HYATT REGENCY DANANG RESORT AND SPA Vietnam

With a stunning location on 600 metres of beachfront, the Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa is a great family-friendly option for your stay on the central coast of Vietnam. The hotel is only twenty minutes transfer from Danang International Airport too, another plus after a long flight with children. From chic Standard Rooms to spacious 3 Bedroom Ocean Villas, there are accommodation options to suit families of all shapes and sizes.

Within the resort there are a host of amenities that little ones will love; the waterslide in the main pool and the rock climbing wall for starters! At Camp Hyatt, 3 to 12-year-olds are treated to face-painting, cookery lessons, arts and crafts and more. They can also take a dip in their very own garden pool, all under the supervision of trained staff. If you’re at a loose end whilst they’re having all that fun, we recommend a trip to VIE Spa, where you’ll find treatments that draw on local ingredients and traditions and promise to ease you into the holiday spirit.

For dinner, there are a pleasing range of options, from Vietnamese-style family dining to Italian buffets. Plus Baguette, the resort’s own bakery, sells fresh bread and pastries throughout the day; perfect for snack time.

This hotel is ideally placed to take in Vietnamese culture, too. The nearby Cham Museum houses an extensive collection of centuries old art and architecture. Or why not visit UNESCO World Heritage Site, My Son Sanctuary, and explore the Hindu and Cambodian ruins there?

Your water babies can hone their skills on a stay here, with swimming and surf safety lessons available on request.

Family OfferComplimentary daily activities for children aged 7 years old and above including: Climbing wall, yoga, volleyball, beach soccer, plus swimming lessons and kite flying lessons

Welcome to Kids Beyond the Med, a short brochure designed to give you a flavour of the kinds

of luxury family holidays and amazing experiences we can offer you worldwide. Accompanying

our Europe-focused family brochure, Kids in the Med, this offering combines the portfolios of

sister companies Western & Oriental and ITC Luxury Travel, to create a handpicked selection

of the finest family-friendly hotels, resorts and retreats around the world. I’m proud that within

these pages there is true diversity of destinations, accommodation and experiences, meaning

whatever your family’s interests, there’s sure to be something to excite you.

As CEO of the ITC Luxury Travel Group and a mother of two young children, I know that

parenthood doesn’t have to stop you seeing the world; but it does require a bit more travel

planning! I am passionate about providing you with all the advice and support you need, both

during and after your booking and throughout your holiday experience, in order to provide your

family with the special, stress-free holiday you all deserve.

We know it’s those little extras that make a big difference. That might mean anything from pre-

ordering your nappies or pushchair to arranging for sailing lessons for your teenager; we can

do all of these and everything in between. But your holiday doesn’t start when you arrive at your

destination; we want you to relax as soon as you shut the front door, meaning we’ll do all we can

to ensure that your flights and transfers, however long, run as smoothly as possible!

All of the properties featured in Kids Beyond the Med meet our exacting standards as luxury tour

operators, meaning you’ll never need have to compromise on comfort, or forgo those ‘grown-

up’ extras like great restaurants or beautiful surroundings. But the focus has been on places kids

and teens will love, because we all know that if they’re happy, so are we!

We’ve handpicked these properties to showcase the breadth of our family-friendly offerings

worldwide, from affordable luxury resorts to ultra-luxe 5 star hotels; from trekking with elephants

in Thailand to flopping on the beach in Dubai. But this is just a taster; if you’d like to explore

more options don’t hesitate to call our Travel Specialists, they will be happy to hear all about

your dream family holiday and then do their utmost to make it reality!

Happy travels,

Jennifer Atkinson, CEO

Better than the basics...This collection of hotels and specialty holidays have much in common with each other; ample children’s provision; comfortable, family-friendly accommodation; stellar service. But they have been selected for Kids Beyond the Med because they also offer something special. It might be the experience of lifetime, like getting to see Asian Elephants in their natural habitat or it could be an extra-special children’s programme. Flicking through this brochure, we hope you’ll see what we mean!

