Junior QB Chandler Burks became the first QB in Big South history to rush for

1,000 yards and pass for 1,000 yards in a single season. The Owls have rushed for a Big South single-season record 4,271

yards, becoming the first team in league history to top 4,000 yards on the ground.

The Owls’ 12 wins (12-1) have tied the Big South Conference single-season victory record and now look to become the

GETTING TO KNOW THE OWLS• Third-year program ranked No. 16/18 captured first Big South Conference football

Kennesaw State team has advanced in NCAA postseason play since moving to the Division I level prior to the 2005-06 season. The KSU baseball team reached the 2014 Super Regionals, while the men’s golf team has advanced to the NCAA Championships on three occasions (2011, 2014, 2017).

• The Owls are the third different Big South member to reach the quarters, joining Coastal Carolina (twice) and Charleston Southern.

• The Big South is looking to advance to the FCS semifinals for the first time, as the league is 0-3 in the quarterfinal round. Kennesaw State would be the first team from the Big South to reach the semis with a win at Sam Houston State.

• Have joined Old Dominion as the only two FCS programs (since 2008) to secure winning seasons in each of the programs’ first three years in existence. KSU’s 26 wins (26-9, .743) over its first three seasons are second most by a start-up Division-I team since 2008 – Old Dominion was 27-8 (.771).

• The Owls have intercepted at least one pass in all 13 games this season• In its win over Jacksonville State, KSU held the ball for nearly 22 minutes, rushing for 142

yards and outscoring the Gamecocks, 14-0 in the second half. Coming into the game, JSU had allowed an average of only 63.1 yards per game on the ground and the Owls rushed for 213 yards.

• The 339 total yards of offense by KSU was the most Jacksonville State had allowed all season, while the Owls’ defense held JSU to a season-low 187 yards.

• The Owls have entered the regular-season’s final game with an opportunity to claim a share or the outright Big South Conference championship in consecutive seasons.

• KSU was the co-favorite with defending Big South Conference Champion Charleston Southern to win the conference. Defeated the Buccaneers, 38-0, marking the largest margin of victory over a Big South Conference opponent in program history.

• Went on the road and posted 16-14 victory at Montana State on Nov. 4 in the coldest game in KSU history. Drove 78 yards on 20 plays, taking 10:07 off the clock and kicking the game-winning field goal with 1:55 remaining.

• Lone loss came at current No. 14/16 Samford (28-23) is season opener that included a three-hour weather delay. Samford finished season 8-4 and was third in the Southern Conference. First-round FCS Playoffs match-up was a rematch of that season opener. The Owls have defeated every team on their schedule this season.

• Concluded a 6-0 home regular-season record at Fifth Third Bank Stadium, marking the program’s first undefeated regular-season mark. Owls are 7-0 at home following first-round victory over Samford.

• Junior quarterback Chandler Burks became the first Big South Conference quarterback to rush for 1,000 yards and pass for a 1,000 yards in the same season.

FIFTH THIRD BANK STADIUM Fifth Third Bank Stadium is located at 3200 George Busbee Pkwy NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. The media entrance is located on the west side of the stadium near Gate B and the box office. The media entrance will open three hours prior to kickoff.

PRESS BOX SERVICES The press box at Fifth Third Bank Stadium has limited seating and is available to media on a priority basis. High speed internet is available to transmit stories.

POSTGAME INTERVIEWS The Kennesaw State locker room is located below the East stands near the North end zone. The interview room is located under the stage at the northwest end zone. The visitor’s locker room is located below the East stands near the South end zone. KSU head coach Brian Bohannon and requested players will be available in the post-game interview approximately 10 min-utes after the team enters the locker room. Kennesaw State’s locker room is closed. The SID of the visiting school will establish admittance policies to the visiting locker room.

OWLS ON THE ROAD THIS SEASON• Kennesaw State played in its first road game in four

weeks last Saturday at No. 3 Jacksonville State, defeating the Gamecocks 17-7 to move onto the quarterfinals. The victory gave the Owls a program-best 5-1 mark on the road.

• The Owls wrapped up their regular-season road schedule with a 16-14 victory over Montana State, establishing a then program-best 4-1 mark away from Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

• Kennesaw State is averaging 24.3 points per game on the road and 417.8 total yards of offense, outscoring its opponents 146-91 in six games.

• The Owls own 317.5 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns, compared to allowing 100.5 yards on the ground and just four scores in six games.

• After falling to then 19th-ranked Samford to open the season, Kennesaw State has gone on to win a program-best five straight road games, averaging 24.6 points, 322.4 rushing yards and 392.4 total yards of offense.

• The defense has held opponents to 12.6 points per game and 248.4 yards over the last five road games.

