Greetings Nobles and Ladies: It is difficult to believe that 1/6th of 2018 has come and gone. The old saying “time flies when you are having fun” rings true when we apply this to our efforts and activities of Kerbela. Although we endured some extremely cold days this winter sea-son, the planned projects and goals tend to warm our hearts and brighten our outlook. With spring on the horizon, as in nature itself, our goals provide opportunities to spring forward with news ideas, new projects, and new involvement. As we proceed in our endeavors, we should always be thinking of ways to increase our mem-bership which in turn will provide more new ideas, friendships, and support. Ringing in the New Year, celebrat-ing at the Installation Victory Party, and interacting at the Valentine’s Dance provided opportunities for fun and fel-lowship as well as to share our cause with others. The Memorial Service was a very moving way to honor our brothers and their contributions to our organization as well as to acknowledge our thanks to family members for their support. The response to the club visits with our Patient Ambassador has been very positive. The family has certainly felt your care and concern. Getting to know the Patient Ambassador and her family

Greetings Nobles and Ladies, I am in hopes this article finds you well and adjusting to our ever chang-ing temperatures. It is hard to believe that we are already talking about our Paper Sale for 2018. The Divan and our beautiful little Patient Ambassador Yami have started the circuit of Shrine Club visits and so far the reception has been amazing. Yami and her family have been eager to tell her story and to share what Shriners have meant to them. Nobles, this is our institutional calling and is by far the most important thing we do. Now is the time to start gearing up for Paper Sale. Talk it up in your lodges and have a game plan to make this the BEST YEAR yet! What’s next, ONION SALE. Pick up your forms in the office and sell your onions. We will be selling 10 pound bags for $10. We have elected NOT to sell 5 pound bags this year to alleviate confu-sion. Nobles, this is a great fundraiser, so please sell, sell, sell. Contact our Onion Sales Chairman, Noble Mike Byrd with any questions. Nobles, we had a banner year last year with 59 new nobles joining our great fraternity in December. The Poten-tate has decided to continue the $100.00 special for 2018, so get your candidates for Fun Fest and let’s break last years record. Thank you all for what you do every day for Shrinedom but more especially for our kids and hospitals.Respectfully,
C. Wayne Burkett, P.P.Recorder

Corvette Unit Va l e n t i n e ’s Day has come and gone and we hope everyone remem-bered to do something special for their Valentine – like attending the Kerbela Valentine dinner/dance. Winter should just about be over - Daylight savings time starts March 11, and according to the calendar, Spring arrives March 20. Our fi rst unit meeting of the year was a huge success with several new nobles attending - a good sign that they are ready to start working for the children and to start enjoying what Kerbela has to offer their families. Be sure to get behind them and support them as we go through this new year. Remember when you were the new kid on the block and help them like someone hopefully helped you. Beautiful Ms. Yami with her con-tagious smile has begun her visits to Kerbela Shrine Clubs as our 2018 Pa-tient Ambassador. Check your Kerbela Knews for her visit dates and try to be there to support her as you can. She is going to be a wonderful ambassador. The Corvettes are looking forward to the early parade season. The fi rst parade of the year will be the New Mar-ket Easter parade on March 31. Then, before we know it, Fun Fest will be here! Yes, time fl ies! Again be sure the new Nobles know about Fun Fest – a great time for us to visit with Shriner friends from other areas and to meet new ones. Another great opportunity for us to help our new nobles and their ladies to know what Fun Fest consists of and what they can expect – including a parade and lots of Kerbela hospitality for everyone. The Kerbela Motor Corp is planning a dance on April 14. Be sure to come out and enjoy the party and catch up with friends. Illustrious Sir Terry and Lady Debra Ann are working hard to see that this year is packed full of opportunities for supporting our Shrine hospitals and to have fun. Come out and support as many functions as you can.

Kerbela Go-Karts This cold winter has played havoc on our practice schedule. We can’t wait for warmer spring weather to start practicing for the 2018 season. We did brave the cold winds to gather at Harrison’s in Clinton on January 20th for our winter celebra-tion. Almost all of the unit attended including spouses. The food was great and the beer cold. The Unit congratulated outgoing Captain Randall Martin for doing a su-perb job of leading us through 2017, and a personalized desk clock was presented in token of our appreciation for a job well done.
Respectfully submitted,Howard Farrington/ 1st Lt/Scribe
Kerbela PatrolGreetings to everyone from the Kerbela Patrol, I hope this a r t i c l e f i n d s you doing well. Looking forward to Spring. That means Fun Fest is not far off. Hope you got to spend some quality time with your sweetheart this Valen-tine's Day. Hope everyone has a Happy Easter full of blessings. Have a wonderful day and a great time with your family. If you would like to join an active group give us a try. Our meetings are on the fi rst Tuesday of the month at the Temple at 7pm. If anyone needs help repairing your jeep I'll be happy to help. Give me a call (865) 256-4831. Happy Birthday and/or Happy An-niversary to all Nobles and Ladies that have one in the months of March and April

Thank YouI want to thank everyone for the prayers and kind words throughout my father’s illness. He fought hard but the last six months were too much for him. I appreciate all the kindness and support through that time when I was traveling to Alabama. Thank you for the flowers. They are absolutely beautiful and are sitting on my mother’s dinning table. Also, I want to thank those of you who took time out of your busy days to send me text messages and reach out to me during this difficult time. The continuing prayers are a comfort to me and my family.
With great appreciation,Cheryl Hutson