Experts on hand...When you book with us, you’ll receive personalised service from a dedicated Travel Specialist who will listen to the needs and preferences of your whole family and strive to deliver all that you want and more. With such an experienced team, you can feel sure that the person you’re speaking to has travelled extensively, often to the region or even the hotel you yourself are booking! Many of our Travel Specialists have children of their own, as do our Concierge service, who will be on hand to prebook any meals or baby equipment you might need. This level of customer care continues throughout your trip so, if you need anything, you know you can call us. Of course, you’ll always have the financial security and peace of mind that comes with booking with a fully bonded UK tour operator, meaning that you’re protected through ABTA and ATOL.

Your family is unique, and so are our holidays...We know that every family is different, and increasingly so! You may be travelling with step-children, or siblings with big age gaps. Or perhaps you’re bringing the grandparents along and are concerned there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We’re here to create a bespoke, luxury family holiday that is tailored to your needs. Within these pages are many options to suit a range of ages and interests and we are looking forward to speaking to you and talking you through even more fantastic options.

Page 5: Kids beyond the Med

Getting there...The idea of travelling long-haul with kids of any age can be daunting, whether you’re worried about your baby crying on the flight, or an older one asking “are we nearly there yet?” a few too many times! As an established UK tour operator, we have all the benefits that come with being the partner to many major airlines, each of which we feel confident in recommending for long-haul family travel. These carriers have children’s menus, loads of in-flight entertainment suitable for all ages, special kids’ travel packs and more besides.

British Airways fly to a host of destinations worldwide - from the USA to Thailand - and have a reputation for excellent service that extends to all ages. We love their Skyflyers activity backs and little touches such as printable baggage tags especially for kids. Another UK based airline, Virgin Atlantic come highly recommended by our tiny travellers, both for their excellent in-flight entertainment and their tasty, healthy, kids’ meals created by TV cook Lorraine Pascal! Virgin are a great choice for Caribbean flights, with direct services to several islands.

But it doesn’t stop there; we work with a number of international carriers to bring you the widest choice possible, whether you want a direct flight, or would prefer to stop over for a few nights and make your family holiday a multi-centre break. And many of these airlines boast some pretty special features too!

Etihad’s Flying Nanny Etihad is the national airline of the United Arab Emirates and really goes the extra mile for travelling families, providing a complimentary ‘Flying Nanny’ service on all long-haul flights. All nannies are approved by a UK childcare training college and are on-hand to offer advice and support during the flight, from helping to settle children for bed to keeping them entertained with hand puppets, competitions and even face-painting!

Air New Zealand’s Skycouch™With direct flights from London to Los Angeles, Air New Zealand are a popular choice when flying to the States, with their Economy Skycouch™ being a great choice for families. This trio of Economy seats can be booked by two passengers travelling together. Flick up the leg rest to 90 degrees, push back the arm rests and you have a flexible, safe, flat surface for little ones to play on or a comfy space to curl up and nap.

Qatar Airways’ Spongebob specialitiesOn Qatar Airways flights, Spongebob Squarepants activity packs are given out and kids’ meals are served in a Spongebob lunchbox, which your child gets to keep! Those travelling with babies will much appreciate the priority check-in, option of a bassinet seat, and special kit with essentials such as nappies, food and soft toys. With connections worldwide via Doha, Qatar Airways is a great choice for flights to the Indian Ocean and Far East.

Once you disembark, we will do everything we can to guarantee a smooth transfer to your hotel, from fast-tracking you through the airport to arranging drinks and snacks en route.

Catch the sun in any seasonThe Caribbean enjoys warm weather all year round, especially between December and March. Make Christmas different this year with a feast on the beach, or trade Easter eggs for coconuts as you enjoy spring in the warm Caribbean sun. Due to more frequent rains, summer time is ‘low-season’, so travelling at this time can offer great value for families. Of course, we can tailor a host of amazing holiday options to the needs of your family throughout the year.

How can we get there? There are many direct flights from London to the larger Caribbean islands such as Barbados and Antigua, from where there are plenty of connecting flights. But don’t worry too much about the details; we’ll arrange everything so all you have to do is arrive at the airport!

Make family memories in the Caribbean sunOur experts know very well that the perfect family holiday is different for everyone. With fun-packed resorts, bustling towns and outstanding natural beauty you’ll never be short of things to do in the Caribbean. The warm sea here is famed for its idyllic diving spots, with fish of every colour darting through the reefs.

