The festival of lights - Diwali just got over in Oct 2016. Diwali spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. In today's world, we need to keep in mind the importance of spreading this message and try to remove the darkness in our inner self.

We are very happy to inform you that from the quarter ending Sep 16, we will be publishing our Quarterly magazine of NIPM (KC) as a soft copy instead of hard copy. When the magazine is completed each quarter the soft copy will be put in the web site of NIPM Kerala chapter: web address: www.nipmkerala.org. You are requested to visit this site and read the soft copy of quarterly magazine.

We are implementing this as a green initiative. We seek continued support and cooperation from our Seniors and Members of the Chapter. The Annual issue will be published as hard copy and will be released at the time of our AGM once in a year.

Dear Colleagues,

I am very privileged and proud to communicate with seniors and my colleagues after having assumed the office of the Chairman of NIPM Kerala Chapter. We have a very historic tradition and the chapter has reached the present prestigious position because of the tireless efforts and contributions from our predecessors. As you are aware, NIPM Kerala chapter has over the years gained reputation as one of the best performing chapters in India and we have bagged the Best Chapter award repeatedly. It is definitely because of Team work and consistent endeavors of our previous Executive Committees, respective Chairmen and Secretaries, who had contributed their best for the Chapter.

The present Office Bearers are aware of the responsibilities vested on them and on their behalf, I assure you that we will keep up the legacy of the Chapter and continue to perform. The Executive committee Team seeks the blessings and continued support of all Members for taking NIPC Kerala Chapter further ahead.

The numbers of young HR professionals amidst us have been growing in leaps and bounds. We have to make a sustained effort to rope in these young minds to our fold as they are going to be the future leaders of our profession.

NIPM Kerala Chapter has initiated various programs with the intention of making the chapter lively, recent one being the 2 one day programs organized at Info Park and Hotel Presidency. We have many programs in the pipeline, one of them being the HRCON 2017, which will be organized in June 2017. Details will be intimated to you.

We are happy and proud to announce that from the quarter ending Sep 2016, our quarterly Magazine will GO GREEN. We will be publishing the magazine as a soft copy in our website. All of us can visit the website and read the magazine. We will be informing you via e-mail, information of posting e-magazine in our website.

India has challenging times ahead and all of us as HR Professionals can contribute a lot for taking this Country ahead beating unfavorable conditions that mayarise. The role HR fraternity has in the Corporate world is very significant and important. HR Heads has to closely support and be part of strategic decisions, taking the management and the Employees into confidence. Let us all be part of building a strong nation marching towards economic dominance.

18-06-2016 - NIPM Kerala Chapter's Annual Flagship Program, “Legal Update 2016” was organized on 18th June 2016 covering latest labour law amendments, court decisions etc. The resource persons were Mr. K.V. Mohandas, Mr. Sasiprakash and Mr.P.J. Joy for the morning sessions and Mr. Haridas Menon, Dy. Director, ESIC, Ernakulam, Mr. P.V. Joseph, Asst. PF Commissioner, Ernakulam and Mr. S. Pramod, Director, Factories and Boilers for the afternoon Session.

The program was inaugurated by Mr. T.P. Ramakrishnan, Minister for Labour & Excise, Government of Kerala in the morning. Mr. M. Thomas Kadavan, the then Chairman welcomed the chief guest and participants and Mr. K. Suresh, the then Hon. Secretary proposed vote of thanks. There were total 150 delegates from various industrial sector all over Kerala attended the one day session.

Legal Update 2016

The Annual General Body Meeting 2016 of NIPM Kerala Chapter was held on 18th June 2016 at 6.30 pm at IMA House, Kaloor, Kochi. Minutes of The AGM 2016, Annual Report 20126 and Audited Balance Sheet for 2015-2016 were presented and adopted unanimously by the AGM. M/s.Joseph & Co, Kochi was appointed by AGM 2016 as Auditors for the year 2016-2016.

The Annual Day Celebrations/Annual Award Nite was held immediately after the AGM 2016. The Chief Guest of the Function was Prof. K.V. Thomas, Member of Parliament, Ernakulam which was presided over by the then Chairman Mr. M. Thomas Kadavan. During the function various awards were presented to the winners of the competitions organized by Kerala Chapter during 2015-2016 including Young Manager's Contest 2016, Zacharial Memorial award for Ist Rank in MHRM conducted by M.G. University, KRC Nayar Memorial award for IInd Rank in MHRM conducted by M.G. University, M. Sulaiman Memorial awards etc.

