This WeekIn Chicago
34 keymagazinechicago.com
In the Midwest, we’re not necessarily known for our seafood. But Chicago restaurants serve up
plenty of delicious and fresh scallops, fish, and oysters. The fall menu at MICHAEL JORDAN’S
STEAKHOUSE (505 N. Michigan, 312.321.8823) includes Caramelized Sea Scallops, served over
beef and barley risotto and drizzled with a pinot noir sauce (right). At BUBBA GUMP SHRIMP
COMPANY on Navy Pier (700 E. Grand, 312.252.GUMP), there’s a spread on the menu dedicated
to (of course) shrimp, with dishes including Shrimp New Orleans, broiled with butter, garlic, and
spices, and Shrimp & Veggie Skewers (top left). You may not think of seafood for breakfast, but
on SUNNY SIDE UP & COFFEE SHOP’s (42 E. Superior, 312.930.4242) list of benedicts, you can
find the Nova, made with smoked salmon, topped with hollandaise sauce and fresh dill.

Chicago offers a range of ways to celebrate this holiday season. Pop open a bottle of bubbly at
POPS FOR CHAMPAGNE (601 N. State, 312.321.8823), recently rated one of the top ten wine
bars in the US by Gayot.com. The champagne lounge (right) also celebrates its 30th anniversary
this year. At Chicago sports bar JOHN BARLEYCORN’s newest location (149 W. Kinzie,
773.348.8899), enjoy a beer and watch a football game on one of the dozens of TVs across the
expansive, 14,000-square-foot space (top left). Theater-lovers, say “Bah Humbug” with Scrooge
in the GOODMAN THEATRE’s rendition of A Christmas Carol (170 N. Dearborn, 312.443.3800).
The beloved holiday classic is back at the Goodman for its 35th year (for a QR code to a video
of the play, see page 11 of our Holiday Activity Guide).
