workers by setting and enforcing standards; providing

training, outreach, and education; establishing

partnerships; and encouraging continual improvement in

workplace safety and health.www.osha.gov

Get proper instruction and permission before using a tool or machine.

Keep work area clean and organized.Always use guards and safety equipment on tools and machines.

Report all damaged tools and machines to instructor.

Allow only one person in a machine safety zone at a time.

Keep your hair away from moving parts. (Pull back your hair)

Roll up your sleeves while you operate tools machines.

Always wear safety glasses or goggles while operating tools and machines.

Know where all the emergency shut-off switches are.

Remove all jewelry before using tools and machines.

No horseplay or fooling around is permitted in the lab.

Place tools back in the proper places when finished.

Do not use electric tools near flammable liquids or gases. Know where the nearest fire extinguisher is and how to use it.

Red: Danger or Emergency

Orange: Be on Guard

Yellow: Watch out or Caution

White: Storage

Green: First Aid

Blue: Information or Caution

Design Brief:

Each student will design and develop a Safety Poster using Microsoft Word or Poster Board. The poster should reflect a common safety rule. Students

should concentrate on developing a poster that legible and easily read from a distance. Color, orientation and font

should also be taken into consideration.

Colored Pencils

Markers

Rulers

Procedures:

• Produce four thumbnail sketches of possible poster ideas

• Identify the best design idea

• Create a color rough layout of the chosen poster design by hand
