Introduction
Ministry of Education in Bahrain provides:
free education
for all: Bahraini and non-Bahraini students
in public schools.
with compulsory Basic Education.
ICT Infrastructure and Facilities
In 1985: ICT has been taught as a subject.
In 1997/1998: ICT (Internet) was used on a
wide scale in the education sector and as a
means for teaching study subjects.
In 2001, the ministry set a clear vision and a
strategic plan in implementing ICT across all
educational levels by accomplishing a new e-
learning environment.
ICT Infrastructure and Facilities
In 2002, UNESCO and the MOE
established partnership and held an
international conference to establish a
national policy in Science, Technology and
Innovation (STI) including ICT in education
as an important aspect in that conference.

• His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al
Khalifa launched the project in Al Hidaya
Secondary Boys School on 18/1/2005

Project’s Mission
• The Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of
Bahrain looks forward to utilizing Information
and Communication Technology (ICT) in
learning and teaching processes on sound
educational bases in the direction to support
the new generation with the necessary
competencies, behaviors and skills as one of
the means to transform the Kingdom of
Bahrain society into a Knowledge-based
Economy

Electronic boards provides interactivity, thrill, and fun
for students and they are authoring tools for teachers.

Laptops became the main device that assist teachers
in the educational process. All schools were provided
with laptops.

Document camera is an advanced device which is
used for recording and presenting educational
lessons. It has high quality features in zooming and
in photo and video recording. It is a tool for content
production.

Virtual lab is a software which helps learners stimulate

• To develop an environment for open access,
KHSFP tested Moodle, a popular content
management system which is used as
Educators’ Forum (learning Communities).
• It is used for collaboration, communication,
training and publishing.
Content Management System
• Moodle was customised by the technical
team in KHSFP to create an OpenContent
directory.
• Teachers were encouraged to add their
lessons in the directory.
