The Park Hyatt certainly looked “Simply Irresistible” for the special milestone 30th Anniversary KTF Gala on 13 October, thanks to the generosity of LOUISE HIGGINS & FUNCTION ACCESSORIES. To set the scene Louie & The Party Boyz wowed guests with their rendition of the famous Robert Palmer hit of 1988 with the gorgeous dancers adding that “Simply Irresistible” touch. John Deeks was fantastic as MC ensuring that the night ran smoothly and, given that the night was jam packed full of fun, fundraising and entertainment, no mean feat!

Thanks to the sponsorship of ABBE CORRUGATED CARDBOARD PACKAGING, the fabulous Louie & the Party Boyz continued to entertain the enthusiastic crowd, with a packed dance floor at every opportunity. What a band! To help guests better understand the purpose of Kids Tennis Foundation and to set the scene for a successful fund-raising evening, guests were shown “The Story of KTF”,

which was produced at no cost by the wonderful SEVEN NETWORK. And, what a reaction with many commenting on the wonderful achievements of KTF over the past 34 years and the exciting Ken Rosewall Regional Project. And how special that “Rafa” aka Elliott Loney made a special guest appearance to help launch the new KTF GOLD MEDAL SUPPORTER campaign. With KTF Founder & Chairman as Guest Interviewer, what an insight into the tennis scene! Even “Bruce McAvaney” was there to have a chat with tennis gun Thanasi Kokkinakis, who, along with young tennis ace Storm Sanders, presented gold medals to Valda Walsh (REIV) and Julie & Daniel O’Sullivan (Abbe Corrugated) in particular.

There is a big short fall between the funding received and what it costs to run all the KTF programs, hence these fund raising events are extremely important. SINCERE THANKS TO ALL.

Mikey De Courtney Feeney, a passionate Tennis Player, Fan and Coach to underprivileged kids in Sydney, tragically passed away recently at the age of 31. Mikey worked with The Mitchellake Group in their Sydney operations and on behalf of the business and his colleagues, we wanted to provide an annual contribution to the Kids Tennis Foundation of $2,500 to honour Mikey and to contribute to the strong passion Mikey had in his life around Tennis and his commitment to Kids Tennis Coaching in particular.

Kyle McGinty Group Manager Talent & Culture, The Mitchellake Group

Kids Tennis Foundation would like to thank The Mitchellake Group for this wonderful gesture. Mikey must have been one truly remarkable person, obviously adored by family and friends and his fantastic work colleagues. What a wonderful way to honour Mikey and, at the same time, help underprivileged kids through KTF programs as a result of this generous donation from The Mitchellake Group. What a legacy!

KIDS TENNIS FOUNDATION HAS JUST TURNED 34!To celebrate and help ensure the future of KTF, the “GOLD MEDAL SUPPORTER” Campaign was launched at the special 30th Anniversary KTF Gala.

Among the first to commit to this fundraiser were Valda Walsh AM, on behalf of the REIV Charitable Foundation and Julie O’Sullivan along with son Daniel, on behalf of Abbe Corrugated Cardboard Packaging. These wonderful supporters were presented with their Gold Medal and a superb bottle of French Champagne beautifully presented in a gold box of course!!!

Valda has been in real estate for more than 50 years and has been the recipient of many, many awards the most recent being an AM for her services to real estate and charitable causes. The REIV has the support and involvement of REIV Members. As a team, they make a difference to the lives of many, in this case the lives of children in KTF programs. Julie O’Sullivan has been on the KTF Social Committee for 20 years. Julie and her family have been incredible, generous supporters of KTF this entire time though their company, Abbe Corrugated Cardboard Packaging. Can’t thank you enough.

KTF programs continue to be conducted in many regional areas around Australia, giving many more underprivileged children the opportunity to “pick up a racquet and have a hit” for the first time in their lives, thanks to the Ken Rosewall Regional Project.

KEN ROSEWALL REGIONAL PROJECT

NEWBOROUGH EAST PRIMARY SCHOOLNewborough East Primary has had the pleasure to participate in the Kids Tennis Foundation program as part of the Ken Rosewall Regional Project. Andrew Peavey runs an excellent program that is extremely engaging for the students and the staff. He sets lessons and activities that allow for a wide range of skill levels and the students enjoy the challenges that he offers. He quickly establishes an excellent rapport with the students and the kids look forward to the sessions. As a PE teacher I have seen the students bring the skills learned to my classes and I am easily able to build on these and assist the kids in transferring these to similar sports. I have also noticed a positive impact on the staff attending his sessions. It has been great to see them participate with the students and develop their own skills not only in the sport, but in how to approach the teaching of a sport.I hope to participate in the program again as I believe it provides excellent opportunities for our students.Mike PullarPE Teacher

