements of the Fullerton GPO were adopted and translated into modern graphics on the walls, glass panels and POPStation lockers, while historical postal artefacts, such as earlier versions of the posting boxes, were recreated.

Keeping with the design aesthetic of Carolina Herrera’s retail stores worldwide, the interiors of the brand’s new Seoul central office is a nod to the designer’s intricately designed clothes that exude an air of elegance and refinement. Located at the basement level, the team made use of the windows to allow natural daylight to

stream into the space. Korean traditional lattice patterns were applied to the windows, injecting a cultural touch into the otherwise highly contemporary space. The ducts and pipes on ceiling were given a coat of red, forming a unique design focal point and complemented the rest of the design elements.

The restaurant’s interior embraced Japanese materiality, design cues and construction techniques. Classic elements such as bamboo, wood, granite and raw textures were integrated into the space, accented by a pop of red. The architecture of the space reflects and supports the food, offering a little escapism with a nod to Japan in a contemporary way. The feature ceiling was designed with wooden louvre, drape hemp rope and hemp rope net, creating a form of navigation for customers. A glass facade with wooden lattice screens was designed to comply with the mall’s request for an larger store opening. This resulted in a semi-open layout that was both inviting yet intimate.

ATLAS graces the ground floor of one of Singapore’s most iconic buildings, Parkview Square, in the history-rich Bugis neighbourhood. Stepping into ATLAS is an experience. The 7,427 sqft bar is a celebration of the grand Art Deco lobbies of Europe and the era’s rich culinary and beverage traditions.

Spread over two floors, Tasaki BBQ reflects a quintessential Japanese barbeque restaurant experience. Whilst ensuring that the nuances of a BBQ restaurant are present, the main design objective was to achieve a traditional yet classy setting. A simple palette of materials such as Melaleuca timber, stucco painting and washi paper are used throughout the interior, while symbolic elements such as Japanese emblems and patterns are used to detail and enhance the intricacy of the interior.