NIPM Kerala Best Corporate Citizen Award 2016

NIPM Kerala Chapter has organized a competition for the Best Corporate Citizen Award 2016 for the CSR Activities conducted by various Corporate sectors registered in Kerala. The participating organizations were asked to submit a case study and present the same before the jury panel members and invited audience. There were three categories i.e. Category I for CSR activities upto 50 lakhs in the year, Category II for organizations spent for CSR activities from 51 lakh to 99 lakhs and Category II for organizations spent for CSR Activities above 100 lakhs. On the bases of the case studies and presentation, the following were adjudged as winners:

The amount of Rs.50,000/- collected by NIPM from the participating organizations towards entry fee plus NIPM Share were gifted to Chavara Inspire Charitable Society for the medicins and treatment for HIV affected Children which was received by the eminent writer/social worker and mentor of the above organization Prof. M. K. Sanu.

FelicitationMr. Madhu S Nair, Chairman & Managing Director, Cochin Shipyard Ltd. was facilitation as Youngest CEO in Central Public Sector Undertaking in Kerala and Mr. Junaid Rehman was facilitated for Outstanding Social Security Services. Mr. .J. Thankachan & Mrs. Thankachan were facilitated for innovative organic farming in Kerala.

Outstanding HR Manager of the year 2015-2016Ms. Jaya Jacob Alexander, Life Member and Head-HR, Geojit BNP Paribas Financial Services Ltd. was awarded as “Outstanding HR Manager of the year 2015-2016 and the award consisting of Certificate of Merit, Memento & Cash prize were presented to her by the Chief Guest Prof. K.V. Thomas.

Announcement of Biennial Election Results for the term 2016-2018

Based on the terms of Biennial Election process NIPM Kerala Chapter completed all the proceedings and finalized the results as per schedule announced earlier. Dr. N. Vijayan Pillai, Fellow, NIPM officially announced the election results and the new office bearers were installed during the AGM/Annual Day Celebrations 2016. .

Evening Lecture

Immediately after the Release of Activity Calendar for 2016-2018 Mr. Praveen Goyal, Director (Systems), KMRL delivered the key note address on the topic “Kochi Metro – Rails of Change”. 70 participants from various organizations attended the above function.

A Half Day Workshop (from 2.00 pm to 5.30 pm) was organized at NIPM House, Kochi on “Legal Changes that may impact Business” covering recent changes in Labour Laws like The Shops & Establishment Act, EPF & MP, ESI Act etc. The resource person was Advocate Anil Narayanan, MSW, LLB, Former asst. P.F. Commissioner, Advocate and Partner, Anil Associates, Trivandrum. Total No. of 49 participants from various industrial sectors attended the said workshop

19-07-2016 – Marthoma College of Management, Perumbavoor has organized a function for MBA Students in which Mr. Anish Aravind, Principal Consultant, SS Consulting & Hon. Awarding of Certicates on HR Skills Course

NIPM Kerala Chapter conducted 10 Days Short Term Certificate Course for HR Professionals working in various organizations. The Course completion Certificates to the participants were awarded by Sri Praveen Goyal, Director (Systems), KMRL on 26th July 2016 during the above function.

During the Half Day Workshop on 26th July 2016, the Brochure for the 2nd Batch of 10 Days Short Term Certificate Course on Labour Laws commencing from Ist October 2016 on all Saturdays was released by Mr. K.K. Vijayakumar, Chairman, NIPM Kerala Chapter.

NIPM Kerala Chapter in association with Synthite Industries Limited and SCMS Cochin organized Chapter Level Business Quiz 2016 at SCMS Premises for Synthite Rolling Trophy. The Quiz Master was Mr. A.S. Arun, from Trissur. Total 63 Teams from various B-Schools were participated in the competition. From the elimination round 6 teams were short listed for the final round. The following are the winners of Chapter Level Quiz:

First Prize Team from Rajagiri Centre for Business Studies (RCBS), Kochi consisting of Mr. Revanth S and Mr. Vijit Babu.

1st Runner-up Team from Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship (XIME) Kochi consisting of Saurav Sharma and Mr. Kamal Vignesh.

2nd Runner-up Team from Rajagiri Centre for Business Studies (RCBS), Kochi consisting of Mr. Anoop KrishnanK.U. and Mr. Arjun S Naik.

The Cash Prizes and Synthite Rolling trophy were presented by Mr. Ninan Philip, Director (HR), Synthite Group of Companies and Managing Director, Herbal Isolates Ltd during the valedictory function immediately after the competitions. Dr. V. Raman Nair, Director, SCMS Cochin was also spoke on the occasion. Mr. Anish Aravind, Hon. Secretary, welcomed the guests and participants, Mr. K.K.
