The Kings DifferenceKings Education occupies a unique place within international

education.

We have the global scale to ensure the broadest range of English

language and University Pathway programmes in the world’s

most popular study destinations.

Yet we retain highly personalised college communities in which

every student matters and belongs — and where student

experience and outcomes are unsurpassed.

6

3. Outcome-focused English courses

Kings English gives you English for Life — whether for Work,

for Study or for Experience. Our courses will develop your

fluency as quickly as possible but they go even further.

They also focus on practical real-world subjects to make

your learning come alive. Find out more on pages 48 – 61.

2. Choice of city and campus locations

Whether you want the thrill of a city, the calm of a campus —

or even if you want both — at Kings you’ll find the perfect

location. Find out more on pages 10 – 47.

10. Fantastic activities and excursions

We believe students do best when they have a total

experience inside and outside the classroom. That’s

why we devote so much attention to providing a wealth

of extracurricular activities — for both learning and fun.

Find out more on pages 80 – 82.

5. Exceptional teaching quality

All Kings courses are renowned for the excellence of their

teaching quality. Small classes give you close access to your

teachers; dynamic lessons involve interactive group work,

and regular progress testing keeps you on track.

7. Personal university support

If you want to go on to university, Kings is the perfect choice.

Our dedicated university advisors will work with you

personally to devise a path to the very best university for you.

1. Quality you can trust

Kings has been operating successfully for nearly 60 years.

We have the expertise and credentials to provide the highest

quality student experience. Our quality is recognised by the

world’s leading accreditation and inspection bodies.

9. Quality accommodation within walking distance

We believe that where a student lives is a vital part of their

experience. It’s the reason we have invested so much in top

quality student accommodation. What’s more, at every

location we offer accommodation within walking distance

of school (except Marymount). For long-term students, this is

guaranteed. See pages 84 – 85, and location pages.

4. Pathways to the best universities

Kings Pathways can prepare you for success at the very

best universities in the USA and UK. Our specialised

expertise provides personalised learning plans and

dedicated university counselling which enable you to

Reach Higher. Find out more on pages 62 – 77.

6. Latest learning technology

Our approach to learning uses the perfect blend of direct

face-to-face teacher contact and the latest digital learning

platforms. Supplementary multimedia content accessed

though iPads or interactive whiteboards will back up your

teacher contact time.

8. Very wide nationality mix

Last year, students from 88 countries studied with us.

This ensures friendly, supportive communities in which

each student feels like they belong and where English is

always the common language. Find out more on page 79.

“ The English and mainly the Art lessons prepared me a lot for this year (Foundation). I’ve always liked to draw and to be involved with art. I had some classes at school but it was very basic. The course prepared me a lot because it gave me a different vision — a completely different way to look at art. English was great too, the teachers are fantastic, and I was staying with a host family so I had to speak English all the time — it helped me a lot.

”Ana Sofia Da Silva Ferraz, from Angola, studied the English Plus Art and Design

programme before taking the Advanced Level Foundation at Kings Oxford.

She is now studying for an Architecture degree at Oxford Brookes University.

IELTS Test Centre in Oxford

Oxford is one of the premier destinations for

English language learning in the world. Many

people come to study IELTS preparation courses

in Oxford, but there is only one Official IELTS

Test Centre —Kings Oxford.

Kings Oxford has been the Official Test Centre for

the Oxford region since 1996, and today is one of

the busiest IELTS Test Centres in the UK — we test

thousands of candidates each year.

Cambridge English Examination Centre in London

Kings London is an official Cambridge English

Examination centre.

“ The teaching at Kings was really effective. It really prepared me to do TOEFL, I didn’t have any surprise when I did the test because it was really what I saw in class.

There were lots of exercises where you had to work in a group of 2 or 3 people and it was always good.

”Samy Belakbir from Belgium studied the

TOEFL iBT Preparation Program at Kings Boston.

He then went on to do an internship at Kings. “ I have been involved with IELTS for over 14 years. I work with a dedicated and experienced team who will guide you through your test application, from registration to results.

We know you will have questions to ask, so we have designed our website to give you all the information you need. We understand that taking an exam can be stressful, and we aim to make your IELTS test in Oxford run as smoothly as we can. ”

At Kings, teaching and learning is at our core. For us,

though, it doesn’t just take place in the classroom.

Instead, we view teaching and learning as a broad and

constant process which enables us all to become better

citizens — locally and globally.

We aim to make a difference across three main areas within

Kings Social Responsibility — Sustainability, Community

and Education.

United World Schools

Kings Education is proud to support United World Schools in their

work to build and sustain schools in some of the world’s most

disadvantaged regions. Kings Education has committed to fund

the building and resourcing of at least one new school each year.

Fundraising activities

To do this our students and staff take part in exciting

fundraising activities. Recent examples include abseiling down

the 100-metre Spinnaker tower, putting on plays, organising

fashion shows and selling gift items.

Well before you leave home we will

provide you with a link to our

comprehensive online student handbook.

It has all the information you need to

ensure your new learning journey is a

happy and successful one.

You will have all the details about how to

find the person who will meet you at the

airport, and about your host family or

residential accommodation. We’ll also

send you information about what to do on

your first day.

You’ll also find the information you need

about living and learning in the UK or USA.

There are sections about your first day,

how you will learn at Kings, and the culture

and lifestyle in the UK or USA. The online

handbook also includes important matters

such as health and safety, law and campus

rules. In addition, you’ll find sample

timetables, a useful checklist before you

leave home, plus links to other relevant

websites and online resources.

Sections include:

• Before you leave home

• Arrivals and immigration control

• First day and orientation

• Your learning experience at Kings

• Living in a residence

• Living in homestay

• Facilities in a typical UK or US home

• Food in the UK or USA

• Introduction to UK or US society

• Leisure time in the UK or USA

• Money and transport

• UK or US law and school rules

• Health and safety

We’ve developed an excellent value

insurance policy specially designed for

international students, in conjunction

with Guard.Me in the USA and Endsleigh

Insurance in the UK.

The insurance policy gives a very high

level of cover and will protect you in the

case of an accident or emergency while in

the USA or UK,

To be fully protected, simply complete the

insurance section on the enrolment form.

For full details about levels of cover and

costs, see our website: kingseducation.com/insurance
