Introduction
The Kingdom Warriors Martial Arts and Tricking (KW-MAT) is essentially a hybrid of martialarts styles. Despite this, we are credentialed through the World Chung Do Kwan Associationwhich is the original Kwan of the World Taekwondo Federation. The Chung Do Kwan style oftaekwondo was originally founded on the style of Subak which is the predecessor to bothTaekwondo and Tang Soo Do. As such, most of what we teach is very traditional and isconsidered to be more elegant than that of other taekwondo styles.
As our name implies, we strive to offer a variety of martial arts styles in order to introduceour students into the wide world of sport martial arts. We also offer a unique program calledHyper Martial Arts which is a program put together by the top martial arts world championsand allows all martial artists the opportunity to learn the techniques and weapons seen inmovies and on television.
Because of our membership with the International Chung Do Kwan Association, we aredirectly affiliated with the World Taekwondo Federation, the Olympic Taekwondo governingbody. While we do not teach olympic style sparring, our credentials are recognised all overthe world.

ProgramsLil Dragons - Ages 35
The Lil Dragons program is our little kids class. Offering children the opportunity tolearn the fundamentals of martial arts from as early as the age of three, the purpose of this
program is to foster within each child a love of the martial arts but more so to install in themthe characteristics that make up a martial arts athlete; honor, discipline, respect, manners,self-control, endurance and perseverance.
Basic -This program is an all-ages, introductory program designed to install a solid
foundation of martial arts techniques and of the martial arts persona. Students progressthrough the ranks at a slower but steady pace and it is perfect for students who have a harder
time memorising patterns and techniques. Each class is concluded with a mat chat orcharacter education/bully defence talk that lasts anywhere from two to five minutes. Studentsin this program are limited to two classes per week unless a private class is purchased or thestudent attends an open floor session.
Leadership Club -This exclusive program is designed to be an elite program in which students progress
through the ranks at a much faster rate. Students are welcome to any and all classes with nolimit to the number of classes they can attend in any given week. Weapons and Tricking aretaught in this and the Master Club program. Additionally, all testing fees are waved from hereon out with the exception of black belt exams.
Masters Club -The Masters Club program is essentially the same as the leadership program and
therefor no additional cost is added to membership after the student joins Leadership. All
advanced ranking students in the leadership club are automatically upgraded in order toteach them the necessary skills and techniques required for black belt. They attend oneadditional class per week designed exclusively to cover the materials required for black belt. They also go through an intensive instructor training program in order to become studentinstructors.

General TerminologyKorea and Its Flag
The Korean name for Korea is "Hangeuk" and its people are called "Hangeuksaram". The
ancient name for Korea is "Choson", which means literally "the land of morning calm" andcomes from the "Choson" (or "Yi") dynasty of Korea's history (1392-1905). The name "Korea"comes from the "Koryu" dynasty of Korea's history (935-1392) during which westerners hadtheir first contact with Korea.
The national anthem of Korea is "Aeguk Ka" ("Love of Country"). It was written during theJapanese occupation of Korea (circa 1905-1945) and was later set to music by Ahn Eak Tai.The Korean flag is called "Taeguk-ki" and was adopted in August of 1882, not long after the"Hermit Kingdom" opened its front and back doors to foreign aggressive powers. The central
theme of the flag is that although there is constant movement within the sphere of infinity, there is also balance and harmony. The flag consists of three parts: a white field (orbackground), a red and blue circle in the center of the flag (containing a "yin-yang" likesymbol), and four black trigrams surrounding the circle in each of the four corners of the flag. The circle in the center is called "Taeguk" and means the origin of all things in the universe. The red and blue paisleys within the circle represent eternal duality (heaven-earth, fire-water,good-evil, male- female, dark-light, life-death). The blue portion of the circle is called "um"and represents the negative aspects of this duality; the red portion of the circle is called"yang" and represents the positive aspects. "Um-yang" is the Korean equivalent of "yin-yang".
The four black trigrams come from the Chinese book of "I Ch'ing". The trigrams also carry theidea of opposites and of balance. Each trigram (or "gye") consists of three parallel lines, someof which are broken (split), and some of which are unbroken (solid). Each gye has a specificname and represents one or more concepts: In the upper lefthand corner is "K'un" whichconsists of all solid lines and represents heaven, east, and spring; In the lower righthandcorner is "K'on" which consists of all broken lines and represents earth, west, and summer; Inthe upper righthand corner is "Kam" which consists of one solid line surrounded by twobroken lines and represents water, north, and winter; In the lower lefthand corner is "I"
which consists of one broken line surrounded by two solid lines and represents fire, south, and autumn.