BENDIGO VIOLET STREET PRIMARY SCHOOLThe tennis program was fantastic. Bree was an exceptional teacher who developed a great rapport with the students. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to participate in tennis skills. The students would eagerly look forward to each Monday afternoon, walking down to the local court and participating in Tennis. It was great for their self-esteem and self-confidence and it also improved their social skills. Most of these students would not have the opportunity to play Tennis especially on a real tennis court so it was a great opportunity for them.A big thanks to Steve, Susie and Bree…..we would love to be included in the Ken Rosewell Regional Project next year if able.Emma Grant PE Teacher & Sport Coordinator

KANGAROO FLAT PRIMARY SCHOOLThe opportunity for our low-socioeconomic students to have access to fantastic coaches is something beyond everyday academic learning. The students thoroughly enjoyed a physical activity that majority would not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in.Taking part in these tennis sessions assists our school in developing the whole-child by challenging their tolerance, their resilience and displaying respect for their coach.Travis ColleySports Co-ordinator/P.E. ST JOSEPH’S, GAYNDAHWith the support of Mr Kevin Banner we have enjoyed a range of tennis based activities throughout Term 4. The students are always engaged and enthused to be involved in each of the activities. We value the opportunity to support tennis in our community and Kevin has become a solid foundation from which we can learn and grow a passion for the sport. We value the support provided by Kids Tennis Foundation to make this opportunity availableAmy Glisson

KANDANGA STATE SCHOOL Kandanga State School recently hosted a 10 week Hot Shots Tennis Program with Gympie and District Tennis Association Coach Brett Cottrill thanks to Kids Tennis Foundation. The students enjoyed the experiences and will now be able to play at lunch times using the skills gained over the length of the program. The principal Mr Warwick Lucht was very supportive of the program and commented: “It is great to see the students able to challenge each other in a fun environment. The students are all keen to continue playing tennis and improving their skills and having fun, as you can see in these photos.”

NORTHAMPTON DHSRecently children from Northampton DHS participated in a KTF program thanks to the implementation of the Ken Rosewell Regional Project. This was a much needed boost to our children to be able to have a specialist sports coach teach them the sport of tennis. Colin Thompson (coach) was fantastic, he was enthusiastic and keen and knowledgeable and was able to get even our most reluctant students to get up and have a go. We had three classes participating and it was great to see the children so keen to have a go that they would line up ready to start well before their recess or lunch had finished!Paul Luxton

OUR LADY OF MT CARMEL SCHOOLWe were lucky enough to have coach Nick from Batavia Tennis Coaching come to our school for the program and he was fantastic. He was always prepared with fun, energetic, age appropriate activities for each of the classes. The students all remained engaged in the lessons and looked forward to them each week. I saw improvement in the skills of the students especially those who had never had the chance to participate in tennis lessons before. It also provided me with useful ideas on how to incorporate the tennis skills into little games and activities. We were all very thankful for the chance to receive the lessons and greatly appreciated the time put in by Coach Nick and Coach Colin Thompson in organising and implementing them. We would highly recommend this great program. Thanks for the opportunity KTF!Tracey Messina

AND YET MORE WONDERFUL FEEDBACK….ALBANVALE PRIMARY SCHOOL

Tuan has been conducting the Kids Tennis Foundation program at Albanvale P.S this year. We have rotated the program between the grades 3 to 6 so a total of 146 students have been able to access the program. The students have loved the program. They look forward to it each week and are disappointed when their designated lessons are finished. Tuan is such a dedicated teacher and the students love his approach and attitude..he even arrives earlier during recess to engage with the students and to play games with them. Tuan has been able to boost their enthusiasm, self-esteem, self-confidence and be able to improve their skill development during this program.

I thank you for the program which has provided our students with the opportunity to receive professional coaching they would not be able to receive otherwise. In addition, through this program I have a student who now has taken up professional lessons outside of school hours.

Thanks again for providing this program for the students at Albanvale P.S

Grace Gr 5/6T

Tennis was a great experience and it was a good way of learning how to collaborate. Tennis helped our school in many ways, such as learning, being active, responsibility and more. I really liked and enjoyed the tennis program. Tuan was a really supportive coach and demonstrated skills really well. I learnt how to hit a tennis ball with the racquet properly as well.

I personally really enjoyed it. It was extremely fun and I’m thankful that we had this free opportunity. Our coach was really supportive and he taught me the basics and skills for tennis.

I think I have learnt lots about tennis and it is so much fun and every week I cannot wait for Tuan to come.
