KACCS was pleased to have the opportunity to recognize several final-ists and our annual award winners at the 2018 Annual Meeting and Educational Confer-ence August 24th. Award winners this year included: 2018 Legisla-tor of the Year recipi-ent, Representative Daniel Elliott, Instructor of the Year winner Jill Ferrari, and Ambassa-dor of the Year, Dr. Ter-ry Kibiloski. Representative Daniel Elliott of Danville, is vice chairman of the House Economic Devel-opment and Workforce Investment Committee.

matters of importance to our members. To effectively represent our sector, we need to hear the voices of our schools, but we also need to be able to demonstrate the im-pact legislative and regulatory matters have on our schools and the students we serve. If we only rep-resent a small portion of the sector, we are not doing this as effectively as we de-sire, therefore grow-ing as an organization this year will help us better fulfill our mis-

sion. Be sure to review the opportunities in this fall edition newsletter for you and your team

The 2018 KACCS An-nual Meeting and Ed-ucational Conference has reenergized our association and we are looking forward to a strong ending to 2018 as we plan for activity in 2019. If you haven’t been as engaged in the asso-

ciation recently, now is the time to get in-volved. Members attending our annual business meeting this year brought great ideas to our committees and we expect to see numerous exciting initiatives headed your way in 2019 as a result of this feed-

back. Our upcoming networking event in December will further develop some of these ideas and include a strategic planning component for each committee at in-person meetings at the event. If you are currently part of a committee or interest-ed in joining, plan to attend in December and help us get our 2019 plans off to a strong start. Another goal of our organization as 2018 draws to an end is as-sociation growth. Our

goal is to continue growing our member-ship so we can effec-tively speak as the voice of our sector on

keep in mind that the political climate is extremely vola-tile and the situa-tion at the federal level has an influ-ence on local races. No one predicted the size of the Re-publican wave that

to get more involved. We encourage each campus to have multi-ple team members en-gaged in activities through the association to ensure your school’s voice is represented in our activity and the im-portant decisions that impact our schools and the students we serve. Whether it’s contrib-uting an article for our next newsletter, host-ing legislators for visits on your campus, or joining a KACCS com-mittee, we look for-ward to hearing more from you in the coming

months as we gear up for an exciting 2019.

Final Month of the Fall Campaign Vote! With just about a month to go, the fall election sea-

son is heating up. Across the country, there are many tight congressional races, including Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District. All mem-bers of the Kentucky House and half of the Senate are up for

swept through Frankfort two years ago. KACCS has a couple of is-sues we will be working on in 2019 and the election will

have a huge impact on our work early next year. All members are strongly en-couraged to vote and make sure your voice is heard. For additional information on these matters or to get more involved, contact Greg Brotzge at [email protected]

New KACCS Board Members This year at the KACCS Annual Busi-ness Meeting, we add-ed two new members to the KACCS Board of Directors. Brittany Cottoner of Caris Col-lege and Joel Musgrove of Universi-

ty of Fairfax and American National University were voted into office and joined our organization’s

leadership as Board Members. During the meeting, Chris Ernst of Sulli-van University was also elected as Presi-dent Elect and will serve as KACCS Presi-dent beginning in Au-gust of 2019. Now former Board

Member, David Keene of Sullivan Universi-ty, was recognized

during the Annual Conference as his Board term expired. Mr. Keene served on our Board of Directors the maximum length allowed by our Bylaws and was a tremendous asset to our organiza-tion in this capacity. We look forward to continuing to work with him in the years to come through

classroom hours while still ensuring students are prepared for certi-fication exams in their field of study. The pass rates for students in this program were 100% last year. Ms. Ferrari also volun-teers as a board mem-ber for the Kentucky Society of Medical As-sistants and is the lead for the Educator Fo-rum with a local coun-ty high school council. Dr. Terry Kibiloski of Sullivan University’s Louisville Campus was the recipient of the 2018 KACCS Ambassa-dor of the Year Award. Dr. Kibiloski has been

an instructor for over 27 years and his co-workers shared that

he has a gift for lev-eraging his history and experience with Sullivan across different programs and departments and sets an example about the importance of sharing resources and knowledge across functional areas to help promote work-ing towards a com-mon goal. Outside of the class-room, Dr. Kibiloski has been involved in activities such as the Kentucky Future Business Leaders of America state confer-ence, he has served as the faculty advisor

for the Idea State University Business Venture competition,

leading students to first place within two years, and he is an ac-tive member of the Kentucky Colonels. He also often remains in contact with for-mer students and mentors them as they start out in their ca-reers.