What is telemarketing? As most of you know, telemarketing is us ing the tele phone to market some prod- ucts, ser vice and survey. We all have received tele phone calls asking us to participate in some sort of survey, such as political polls or use of a certain prod uct, etc. Kerbela Shrine Circus is again using this method of marketing to help increase our circus projects. You or one of your friends may re ceive a call some evening asking for a pledge for tickets on coupons to be re deemed for tickets to the Kerbela Shrine Circus. Be assured this has been ap proved by the Divan of Kerbela Temple as just another way of promot-ing our Kerbela Shrine Circus. The company we have employed to help us with this project is very professional and ethical in the manner in which they conduct the business of promoting the circus. They have been conducting telemarketing for several other Shrine Temples in the South east for many
years and have been very successful. We are very optimistic that they will increase our ticket sales. You may ask why we need these telemarketing people. The very simple fact is it is very diffi cult to ask our mem bers to volunteer to work fi ve days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Telemar-keting, by its nature, is a very diffi cult task. You must be prepared for many rejections and yet come back and make another call. To be successful they must make hundreds of telephone calls to reach our goal. We are asking you to please un der- stand why we are using telemarketing for our Kerbela Shrine Circus. The only reason is to help us be successful in this project and you can believe we need ALL the help we can get! As in the past, circus tickets will be mailed to all members in July from the Temple Offi ce. So if you’re contacted to purchase a coupon from this project, just tell the caller that you are a Shriner
Nobles! Please Read
Circus Telemarketing
and you purchase your tickets from the Temple Offi ce. Unless, however, you wish to purchase from both the Temple offi ce and the telemarketing service. The real plus we will all receive from our Circus is providing many more de serv ing children and adults with tickets to see our Kerbela Shrine Circus. After all, aren’t we all in the business of pro vid ing children and other deserving peo ple with a little ray of sunshine and happiness as we proceed down life’s road? I think so, don’t you?

Kerbela CabiriGreetings! Your Past Potentates are busy sup-porting the Potentate and Divan, but we still have time for any Noble needing our advice. Let me tell you of a great fund raiser: The Temple is selling bricks, engraved with your name, name of your unit, or even a deceased brother. Each brick is $125.00 and half of that is returned to the donor. A place has been set aside by the front porch to exhibit the bricks. We extend our prayers and thoughts to Lady Lisa and Don. We also thank Ill Sir Terry and the Divan for asking the Past Potentates to serve them this year. Pray for our troops.

Hillbilly Clan 24 Our Hillbilly meeting in January was well attended. The meeting was called to order by Chief Raban Ron. The Christmas Party at Harrison's was a great success, Chinese Auction was a hoot. For 2018 we hope to have our Christmas Party in lower Knoxville area or South suburbs. We also went over our plans for Fun Fest. A very large group of Shriners are planning to attend. Clan 24 will put on the Hillbilly Degree. We plan on having a practice before our February 22 meet-ing. We will meet at 5:30pm and we need your help. Ladies will also practice at this time. Imperial will be Charleston, SC, October 4-6, 2018. We want to have a good group to attend from Clan 24. Much more information can be gotten by visiting website: "Shrine Hillbilly's". Hillbilly Days, Pikeville, KY, will be April 19-21. There was little interest this year. If you are interested go on website for more information Don't forget Campbell County Spa-ghetti Dinner, Auction, and Cake Sale will be March 9 at Campbell County High School, Main Street, LaFollette, TN. Tickets available at the door. Tom McKamey is home, please keep him, Lowell Bible and Chris Madison in your thoughts and prayers. In closing it was announced that Ron Sheldon and Charlie McDaniel were accepted on the next Honor-Air flight, April 22, 2018. We are so thankful. Remember our troops and freedom is not free.

Physical and occupational therapists at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Greenville provide a comprehensive rehabilitation program for each child. Therapy is provided to patients with a wide variety of conditions with the primary therapeutic goal to increase each child’s level of functioning and promote independence.
Attendees will be divided into groups for tours of the Prosthetics and Orthotics department, Motion Analysis Center, Physical and
Motion Analysis CenterThe clinical mission of the Motion Analysis Center (MAC) is to carefully observe and measure the way patients move, to understand how and why they move di erently from children without movement problems, to recommend treatments, and to evaluate how well those treatments improve their function. As a diagnostic tool, the MAC allows our surgeons to determine a patient’s best treatment options.
Prosthetics and OrthoticsIn the Prosthetics and Orthotics department children are given the tools they need to walk, run, sit up straight, hold on to objects, and so much more. The best part … all of the prosthetics and orthotics are made right inside the hospital by our American Board certified prosthetists and orthotists. You’ll want to watch these professionals in action!
Operating RoomsEach month, more than 100 kids go through our hospital’s OR doors, knowing when they come out their life will be changed for the better. The pediatric orthopaedic procedures help correct problems including spine, hip, and foot deformities, webbed fingers and toes, and limb deficiencies. During your visit, learn how operations are performed with demonstrations by our own pediatric orthopaedic surgeons.
