SECL currently operates out of three sites, Dandenong, Springvale and Noble Park. South East Community Links operates in one of Melbourne’s highest multicultural areas. A core aim of our organisation is to promote cultural diversity and inclusion. This includes working to reduce narrow stereotypes and discrimination as well as working to promote and advocate for equality and opportunities for all. SECL delivers a wide range of services to meet the needs of people in our community including emergency relief, case work, housing support, youth and family services, financial counselling and resettlement services for refugees and asylum seekers. Our service model will ensure people in our community are provided integrated services, linking services to peoples’ needs. As disadvantage has many root causes, only an integrated understanding of these causes can support people to achieve their social and economic goals. Title: Strategic Engagement Mentor Coordinator

Terms of Employment: Part Time/0.4 - 0.6, 6-month contract

Hours: 15.2 - 22.5 Hours (Negotiable)

Reporting to: Andrea Shepherd, Senior Practitioner - Inclusion and Prevention

Position supervises: Volunteers

Award Classification: Employment in accordance with the SCHADS Award.

The total salary package includes 9.5% super and salary packaging (while allowed under tax law and without incurring any Fringe Benefit tax liability).

Position Purpose

South East Community Links is pleased to begin a new mentorship program that has been codesigned with key community members. The mentorship program aims to assist migrant women from culturally diverse backgrounds to achieve their individual employment and education goals. The community development team at South East Community Links are seeking a volunteer coordinator for this mentorship program. You will be a part of a diverse, inclusive and driven team. Position Context

The Volunteer coordinator will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal ongoing relationships and greatest opportunities for the mentees. This role will entail the coordination of fulfilling volunteer roles, supporting and managing volunteers and mentees, liaising with community development team members and reporting to your senior practitioner.

Responsibilities

The mentorships volunteer coordinator will:

Contribute to the process of developing a volunteer engagement strategy that is in line with best practice and South East Community Links’ policies and procedures.

Work with the senior practitioner and team members to implement a volunteer framework and recruitment strategy that attracts a diverse group of applicants from the community.

Advertise and promote the volunteering opportunities utilizing a range of media, online and community platforms.

Manage the recruitment process of volunteers including matching of mentors with mentees. Develop and maintain a volunteer database for the program. Develop and maintain a volunteer feedback system for volunteers. Partake in training and professional development opportunities. Facilitate program inductions. Any other duties that are appropriate with the position.

Key Selection Criteria

It is essential that you have experience in coordinating, developing and implementing volunteer strategies and programs. You are driven, enthusiastic and passionate to make a difference in the education and employment outcomes of migrant and refugee women. In addition, you will have:

Demonstrated experience, skills, and knowledge of working with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals.

Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of people and professionals.

Demonstrated capacity to work autonomously and as a team. Ability to think creatively when problem solving or responding to issues. Excellent organisation and time management skills. Demonstrated understanding of participant safety and risk management principles. Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite and data management systems.
