Day 1 Fractions This week we are going to continue with the work on fractions. The NCETM website has fantastic videos and resources! See the link below for the lesson. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJp2Pa5Mqtg&list=PLQqF8sn28L9xBmQclRrb8YjcM-pzxHjfk Make sure you start off with Lesson 1 Remember, throughout the week continue practising the children’s times tables every day. Instant recall of all times tables up to and including 12 x 12 is the expectation by the end of Year 6. Times tables games: https://www.timestables.co.uk/

Day 1 Last week you began work on your persuasive advert! Your task this week will be to complete it!

The purpose of this is so that you have a clear image in your head of what it is that you are trying to ‘sell’ to people. Make sure it is highly detailed and has lots of good and interesting points that you can talk about so it makes people really want to buy it! If you finish this quickly, write out some of the key features and put them into sentences that persuade people to buy your particular product!

PSHE For PSHE this week we are going to think about: Keeping Safe: How should we keep ourselves safe in school, in the super markets, sport etc.? What are the rules regarding social distancing? How can we keep to them and maintain them in school, supermarkets, when playing sport, walking in the street or playing in the park? What are the rules regarding hygiene in these locations? How has this changed our way or life over the last three months? Think about what this may look like when you come back to school and talk with your parents/carers/ friends about how you can ensure that you do your part to keep not only yourself safe, but your friends and families too. Science This half term we will be exploring the respiratory system! We will be looking at how oxygen is transported around the body this week and exploring how blood works! For your lesson today, we will be exploring how the body is kept alive. https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/science-ks2-how-our-circulatory-system-keeps-us-alive/zhf76v4 Once you have watched the video, we would like you to explore how the heart rate changes dependant on various situations. Look at how you measure the your heart rate first of all. Measure the heart rate of everyone in your house at three separate points. Take one measurement when someone is resting (sat down, not doing anything), when someone has just finished walking (try and do it after a relatively long week) and after someone has finished some exercise! Put your readings into a table and explore the differences between your resting heart rate, walking heart rate and your heart rate after exercise. What can you deduce from that information? Does someone’s age, athletic ability, diet, health effect how their heart rate is different? Write up your table and a short report on your findings!

Day 1 Complete the below tasks on Day 1 and Day 2.

Day 2 Fractions This week we are going to continue with the work on fractions. The NCETM website has fantastic videos and resources! See the link below for the lesson. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-az4Fv7PmZY&list=PLQqF8sn28L9xBmQclRrb8YjcM-pzxHjfk&index=2 Ensure that you are on Lesson 2

Day 2 If you wrote out some sentences yesterday, it’ll help you in this lesson today! Be sure to check out some persuasive language techniques online (I’ll add a link too) and be sure to organise your thoughts! https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/guides/zx7cmnb/revision/2

History During the Summer 2 Term of school, we want to recap over all of the learning that you have done since you have been in KS2. From the Greeks and the Egyptians to the Stone Age and the Vikings, KS2 has been full of historic discovery. For your homework this week, we would simply like you to make a timeline will all the different significant historic events on. Think back to what you learnt in Year 3,4,5 and 6 and place them on the timeline, but also include things that you know about or may have researched over time. Please be sure to include dates and make sure that the timeline is in chronological order. Once you have put the historical periods on, then add a couple of pictures and key facts on! Have fun and enjoy!

A pilgrimage is a journey to a sacred place. People make pilgrimages to places like Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Dharamsala as part of their religious or spiritual practice. A pilgrimage is often a spiritual journey, but some pilgrimages deal with other kinds of devotion. Watch the videos below. https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/religious-education-ks2-my-life-my-religion-muslim-pilgrimage-hajj/zndfcqt https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/religious-studies-ks2-my-life-my-religion-hinduism-pilgrimage-hinduism/z4ghf4j As you are watching the videos make note of what a pilgrimage is, what it means to people of different religions and how it helps people of that particular faith explore their religion. Write a short comparative report explaining the similarities and differences of a pilgrimage in Hinduism and Islam.

What are the common themes? What literary techniques are used?

Day 4

There is an extension task for those of you who finish and want to get a bit more done.

Music For your Music lesson this week we want you to be really creative. We want you to try an create a beat with a great rhythm using only things that you can find at home. Personally, I liked using pans as drums (I’m not sure how the rest of my family felt about that though…) This great lesson is going to show you how to make sounds with things at home. Remember to be safe and don’t hurt yourself or anyone! https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/music-ks3-finding-sounds-around-you-to-create-music/zkp347h Once you have established how to make a good beat, try and incorporate the sounds into a well-known song with people in your house. You might be able to recreate some nostalgic songs that your parents will know! A guy called Andrew Huang is great at doing things like this and it’s pretty cool. Give it a listen and have a go yourself! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Svg_fIoHij8

Day 4

Have a go at writing a character description from your favourite book or from your favourite film. Use all of the resources from the last few days to help you! Below is an example of a character description to help you!

Day 5 Arithmetic Challenge Every Friday there will a list of 27 arithmetic questions for you to attempt. To challenge yourself make sure you time each session and keep a record of how long it took you to complete the questions. If you get stuck on a question move on and after attempting them all – research how to answer the calculation! Remember practise makes perfect and improves the score!

Day 5:

Art Last week your art lesson was all about shading in the human heart and labelling the different parts of it. This week, we would like you to create a 3D human hear using only things that you can find at home. Try and include the arteries and the chambers of the heart! Here is one that may give you some inspiration! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUh2eBqApCQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEB3ncf9Tvg This one is very precise, so the competition is on! Have fun with this one!

Make sure that you are reading for 15 minutes every single day and recording in your reading diary. For the final day you can choose your favourite book and write a book review about it. https://www.mensaforkids.org/teach/lesson-plans/book-review-guide/book-reviewwriting-examples/

Added Extras: Reading If you have been reading lots – fantastic! Keep it up. Remember there are also great websites that are offering books! You could listen to books free on: https://stories.audible.com/discovery Times Tables Keep your recall skills going with regular practise of your times tables. Practise them in order with a Sporcle quiz. If you google: Times Tables (1-12) Quiz – By EthanMaths-Sporcle This will allow you to practise them in order. If you would like more of a challenge and to be tested at random then google: Multiplication Table Quiz – Sporcle
