The Chicago Dental Society members andstaff and I welcome you to Chicago andlook forward to seeing our fellow dentalprofessionals at the 148th MidwinterMeeting of the Society running February21 to Feb. 23 at McCormick Place West.

“A Midwinter Night’s Dream,” the theme ofthis year’s meeting, is truly the culminationof a life long dream for myself. Drs. TomRemijas, general chair, John Kozal programchair, and Al Kleszynski, CDS Director ofScientific Programs, have done a mar-velous job of bringing to fruition the“Dream” which I have held for this meetinglong before I ever held a dental handpiece.

For 2013, we have complied 118 of thefinest speakers and our Exhibit Hall is play-ing host to more than 600 exhibitors dis-playing their latest innovations in 460,000sq. ft of space. It is a sight to behold. Andthe Society appreciates all of our ex-hibitors and their support of dentistry.

I along with the staff and members of theChicago Dental Society are very glad youare at the 148th Midwinter Meeting andhope your Midwinter Meeting experience istruly, “such stuff as dreams are made on.”

In December 1956, Elvis Presley, JohnnyCash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins col-laborated for a jam session at Sun Recordsstudio in Memphis before their careersfully ignited. Sam Phillips, deemed “Fatherof Rock ‘n’ Roll,” brought the four artiststogether for a recording session, the onlyone that they would ever do together.

The cast and crew work together to tell thestory of that legendary night with flash-backs of how Sam Phillips inspired eachmusician individually. Musical numbers in-clude “Great Balls of Fire,” “Walk the Line,”and “Hound Dog,” where each talentedcast-member plays his own instrument.

The Tony-nominated musical has played in Chicago for four years. Although theoriginal cast is on a national tour, you canstill experience the excitement at ApolloTheater, 2540 N.