Wherever you go, you’ll always be next door to paradise. Each island has its own identity here. Barbados and Jamaica are packed with vibrant resorts and plenty of activities to keep your family buzzing for months afterwards. Just across the Caribbean Sea, you can find exotic wonders such as the twin peaks of the Pitons in St Lucia and a beach for every day of the year in Antigua.

Islets and secluded retreats Spend your holiday away from the hustle and bustle of modern life in your own island retreat. We can arrange holidays to small, sleepy islands such as Nevis or Guadeloupe, and some of our resorts are even located on completely private islands. Bliss!

Island HoppingCan’t choose which Caribbean island to take your family holiday on? Ask a Travel Specialist about a multi-centre escape or bespoke island-hopping itinerary to experience the glorious contrasts of the Caribbean for yourselves!

Just a taste of the CaribbeanWe could only fit a handful of island destinations into Kids Beyond the Med, but our Caribbean portfolio extends far and wide, from St Kitts to Cuba, Barbados to the British Virgin Islands. Whatever your dream location, you can be sure we’ll get you there!

Take a natural backdrop of dazzling beaches, swaying palms and turquoise seas; add a good pinch of laid-back atmosphere, season with colourful carnivals and reggae - then finish with a sprinkling of first class hotels, all offering superb family facilities. What you have is the easy-going Caribbean; a region we know well, which extends a warm welcome to families of all shapes and sizes.

You could lose yourself in the fantastically diverse cities, disappear into the Wild West or set off on an adventure with your own family road-trip through the heart of the States. Let our experts craft the perfect experience for you and your family.

Pick the best time of year for your American vacationThe USA is so vast that there’s always something happening, no matter the season. Page 15: Kids beyond the Med

Ranch HolidaysGet a taste of the authentic western lifestyle at a ranch. Saddle up alongside your family as you explore the awe-inspiring canyons and mountain ranges. Experience the thrill of watching a real rodeo and maybe have a go at tossing a lasso yourself.

Fly-drive itinerariesWhy stay in one place when you have the whole United States to explore? We can tailor itineraries to your interest, taking in national parks, beaches or just good American food. Make sure you stop off for pancakes at a road-side diner, just like they do in the movies!

Making the journey across the AtlanticGetting to the USA is simple with direct UK flights to state capitals, and regular connecting flights to smaller cities. Fights from the UK to the US can take up to 7 to 11 hours, depending on your destination.

An American Dream family holidayThere’s something for all ages in the States, whether six, sixteen or sixty. With exciting theme parks like Disneyworld and Universal Studios, thrilling Baseball matches, incredible beaches and wondrous national parks, there’s an adventure in each of the 50 states. And with some of the best golf courses in the world, fans of the fairways will be happy too.

City breaksSnap up the sights in New York, experience the vibe and glamour of LA, be blown away by Chicago’s charm, or splash the cash in Boston. And with connecting flights between the big cities, you could even enjoy a distinctly urban multi-centre holiday.

Theme ParksYou don’t have to be a kid to enjoy the USA’s epic theme parks. If you’re an adrenaline junkie, film fan or wannabe Disney royalty, you’ll have a ball. Most famously, Disney World in Florida hosts fun for all the family, from little mermaids to little Prince Charmings. Close by, Universal Studios thrills all ages with its intense rides and slice of magic at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Page 16: Kids beyond the Med

Explore the vast landscapes of the Wild West the traditional way. Our ranch holidays let you experience the rugged charms of western life. Whatever you want from your ranch holiday, we can hook up your family with the perfect escape.

Wranglers, cowboys and blazing saddlesThere’s no better place to ride than with people who are passionate about the wrangling way of life. It’s a great place to learn to ride too, so ask a Travel Specialist about ranches with kids’ riding programmes. And even if you’ve no intention of saddling up, there’s plenty of action in the shape of hayrides, guided hikes or rodeos.

Pick the right time and place for your ranch holidayThe best time to visit Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Montana and Wyoming is between May and September as these states are more temperate. Perfect for a summer holiday adventure!

Ranches in Arizona and Texas come into their own during the Easter period and October to December, as temperatures can rise up to 40 degrees in the summer months. That’s hot!

A family ranch holiday that will go down in historyOur favourite family ranches combine adventure and excitement with relaxation and leisure. Some ranches can even organise a private tour just for your family, tailoring the experience for your needs. After all, you’re never too young or old to be a cowboy.

