Module One: Life style: (Describing a place)
There are many places to visit to spend your time round Bahrain such as
markets, cinemas, forts and restaurants. But my favorite place among them all is
Dana mall.
Dana mall is one of the famous malls in Bahrain. It is very big and modern
and it consists of two floors . It’s located in Sanabis . I think that everybody likes to
go shopping there because there are almost everything like clothes, shoes, toys,
restaurants and about ten cinemas.
I usually go there with my family at the weekends. I also go shopping there
with my friends. It is a very nice place to celebrate special occasions like birthdays
and you can go there to see a movie. I love shopping there because you can find
everything. Also, I like playing in Fotoon World, having a meal in the mall or
hanging about with my friends.
I have a lot of fun in Dana Mall and I think you should go there as you will
have a great time. I think you will like it as well.

Module One: Life style: (A friendly letter)
Dear Nancy,
Hi, how are you? Sorry I didn't write earlier because I was really
busy last week. So I am sending you this letter to tell you all
about my routine and to update you with my recent news.
Guess what? I've got a new job, I work as a reporter in "The
Teens Magazine". I usually start my work at 6 am, and finish at 5
pm. After work I often go to my grandma's house and gather with
my relatives, and we really have fun together. Then around 8 pm
I go back home and sometimes I do some work and then sleep at
10.
These days I'm doing a report about the tourist sites here in
Bahrain. It's my first report, therefore I'm working really hard in
gathering information, photographing, and making interviews.
My friends at work are so friendly and kind. This weekend they
are inviting me for dinner as I'm a new mate in the magazine.
I have to stop now because I have to finish the report and hand it
in tomorrow morning. Write me back and tell me about your
latest news.
With love Jean

Module Two: Heroes: (Describing a hero/ favourite person)
I’ve got three brothers but my favourite one is Harry. He’s the oldest:
he’s twenty-six and he’s in his last year at university. He’s studying
aeronautical engineering because he loves aeroplanes. Whenever he sees
one in the sky stops and tells me what type it is. His two dreams are to
make aeroplanes for a large company and to fly his own plane.
I think he’s very attractive but he’s very shy with. He’s quite tall,
about 1 metre 90. He’s not very strong or athletic. He’s got big dark eyes
and curly brown hair like my mother. He’s got big hands and long fingers.
He could be a great pianist or even a basketball player. I really like his
smile-it’s one of his nicest features. He wears casual clothes-jeans, a shirt
and a jumper. He doesn’t like to wear trainers, he likes comfortable shoes.
What I really like about him is that he is patient and generous. He
always helps me with my homework even if he has an important exam the
next day. I know I sometimes get on his nerves because I’m a bit slow with
Maths but he never shouts or gets angry. Although he’s a bit shy, he’s easy-
going and fun to be with. He loves taking our dog for a walk early in the
morning.
He loves reading and going to the cinema. He spends a lot of time
reading science-fiction novels and every Saturday he goes to the cinema
with his friends. He also likes sports but he is not a fanatic like my other
brothers who watch every football match there is on TV. He hasn’t got a
many friends. I love my other brothers too, but Harry is somebody really
special to me.

Module Two: Heroes: (Story)
Our lives are filled with ups and downs and unexpected events happy, sad
or scary. Last week I went to a restaurant to have dinner with my friends. The
weather was great and the restaurant was near my house so we decided to walk!
But things did not go as we have planned for.
While we were walking in the street , we suddenly heard someone
screaming “help me!". There was a man trapped in a burning house and the
people were staring at him while he was shouting in a state of a shock. The smoke
was thick like big black clouds with huge flames of the fire. We felt very afraid. I
shouted : “move on call the emergency services!”. My friend took her mobile and
called the fire fighters and the ambulance. Meanwhile I asked some men to bring
a ladder. When they brought it a man climbed and rescue the man who was
shouting all the time! It was an unforgettable scary moment, but end up with a
happy ending.
Finally the fire fighters arrived and the ambulance took the man to the
hospital. Yesterday we visited him and he was fine with no serious injuries. He
thanked us for our actions to help him.

Module Three: Celebrations: (Describe Events: Festival)
My favourite festival is Eid-ul-Fitr, which comes after Ramadan and
marks the 1st day of Shawal-the 10th month in Hijra Calendar. Ramadan is
the month when we Muslims fast. That means we try not to have anything
to eat or drink from dawn till sunset. Grownups and older children try to do
the whole month.
Preparations start days before the Eid comes. First, new clothes are
bought for everyone in the family. Men and boys prefer to get traditional
clothes: Thoub and Ghetra while women mostly like to buy jalabiah as Eid
dress. One night before the Eid, women and specially little girls have their
hand designed with henna. Besides, nuts and sweets are bought for the Eid.
When it is Eid day, men have to attend the Eid prayer in the mosque.
Meanwhile, women and little girls dress up with colorful clothes. Visiting
relatives and giving away some money are some traditions done on the Eid
day. Most Muslim families get together for a big lunch with a range of
different foods like Machboos or Biryani.
The Eid lasts for 3-4 days and always leave us with unforgettable
memories. The best part of Eid is the gathering of families and their
relatives but for the kids is the amount of money they receive as ‘Eidyah’.

Module Three: Celebrations: (Describe Events: Ceremony)
One of my best ceremonies are birthday parties. Last year in December, we had a big class after school gathering to celebrate our classmate’s-Sara- birthday party. We held it at a fast food restaurant and invited all the students in our class and some of our teachers. Sara’s parents and some of her relatives came as well.
Before hands, we met to plan for the birthday party. Each one of us has something to do. Someone had to buy the cake and order the sweets. Another one had to design and send the invitation cards. Our class leader had to collect money for the big gift and to reserve the place. Then came my role to buy the present and order some flowers Our classroom teacher helped us book the restaurant.
On the day of the birthday party, we were the first to arrive- the class leader and I to make sure everything is ready. The restaurant staff decorated the place with balloons and hanging lights. Once Sara arrived, the lights were switched off . A big clown brought the cake and we lit the candles. Then Sara had to blow the candles out. One could hear the sound of clapping and our voices singing “Happy Birthday to You” song from a distance outside the restaurant hall. Later, the guests meal was served and Sara’s mother gave us our portions from the delicious birthday fruit cake. After that, we passed our time playing games such as puzzles, tongue twisters and chasing. My best part was when we all danced upon listening to some of our favourite Arabic songs.
The celebration lasted till very late at night. Our parents who were waiting for us in the parks joined us as well. It was the most enjoyable party I have ever been to. We all felt very happy all through the party. Of course, Sara was the happiest girl on earth because she received tens of presents.