• Kennesaw State outscored opponents 123-63 during the last five road games. • In six road games this season, Kennesaw State owns a 1,905-603 (+1,302 margin)

difference in rushing yards, totaling 15 touchdowns while allowing just four over that span.

STREAKING TO 12 STRAIGHT• The red-hot Owls continued their winning ways last Saturday at No. 3 Jacksonville State

in the second round of the FCS Playoffs, defeating the Gamecocks 17-7 to advance to the quarterfinals.

• The victory gave KSU its program-record 12th-straight win. • Kennesaw State defeated Monmouth in the Big South Championship game, 52-21, to

secure an automatic berth to the FCS Playoffs two weeks ago – the first conference title in program history.

• The Owls have beaten ranked opponents in three consecutive weeks, defeating No. 22 Monmouth in the championship game, No. 14 Samford in the opening round of the FCS Playoffs and then third-seeded Jacksonville State in the second round.

• The 12-1 overall record and 5-0 mark in Big South play are program-bests in just its third year, surpassing its 8-3 mark set in 2016.

• During its streak, KSU has outscored opponents 371-155, including a dominant 176-47 advantage in the second quarter and 245-78 in the first half.

• The Owls have out-rushed opponents 3,978-1,193 (+2,785) and have run a total of 829 plays – averaging 63 plays per game during the streak.

• KSU has converted 89-of-177 (50%) of its third-down attempts for the season and an impressive 19-of-25 (76%) on fourth-down conversions.

• Kennesaw State ranks second in the nation in third-down conversions and fifth in fourth-down conversions.

• The defense has been equally impressive during the streak, allowing 12.9 points per game, 285.6 total yards, 99.4 rushing yards and 186.5 passing yards per game.

• During the streak, the defense has forced 32 takeaways (22 interceptions, 10 fumble recoveries) and have out-scored opponents 124-17 in points-off-turnovers.

OWLS SITTING ON TOP OF THE NATION• Kennesaw State ranks first in the nation in several categories

entering the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs.• The Owls rank first in the nation in rushing (328.5ypg), turnover

margin (+23), and turnovers gained (+34).• Kennesaw State also ranks second in the nation in third-down

conversion percentage (50%) and passes intercepted (23).• KSU also ranks inside the Top 10 nationally in several categories

BURKS’ CAREER YEAR• Junior QB Chandler Burks rushed for a game-high 76

yards on 19 carries last Saturday at No. 3 Jacksonville State.

• He is the first quarterback in Big South history to rush for 1,000 yards and pass for 1,000 yards in a single season.

• Burks also became Kennesaw State’s first 1,000-yard rusher in a season.

• He has accounted for 25 touchdowns this year, breaking his previous KSU record of 22 set in 2016.

• Burks was named Big South’s Offensive Player of the Year and a finalist for the STATS FCS Walter Payton Award. Burks was a four-time Big South Player of the Week winner throughout the season.

• He has rushed for 100 or more yards in three games this season (North Greenville, at Montana State, Monmouth) and has run for at least one touchdown in nine of the Owls’ 13 games.

• The Owls are 9-0 when the quarterback rushes for a touchdown this season.

• During the winning streak, Burks has rushed for a team-high 997 yards on 212 carries, and has completed 59-of-119 passes for 962 yards.

JUST PICKING ON PLANK• Junior DB Jace White’s interception in the third quarter at Jacksonville State last Saturday

extended the Owls’ streak of at least one interception in every game this season. • The Owls 23 interceptions rank second nationally. Keon Roman (four) leads the team,

followed by Bryson Armstrong (three), Taylor Henkle (three), Akebren Ralls (three), Jace White (three), Dorian Walker (two), Anthony Gore, Jr. (two) Three other Owls have one each.

• Kennesaw State’s defense also is second in the nation in interceptions (23), first in turnover margin (+23), fourth in scoring defense (14.1 ppg.), 12th in rushing defense (97.2) and 11th in total defense (287.5)

• KSU’s 34 takeaways and turnover margin (+23) rank first in the nation and hold a 124-17 (+107) margin in points-off-turnover scoring.

week, averaging 328.5 yards per game. The Owls are coming off a 213-yard performance vs. No. 3 Jacksonville State, marking the lowest rushing total all season against the top-rated JSU defense.

• Kennesaw State has out-rushed opponents 4,271-1,263 (+3,008) and hold a 39-9 advantage in rushing touchdowns over the season.

• The Owls’ offense enters Saturday ranked in the FCS Top 10 nationally in rushing offense (1st; 328.5), third down conversions (2nd; 50.3 percent), time of possession (7th; 33:16).

• The Owls, who have the nation’s third-longest winning streak, are averaging 30.9 points, 422.9 total yards, 331.5 rushing yards and 91.4 passing yards during their 12-game winning streak.