Fun for the whole family

Our favourite ranches have amazing kids’ activity programmes packed with fun-filled days with riding, animals and lots of games. Some activities are age-restricted, but don’t worry because while parents go out on trail ride, kids can still have the perfect ranch adventure with a host of supervised activities.

Kids’ activitiesFriendly, experienced staff will make sure your kids have as much fun as possible. Most of our ranches have facilities to teach kids horse-riding with well-trained instructors. Kids can also look after the animals, learn to rope, make Indian crafts, learn archery and fish in their own fishing hole.

Post Ranch adventuresWe’re great fans of combining fly-drive holidays with ranches so you can experience America on horseback as well as on the roads. Take the chance to enjoy a city break in Las Vegas or a luxurious resort stay in Scottsdale. Then explore the American landscape by travelling to the Rocky Mountain National Park, Yellowstone National Park and many authentic western towns.

Broaden your child’s horizons with a trip to the idyllic island jewels of the Indian Ocean and enjoy close encounters of the natural kind in the warm waters of the Maldives and Seychelles, or head to Mauritius for a fascinating cultural experience.

Year-round paradiseThe Indian Ocean is magnificent all year round, but we believe the best time is between November and March. While the monsoon season spreads through the summer months, it usually only ever rains for about an hour at a time and low-season means more value for summer holidays! Snorkelling and diving are especially incredible in April and October, when the water temperatures are around 28°c.

Travelling to the islandsFlights to the Indian Ocean usually mean a stop, which is often in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. It’s a great opportunity to stay longer in the cities for a stopover (and some shopping!). Of course, you could also have a multi-centre trip in the region itself. Take a speedboat and race across the deep blue to another island, or catch a seaplane and see the atolls from the air as you fly by.

Share your Indian Ocean experience with your familyWhether your destination of choice is the Maldives or Mauritius, you’ll find plenty to do with your family. White sand beaches, turquoise ocean and luscious palm forests are abundant wherever you stay. But you don’t just have to be on the coast to have fun. With hikes, nature trails, climbing and cycling, you can explore every inch of paradise.

Maldives

You’ll find your own piece of paradise amid the turquoise waters of these iconic islands. No cars, shallow warm waters and a gentle pace of life make the Maldives the perfect setting for precious time with your family. Explore the abundant coral reefs that teem with colourful sea-life, or delight your taste buds with some freshly caught fish.

MauritiusMauritius offers something for the whole family. The island is home to some stunning scenery and a hike through her National Parks reveals waterfalls, dormant volcanoes and a huge array of native wildlife. Come to this wonderful island to explore the underwater landscape snorkelling, diving or even on an underwater safari.

SeychellesThe lush islands of the Seychelles are home to some of the most iconic beaches on the planet. Here you’ll find a great diversity of wildlife and an abundance of exceptional dive sites. Spend time island hopping in this archipelago, taking in watersports on Mahé before heading to a remote private island for a bit of R&R.

Enjoy the Middle Eastern sun all year roundThe Middle Eastern heat can cause meltdowns, so we recommend you travel between mid October and mid April as the temperatures are cooler and most favourable for families with young children. So if you’re looking for a great medium-haul location for a Christmas or Easter holiday, this is a great shout. But if you’re travelling during the hotter summer months check out the impressive waterparks or Ski Dubai an indoor ski resort!

Flying to the Middle EastThere are many direct flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman which fly out of London and regional airports including Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh. These glittering Emirates make fantastic stand-alone destinations or with the Indian Ocean only a short onward flight away, you could combine your city break with an escape to the Seychelles, the Maldives, or even India and the Far East.

Live like a royal family! The Gulf States are known for incredible hotels, extravagant architecture and impeccable service. Here, you can venture out into the stunning desert landscapes and see who’s the best at sand-boarding, or stay on the beach and laze all day! Or if you want to have fun without getting sand everywhere, you can take the family to the Sega Republic – an indoor theme park.

Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi has its fair share of attractions. The city is home to the region’s first man-made white water rafting, kayaking and surf facility. For something a little less action-packed, we recommend taking ‘high’ tea on the 74th floor of the Etihad Towers. The observation deck offers the best views of the city and surrounding islands.