Definition of Tae KwonDo"Tae" means "foot" or "to strike with the feet". "Kwon" means "hand", or "to strike with the
hand". "Do" means discipline, art, or way. Hence TaeKwonDo(foot-hand-way) means
literally "the art of the feet and the hands" or "the art of kicking and punching".
Definition of Tang Soo DoThe Way Of The Worthy Hand or Tang Soo Do was developed from the ancient style of Subak
as well as Northern style Kung Fu from China.
Definition of HapkidoTo combine in harmony the power of the mind and body or the way of coordinated power. A
complete self defense system, Hapkido incorporates the redirection of force found in Aikido
and Ju Jitsu, the devastating joint locks and throws found in Chinese systems (also known as
Chin Na), and the kicking and striking techniques of Tae Kwon Do.
Definition of WushuCombining the Chinese terms w!(Martial, War, or Combat) with sh (art form), Wushu
literally means martial arts and can therefore technically be used to describe any and all
martial arts. Most people, however, use it to describe various chinese styles of martial arts.

Definition of Hung GarThis is a southern Chinese martial art originating from southern shaolin Kung Fu styles and
is usually referred to as Southern style Kung Fu. Unlike most styles of Chinese martial arts,
practitioners of Hung Gar rely a great deal on brute force while slowly, over a period of time, developing an internal focus and grace.
Definition of Northern Shaolin (Long Fist) Kung FuConsidered to be the original Kung Fu system dating back thousands of years, it is the most
widely practiced style in China today. This style is most noted for its high kicks, devastating
acrobatic kicks, swift footwork, flowing movement, and an emphasis on agility, flexibility,
stamina, speed, and aesthetics.

Korean Counting
48
There are two different numbering systems that are used by Koreans. The first
numbering system is used when counting, or when only speaking of the numbers
themselves. The first ten numbers in this system are as follows:
1 - hana
2 - dul
3 - set
4 - net
5 - tasot
6 - yasot
7 - ilgop
8 - yadol
9 - ahop
10 - yul
The stress in "hana", "tasot", and "yasot" is on the first syllable; In "ilgop",
"yadol", and ahop, its on the second. In counting cadence in TaeKwonDo, this
is so emphasized that the other syllable frequently almost disappears (e.g., "han",
"das", "yos", "lgop", "hop", etc.), although this is not the case in our school.
-
7/25/2019 Kingdom Warriors Martial Arts & Tricking Student Manual
49/49
The other numbering system (which is of Chinese origin) is used in most other
cases and is often used where Americans would use ordinal numbers (such as
"first", "second", etc ...). For example, this second numbering system is used when
describing a person's rank: a first degree black belt would be an "il dan". The first
ten numbers in this numbering system are as follows:
1 - il2 - ee
3 - sam
4 - sa
5 - oh
6 - yuk
7 - chil
8 - pil/pal
9 - koo
10 - ship/sip
The final `l' in "chil" and "pal" isn't rounded, like an American `l' .... It's a much
shorter sound, sort of like the initial `l' in "let", but even shorter. It's not like the
`l' in "ball".
When pronouncing the word "ship", you must notemphasise the "sh" sound. It's
almost more like "sip" with a sort of a lisp. If you pronounce it like "sh" in "shell",
then you are referring to something else.
Even though this second numbering system may correspond to ordinal numbers
in English in some cases, these are not ordinal numbers. Koreans use a separate
set of words for ordinal numbers.
