SUMMER DAY CAMPS Ages 6 to 12. We will be offering Summer Day Camps at W.B. Simpson Elementary School, Camden and F. Neil Postlethwait Middle School, Rising Sun. Camps run from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Activities include arts & crafts, table games, sports, nature activities, and special visitors. Children must bring lunch, drinks and snacks each day. The cost is $66 per week/per child except for the holiday week of June 29 – July 2 (4 days), which is $53. TOT PROGRAMS

TOT FUN FOR 2’s AND 3’s – Brecknock County Park, Howell Mill Nature Center, Camden. Class runs 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. for 5 weeks. Activities such as painting, coloring, singing songs, playing instruments storytelling and playing games will be included. Program provides a situation that allows children to interact with their peers. Parents are also encouraged to participate. Younger and older siblings may not stay. Fee is $41. Minimum of 6, maximum of 15. Instructor: Jordan Mollohan.

TRMAKR706 - RHYTHM MAKERS – Ages 3 to 5. Brecknock County Park, Howell Mill Nature Center, Camden. Mondays and Thursdays, 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. beginning July 6 for 3 weeks. Children will have a great time singing, marching, playing musical instruments, and participating in rhythm activities. Parents must stay during the class, however, younger or older siblings may not stay. Fee is $41. Minimum of 8, maximum of 18. Instructor: Jackie Laguardia-McCabe.

PEE WEE GOLF CLINICS – Ages 4 to 7. Wild Quail Country Club, Clubhouse Drive, Wyoming. Sunday, 12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m. This is a unique opportunity for youngsters to learn basic golf instruction. Clinic will include etiquette, chipping, putting, and full swing. We will focus on fundamentals, safety and having fun. Fee is $26 per clinic (includes use of clubs, if needed; please indicate on registration form). Minimum of 4, maximum of 12. Instructor: Rick McCall, Golf Pro.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURES• Registration will be accepted through the mail, in person, by

fax or online on a first-come, first-served basis. NO PHONE IN REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Cost of activity must be paid in full when registering except when stated differently. Please follow registration procedures listed below.

Online Registration Online registration can be accessed through www.kentcountyrec.com. MasterCard, Visa and Discover Card payments are processed through Element; however, refunds must be processed through Kent County Parks and Recreation; allow up to 2 weeks for processing. All other refund policies apply.

Mail or Walk-in Registration Payments may be made with cash, check, money order, Visa, MasterCard or Discover Card. Make checks payable to Kent County Parks & Recreation and mail or hand deliver to: 555 Bay Road, Dover, DE 19901. For your protection, please do not mail cash. • It is recommended that registration be received ONE WEEK BEFORE

THE FIRST SCHEDULED CLASS OR BUS TRIP unless otherwise noted.

• Requested receipts can be sent by email, office pickup or mailed(participant must provide us with a self-addressed stamped envelope). Participants can make the request on registration form.

• Activity fees may be combined in one payment. Make sure form and payment are complete and correct. Please include current contact information so we can reach you if there are program changes.

• Completed form must accompany payment. Registration waiver must be signed.

• Registration or entry may be denied into a program when it is deemed necessary to assure public safety.

GENERAL INFORMATION

* Classes, activities and trips are subject to cancellation for any reasonable cause.

* Returned check fee - All returned checks will have a $30 service charge.

* Classes held at public schools will not meet when schools are closed for holidays, inclement weather or other emergencies. For cancellation information, please look at our website (www.kentcountyrec.com) and facebook.com/KentCountyParksandRec.

* Please make sure that the instructor is present before dropping your child off at a program.

* Arrive to pick up your child at least five minutes before the program’s scheduled closing. Failure to pick up your child on time may result in expulsion from the program.

* A child may be expelled from a program with no refund after notifying parent of disciplinary problems.

REFUND POLICYRegistration fees for recreation programs/activities must be paid in advance and shall be refunded in full to the payer of record if the County cancels the program/activity. If a participant cancels his/her participation in a program at least five (5) days prior to the first scheduled day, a full refund shall be paid less a $5 processing fee pursuant to County ordinance. Refunds will not be given for any other reason.

* The Department may photograph programs and participants for publicity purposes.

* The Department has the right to adjust any of the program details in this brochure including fees, locations, instructors, times, days and starting dates.

* It is the policy of the Kent County Levy Court that all programs be accessible to all Qualified Handicapped Individuals as provided in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. If you or the person(s) you are registering need reasonable accommodation for your program of interest, please contact the Parks and Recreation Office before registering to discuss the matter with the activity supervisor(s).

PARENT/TOT GYMNASTICS – Ages 18 months to 36 months. Stick It! Gymnastics, 550 Otis Drive, Tudor Industrial Park, Dover. Saturdays, 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. for 4 weeks. This is a great introduction to gymnastics. Parents will work with their child in developing gross motor skills and gymnastics skills with lots of parental hands-on assistance. The initial focus is on having fun with exercise and developing confidence. Fee is $56. Minimum of 4, maximum of 10.

LITTLE LION’S TAEKWONDO – Ages 3 to 6. Yoon’s Martial Arts (www.yoonsma.com), 1111 South DuPont Hwy., Dover (across from L&D Suzuki). Saturdays, 10:00 – 10:35 a.m. for 6 weeks. This program instills values of confidence, self-discipline, and concentration to build a strong body and a winning spirit. Participants receive basic Taekwondo instructions on blocks, kicks, and punches. Focus, respect, coordination, and balance are also practiced. Fee is $41. Minimum of 10, maximum of 30. Classes are taught by a certified Yoon’s instructor or master.

