How did we get the name “Kentucky”?

The Iroquois Indians called the land “Kentake” which means “Great Meadows”.

The Kentucky Derby is run at Churchill Downsin Louisville each May. The Derby is also calleda “Run for the Roses” and has been called the most exciting two minutes in sports!
