UTO ViennaLine U5Siemens provides the rail
infrastructure for an
unattended train
operation of the new
metro line U5, ensuring
that the driverless X-
Coach can operate
savely between
Karlsplatz and
Frankhplatz in 2025. (anticipated date)
Metro Type X-CoachSiemens produces 34
six-car fully automatic
metro trains for the new
Line U5 in the Viennese
manufacturing plant. The
111-meter train can carry
up to 928 passengers
and is constructed with
up to 90% recyclable
materials.
Cityjet eco
The first certified
battery-powered train in
Europe that can be
used on non-electrified
routes as an alternative
for diesel vehicles.
Battery operation can
reduce CO2 emissions
by up to 50 percent
compared to diesels.