Children will be introduced to the art of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu through fun games that focus on functional movement and basic self-defense concepts. Fee is $46. Minimum of 5, maximum of 10. Participants will receive instruction on blocks and strikes, as well as basic self-defense and awareness skills. School philosophy believes in building self-control, confidence, and focus. Fee is $41. Minimum of 5, maximum of 20. Instruction by internationally certified instructor and referee, 6th degree black belt, Jim Hewes and staff.

CHILD AND PARENT BEGINNER SWIMMING – Ages 2 to 5. Delaware State University’s Wellness & Recreation Center pool, 1200 N. DuPont Hwy., Dover. Tuesdays or Thursdays, 5:15 – 5:45 p.m. for 5 weeks. A fun-filled introduction to the aquatic environment. Participants will be comfortable in the water learning the basics of freestyle and floating on their front and back. Water skills will be taught through the use of games, songs, and flotation devices. (Parent must go in the water with child.) Fee is $71. Bring a towel. Minimum of 3, maximum of 10. Instructors: DSU staff.

The purpose of these classes are to orient preschool-age children to the aquatic environment and to help acquire rudimentary levels of basic aquatic skills. Use of floatation aids is encouraged. Participants will be taught freestyle and backstroke, survival float, pushing off the side of the pool, and jumping into shallow water. Basic water safety and pool rules will be covered. Fee is $71. TBRITMB706 - MINI BRITISH SOCCER CAMP– Ages 4 to 6. Brecknock County Park, Camden. Camp runs July 6 – July 10, 10:15 – 11:45 a.m. Players are introduced to game basics through fundamental activities, fun games, competitions and skill building activities designed to enlighten and develop budding players. The $113 fee includes a soccer ball, T-shirt, and a poster. (Please indicate shirt size on registration form.) Minimum of 10, maximum of 20. If anyone is interested in enjoying a unique cultural experience by hosting a British Soccer Coach during the week of camp, please contact the Recreation Office at 744-2495.

TBRITFK706 - FIRST KICKS BRITISH SOCCER CAMP – Ages 3 to 4. Brecknock County Park, Camden. Camp runs July 6 – July 10, 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Players are introduced to game basics through fundamental activities, games and soccer challenges. Parents are encouraged to join in and help guide their child through this fun learning experience. This camp is run by the Challenger Sports British Soccer staff. The $88 fee includes a soccer ball, T-shirt, and a poster. (Please indicate shirt size on registration form.) Minimum of 10, maximum of 20. If anyone is interested in enjoying a unique cultural experience by hosting a British Soccer Coach during the week of camp, please contact the Recreation Office at 744-2495.

This class is focused on moving around obstacles with speed and efficiency. We use the equipment in the gym for participants to learn how to move through their environment by vaulting, rolling, running, climbing and jumping. Fee is $66. Minimum of 4, maximum of 10. Observation deck is available to parents.

These classes will cover proper falling techniques/rolls. Participants will learn basic throws for self-defense and basic hold downs. Judo is an International Martial Art and sport. Fee is $41. Minimum of 3, maximum of 20. Instructor: Tony Skinner, 7th degree black belt Master Instructor and Global Taekwon-Do staff.

YBOT627 - LET’S DO ROBOTICS – Ages 6 to 10. Calvary Assembly of God Church, Room 203, Rt. 10, Dover. Saturdays, 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m. beginning June 27 for 6 weeks. (No class 7/4.) With the LEGO® WeDo Robotics System, participants can build and program their own robotic creations. Designed by the experts at MIT, this unique system teaches children about simple machines, engineering, programming, and more. Build a project with LEGOS®, connect it to the computer, program it and your creation moves. Fee is $76. Minimum of 5, maximum of 12. Instructor: Pam Lloyd from Computer Explorers.

*NEW! YRCBOT627 - ROBOTS AND CODING – Ages 6 to 10. Calvary Assembly of God Church, Room 203, Rt. 10, Dover. Saturdays, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. beginning June 27 for 6 weeks. (No class 7/4.) We will be using a combination of coding with Scratch, Sphero and Dash & Dot. Scratch is an innovative programming language created just for kids by the MIT Media Lab. Sphero is an app controlled ball that can do amazing things. Dash and Dot are robots which use coding on the ipad to make them move, interact with each other and much more. Fee is $76. Minimum of 5, maximum of 12. Instructor: Pam Lloyd from Computer Explorers.

Welcome to the world of the 18th century cottage industry craft of handmade lace. Bobbin Lace will be made using pins on a lacemaking pillow with each thread on an individual bobbin. This class is geared towards building that relationship between you and your new puppy. Class will provide an opportunity for your puppy to socialize with other dogs. KENT COUNTY’S17TH ANNUAL SAFE SUMMER DAY - IT’S ALL FREE

SATURDAY, JUNE 13 - 10:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M.Kent County’s Brecknock Park

Camden, DelawarePlease join the many safety and health professionals on June 13 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at Brecknock County Park for our 17th annual SAFE SUMMER DAY event. This event is designed to help ensure that one and all have a great healthy and safe start for the summer season. Our event slogan for this year’s Safe Summer Day is: “HEALTHY LIVING AND SAFETY IS A MISSION, NOT AN INTERMISSION”.

Activities include: car seat inspection, Patriotic Presentation, car cutting demo, rescue demo, K-9 demo & DE State Police Helicopter (if available), dunk booth, large inflatable’s, Fire Fighting demos, smoke house (if available), No Zone Truck, DJ, and many more – PLUS IT IS ALL FREE.

IT IS NOT TOO LATEAll safety/wellness professionals and agencies are still welcome to join this year’s event. Tent space, tables and electric hookups (provided free upon request) will be available for you to display, demonstrate, or distribute any (free) safety-related

information; displayers will need to bring their own chairs. Any assistance your agency might be able to provide in the way of volunteers, prizes, literature or donations would be helpful.
