DESCRIPTION

This presentation is what Kenya Aid Programme use for schools in England, KAP want to bridge the gap of difference by bringing a taste of Kenya to English students and teachers alike. KAP are pushing to establish and international school partnership scheme with Fort Smith Educational Centre in Nairobi, whom we have very close ties with. Naturally, because the audience for this presentatin are young, it is full of lots of pictures and short explinations. The presentation has geographical, historical, political and cultural references.

A little bit of history.....Scientists found our earliest ancestor’s bones in Lake Turkana Basin, North Kenya.

During the 1600’s – 1700’s many Kenyans were taken away as slaves.

The British colonised Kenya from 1930 – 1963.

Kenya Today Still not recovered.....•IDP = Internally displaced people •650,000 Kenyans were moved from their homes and taken into camps.•The majority of IDP’s may never return home.

•Kenya has a population of 39 million•Kenya is the 4th worst country for the HIV/AIDS epidemic•Earlier this year flash flooding hit Kenya. Turning a further 10,000 people into IDP’s. This has prompted water related diseases. Hundreds of livestock drowned and houses crumbled.
