THE NEW ENGLAND COLONIES GOVERNMENT

The separatists who settled Massachusetts wrote the Mayflower compact-first written contract in the New Colonies.

People in New England would all come together to vote at the town hall, which was the center of their government.

This form of voting is an example of direct democracy.

The Fundamental Orders of Connecticut was the first constitution that gave people voting rights.

Based on “City on a Hill”, Puritans worked hard to gain respect from others as a group of people that thrive.

Puritans were brought down by the Salem Witch Trials. This served as a lesson to many people to forgive others and not to accuse people of being witches.
