CLUB WELCOME

Blacktown City Football Club welcomes its members, players, families, supporters, and sponsors to our first home game of the season competing in the 2019 National Premier League NSW Men’s Competition.

What a way to commence the season with a local derby against the newly promoted Mt Druitt Town Rangers. We wish our neighbour’s well.

This pre-season has been a busy one with nine new faces replacing players that moved on to other adventures.

Adam Berry, Daniel Collins, and Manni Gonzales all return to the club after many years playing overseas and in the A League, along with Jackson Bandierra and William Mutch from Sydney FC, Leroy Jennings from Sutherland Sharks and James Demetriou from Sydney Olympic.

Josh Bartolotto and Henry Davies are youngsters to keep an eye out for and both Dylan Niski and last year’s NSW under 20’s player of the year Lachlan Campbell have been promoted to first team contracts.

The average age of this year’s squad is 22 and the experience of Lewis, Gibbs, Bragg and co will be needed to guide these exciting young talents around the park.

Blacktown City FC would like to thank all 2019 Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze corporate partners. We welcome back LBF Concrete, Millars Doors and Timbers and Lily Homes as First team sponsors. Our club can only survive via the support of you all.

Blacktown City FC wishes all our NPL, Boys Youth, Girls Conference League and SAP squads all the very best for the coming season, along with all of the staff who give up many hours to create a wonderful environment for football development.

And after a long day watching quality football why not walk over the bridge and enjoy quality food and a refreshing beverage at Lilys Bar and Function Centre, meet the players and watch the Man of the Match Presentation.

MATCH PREVIEW

A local derby will kick things off in Sydney’s West as the new kids on the block, Mt Druitt Town Rangers make the short trip to Lily Homes Stadium to take on their highly fancied brothers, Blacktown City in a match that either team will want to win for bragging rights.

A massive crowd will be on hand to witness the Rangers’ first competitive match in the top tier after gaining promotion following a successful 2018 season in the NPL 2 NSW Men’s competition.

The Rangers do mean business and under the watchful eye of coach Aidan Desmond, they hope that the underdog tag given to them week in week out will work to their advantage.

Led by the charismatic Carlos Saliadarre underneath the sticks, the Rangers do boost some firepower with former Rockdale City Suns player Toufic Alameddine along with ex-Sutherland Sharks striker Adrian Vranic assisting in the club’s attack. Club stalwart Matthew Clowes will hope he can steer his chargers on while look for the exciting Fijian international Alvin Singh to provide some entertainment.

Mark Crittenden’s men were dealt with some massive blows entering the 2019 season with the loss of a number of seasoned campaigners with the likes of Zach Cairncross, Connor Evans, Mitchell Mallia and the Speranza brothers jumping ship to rivals Marconi.

Not to be deterred with these losses, the club has gone through a reshuffle but will nevertheless be one tough team to crack.

New faces such as the exciting William Mutch, Leroy Jennings, James Demetriou and Jackson Bandiera will be on hand to guide the club towards a new direction while it will be a special match for Emmanuel Gonzalez – a key striker that took the NPL 2 NSW Men’s competition by storm…with the Rangers, he changed clubs in the off-season and will know his former teammates will be targeting him on Sunday.

With the likes of seasoned campaigners Matt Lewis, Joey Gibbs, Grant Lynch, Yianni Spyrakis and the exciting Devante Clut, write Blacktown City off at your peril who will also have former NSL star Matthew Bingley assisting Crittenden on the sidelines.

FOOTBALL NSW WOULD LIKE TO THANK THEIR SPONSORS FOR THEIR CONTINUED SUPPORT

U20’S TEAM LISTS

Blacktown City have brought in a few new players in 2019, including Daniel Colosimo from Spirit FC and Rhett De Silva from the Central Coast Mariners. Coach Andrew Montgomery says his side will include a number of players brought up from the 18s side, who he says have been really good in preseason and buying into the club’s philosophy well. There’s room for improvement at Lilys Homes Stadium this year, after Blacktown finished first in the 2018 regular season before crashing out of the finals series in the third week to champions Sutherland Sharks.

Blacktown will begin their season at home to the competition’s newest team, the promoted Mt Druitt Town Rangers. Mt Druitt’s Stamati Glaros says his side are relishing their ‘new kid on the block’ status, and says they’re looking to turn a few heads as they take to the NPL Men’s 20s competition. Glaros will welcome a few new faces to Mt Druitt this season, including Nikita Parkes from Marconi, and says his charges are excited for the new season after a productive preseason of gradual progression.
