Reading

▸ Grab a book and try reading sitting on the stairs or turn off the lights and read with a flashlight.

▸ Read a book and think about what happens after the story ends. *Hint: this is just like how the epilogue in Nuts to You told us what happened to the squirrels after the book ended. What did the characters in your book do after the story ended? Was everyone happy? Draw what happens after the book ends. You can share your thoughts on Seesaw!

▸ Make as many sight words as you can with one can of

Playdough. Out of playdough? Try making your own with this recipe!

Writing

4

Visit Seesaw to practice writing your letters!

▸ Letter Writing: Write the upper and lowercase letters of the alphabet. Then read the letters and say the sounds they make. You can complete this handwriting challenge as a Seesaw activity if you are using a touchscreen device or you can use this writing paper. Print a copy or use this attachment as an example to make your own writing paper!

Example:

▸ Visit seesaw to make your own rebus story or

use paper and pencil. A rebus story uses a

picture to replace a word.

▸ Think about what Rocky might be doing right now.

Write to tell about your prediction and add an illustration too!

▸ Make a list of your favorite toys. For an extra challenge, put those

toy’s names in alphabetical order!

▸ Hopscotch - Go outside and use some chalk to draw a hopscotch frame on the ground. Practice hopping to the numbers and saying them out loud as you play. Try calling out addition and subtraction expressions as you go. Here’s a video about how you can play.Challenge: Make your hopscotch board go all the way up to 20!

▸ Use your toys to act out a subtraction story problem. Get a piece of paper and drawyour own setting for your subtraction stories and write a number sentence to go with them. Example: There are 10 toy animals on a hill. 2 animals ran down the hill to go eat some grass. Now there are 8 animals left on the hill. 10-2=8
