Designer

Hello. I am a creative, interior designer

driven by my desire to create and

change the way the world looks at the

built environment. I am influenced by

nature, social issues and ramblings of

great designers and architects.

I am in the later stages of a Bachelor of Interior Design (Commercial) at Billy Blue College of Design. My scholastic endeavors have allowed me to adapt my mind to a different kind of thinking and to conceptualise and analysis an idea or problem on a higher level. I am a concept designer and creative thinker.

The skill set I am developing through study and industry experience lends itself well to the demands of not only commercial interior design, but also residential interior design.

The client’s interior and architecture is a reflection of the client themselves. Consequently, brand communication is a skill that is important in commercial and residential projects alike. I have expanded on skills in digital communication out of pure curiosity and intrigue for for graphic layouts and design.

The concept for this project was to emulate the experiences of victims of domestic violence. The design elements used to achieve this include light influence and distortion, compressed spaces, progression of shape, form and muted colour.

The space created is experiential in its nature and despite the confronting subject matter, it is ultimately a cathartic experience.

The Weekday branded environment is the final piece of the brand, a flagship retail store. The brief was to cater to the brand’s up-market customers seeking a high calibre of clothing and retail experience. The challenges in this project included balancing customer experience against the brand’s anti-establishment ethos.

The brief was to create a high end and refined space relying on locally sourced products containing low amounts of volatile organic compounds. Key design tools used include considered lighting, which brought out the best in the materiality

As an early career designer, key challenges including meeting the brief whilst satisfying the applicable codes and standards.

The end product is a deceptively casual space that references the origins of the Botero name, being a common Colombian surname meaning “boat maker”.

Fleur Lighting was made to accompany a luxe bar proposal and as such needed to fit well within a defined aesthetic. The piece takes inspiration from Michael Anastassiades Tube Chandeliers in terms of their light and shape. By creating a sculpture that is illuminated rather than solely being the light. The piece is refined and simplistic in form with a delicate and elegant sculptural feel. The use of concrete juxtaposes and challenges the nature of the materiality by making it seem weightless.

Light Two was created as a smaller piece

something that worked better as a pendant that

could be hung at eye level.

The brief for the By the Bay was to design a workspace for staff working from home or other less traditional workplaces. The core deliverables were functionality, reconfigurability and ease of assembly.

As an assessment piece this brief challenged me in end to end project management, from a simulated client consultation through to concept development, estimation and finally proposal.

This was a project that I really ran with and the end result is inspired by contemporary advances in buoyant architecture.
