Kindergarten Newsletter Week of October 12, 2015 Mrs. Riedy *I loved seeing the responses from parents this week about the rhyming HW. It looks like it created a great opportunity to practice rhyming in a really fun way! I will look for more homework games in the future. Your children were SO excited to tell me about how many times they won against you! *We had our first mystery reader on Wednesday and the kids had a blast! Feel free to email me if you’d like to sign up! Learning Objectives: Fundations- the letters ‘c’ and ‘o’ Language Arts- identify rhyming words, practice the “Lips the Fish” strategy, make predictions & ask questions about a text Writing- thinking about choices we make as illustrators, adding sentences to our stories Math- create shape puzzles, use 10 frames to count and create sets, create shape collages, and identify shapes by their feel. Science/Social Studies- We will learn about Christopher Columbus and pumpkins Shutterfly Picture Share Site: To receive email updates when I add new pictures to the site, sign into your account and click the drop down menu on the right side that says Members. Click Edit my settings. Select the Email from Site tab. Check the box that says posts new photos to receive an email when I upload new pictures. A parent in our class shared they downloaded the app with Shutterfly and they receive a notification on their phone when pictures are shared. Student Spotlight: The student of the week is Brennan Tadrzynski! Brennan loves to write stories and is very creative with the details he adds into his sketches. He is GREAT at being a kind friend. You will often see Brennan checking on a sad student, saying an encouraging word, and cheering on his classmates. We are lucky to have Brennan in our class!