DubaiTeenagers will go mad for the Dubai Mall. It’s the largest shopping centre in the world, with over 1,200 retail outlets and a colossal aquarium. After shopping ‘til you drop, why not take time to relax on the soft sandy beaches of a waterfront resort? And don’t miss a trip up the Burj Khalifa tower to watch the sunset from the 124th floor. The Aquaventure water park is a great day out for the family too!

OmanThe beachside city in Oman, Muscat, carries a more traditional Arabian atmosphere compared with its neighbours. Stay at one of the city’s beach resorts where you can take advantage of the warm waters and explore one of Oman’s legendary dive sites. There’s nowhere better suited for a new diver to learn how to scuba.

Retreat further inland for some sand dune fun in the desert. You could try ‘dune-bashing’ which involves scrambling your way across the sandy dunes in a 4x4!

Fun for all the family? Surely not - isn’t there always at least one who’s unimpressed, tired or just plain pernickety? Well, prepare to be amazed when you take the family to the desert playgrounds of the Middle East, where state-of-the-art attractions include a ski-slope and man-made islands that can be seen from space. Everyone will discover something that amazes them!

Bustling cities, dramatic coastlines and lush tropical interiors - nowhere on Earth offers the diversity of the Far East for a family holiday that combines culture

and cuisine with eco adventure and possibly a little island escapism, and we’re delighted to be your personal, expert guide!

When is the best time to explore the east? The best times to visit Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam fit perfectly with Easter and Christmas. If you want to enjoy the east in the summer months, we suggest you relax at the beaches of Bali.

Monsoon seasons tend to be quieter, but don’t let the weather rain on your parade, ask your Travel Specialist for advice on where to travel during this period; in many places it never rains for more than an hour at a time!

Flying to the heart of the OrientFlights to the Far East take around 12 hours so a stopover is a good way to break up the journey. You can stop in Singapore and Hong Kong before getting a connecting flight to Bali. You can also get connecting flights from Dubai and Abu Dhabi and get a taste of all the different flavours the East has to offer.

Experience the exotic east with your familyWhatever you plan, we can help create the most magical family holiday. Explore the stunning ruins from a glorious past, trek through the jungle in search of elephants and tigers and relax on the palm-fringed beaches. Be amazed by the ark-like Singapore Zoo then find more wildlife than you can imagine in the rich waters around Indonesia.

Known as the Island of the Gods, Bali is as magical as it is beautiful. With white sands and some of the best scuba spots in the world, it’s a perfect beach retreat.

MalaysiaThe islands of Malaysia have everything. You’ll find tropical beaches, ancient rainforests, exciting regional cuisine, and a diverse group of championship golf courses.

VietnamWe’ll show you this soulful country in all its spiritual beauty, from the misty green mountains of Sapa to the mysterious wetlands of the Mekong Delta.

So much more to see...These are just a few of the destinations we can whisk you and yours away to. The Far East has far too many enthralling countries to fit in this little brochure...

Explore energetic cities and miles of exotic empty beaches, then take in the breathtaking beauty of Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

Roam through the rivers and jungles of Laos alongside elephants. Less visited than its Asian neighbours, it still holds on to its traditions.

One of the least visited countries in Asia, Burma (Myanmar) is a mystical land where traditions are still very much alive. The former British colony is steeped in history, culture and deep-rooted Buddhist beliefs.

From the intense Temple Market to the ‘Vegas of the East’ in Macau, life bursts from every street in Hong Kong. Just make sure you see the city at night from Victoria Peak.

Colonial heritage buildings contrast against slick, newly built skyscrapers. Stop over in Singapore for the towering shopping malls, to walk the metropolis and fill up on some of Asia’s most sought-after street food.

ELEPHANT HILLS Khao Sok National Park, Thailand

You’ll find Elephant Camp hidden amidst the rainforest, in the awesome natural scenery of Khao Sok National Park. Here you will encounter playful and majestic Asian elephants, getting to know them in a natural environment. With an ethical focus on animal welfare and conservation, you are not able to sit on or trek with the elephants, instead you share the rainforest surrounds with them and ‘muck in’ to help with their care. In short, this place is a young naturalist’s dream come true!

For further unique experiences you can explore the jungle on guided treks, take canoe safaris along the Sok River or enjoy a tour of the mangroves; all great ways to take in the majesty of the rainforest. Here you can swim in the lake and kayak through its channels in search of monkeys and birds.
