Kia Rolls Out Kia Optima

Kia has just announced that following the completion of a series of expansion projects to increase their annual capacity, Kia has rolled out their first US-built 2012 model year Kia Optima, a midsize sedan, from their Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG) unit. After Sorento CUV, Optima is the second Kia vehicle to be produced at the West Point Facility. Sorento was the first model to be rolled out of the Kia plant in 2009.

KMMG has not only expanded physically, but it has also created several job opportunities. With their recent addition of a third shift the total number of jobs created at the plant is now more than 3,000. In addition to that, Kia estimates on-site and nearby suppliers have created another 7,500 new positions in the region to support future annual capacity of 360,000 vehicles in 2012.
