Strives to create real change from the bottom up o Fight against a system that has allowed the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer o Protests the damaging influence of corporation on politics in addition to social and economic equality Open to all political, cultural, religious affiliations/groups Organized in over 100 cities nationwide, beginning in Zuccotti Park o Spread to 500+ cities The Occupy Movement empowers real people. Eliminate corrupt monetary relations between elected officials and corporations Uses three ideas to achieve goals: Resist, Restructure, Remix o Resist through peaceful protest o Restructure by empowering individuals to lead by example - “We will be the change we are seeking in the world.” o Remix to fundamentally change the system The Occupy Movement addresses issues shared by real people.
