News from Kendall County by Sheryl Krase
Kendall County seems to be getting some changes when it come to the new
map and how we will be represented in government. With the county population now reaching
114,736 people change is in the Air. On the Congressional Side Kendall county will now be
represented in Washington with the 11th and 14 Congressional Districts. On the State Senate Side
Kendall will be represented by four senate districts with Senator Linda Holmes and Senator Chris
Lauzen seeing their portion of Kendall Reduced. On the State House side the county will be
represented also by four state house districts with representative Hatcher and Representative Cross
having their districts being reduced and representing other areas as well. At the County Level there
has been much debate about how to redistrict and how the county can equally be represented. During
public hearings on the districts multiple plans were submitted ranging from 10 district, 9 districts, 5
district proposals, and retaining the 2 district representation plan. At the last ad hoc committee
meeting three proposals were submitted to the board for the board’s final approval, 2 plans for a two
district representation and a five district proposal. The Kendall County Board will be meeting June 7th
to finalize their redistricting for Kendall County.
Chicago Bulls Go Home by Tim Flowers
The Chicago Bulls lost in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Miami Heat 4 games to
1. Behind the big three of James, Wade, Bosh the Bulls could not counter the talent of
the trio. Each game in the series was close but it was evident this team did not have the
core players to shut down the future Hall of Famers who came together in the offseason
in one of the wildest free agent periods of all-time. It is funny if you remember that
Lebron James was in late negations with the Bulls when he made his decision to head to
south beach. The Bulls instead signed Carlos Boozer to add to Joakim Noah and Derrick
Rose to counter the heats talented trio. However like the teams of the late 80’s and early
90’s this team needs a few more pieces before they can advance and look at
championships again being hung in the rafters down at the Mad House on west Madison.
While you are Out by Ken Musich
This is a first for me and a treat at the same time recently I was asked by the editor of
the paper to write an article for our entertainment section and a piece on a local eatery
boot. I chose Paulie’s bar and grill in Aurora located 444 north Eola Road in Aurora.
When you enter you are greeted by Paulie’s himself a young man of 35. You are then either
asked do you want to sit at a table or bar you are given your choice. I chose to sit at the Bar
and was greeted by Kim a wonderful young women who took the time to ask me how my
day was going. Kim suggested some specials and so I ordered the Cesar Salad. A Healthy
Choice and ordered the Ice Tea. During my meal Paulie’s and Kim both took the time to
see how it was going and Paulie’s even sat down and spent time talking to me about the
Chicago Whites Sox and how the team was doing. I found the service and atmosphere to be
delightful and felt at home even thou I had just stopped in for the first time. Paulie’s has
been serving the neighborhoods for four years and if you ask the patrons they find it
delightful especially the patio

With the draft on the Horizon and free agency starting the Bulls need to look to add some
depth and defense on the post. They also should look for a sharp shooter who can
spread the floor to create opportunities for Derrick Rose. The bulls need to add a play
maker and let Rose concentrate on scoring this may pose as a defensive issue against
bigger guards by moving him to shooting guard. Looking to free agency the Bulls need a
scorer in the Center position to create a new dynamic on the floor with a dominate big
man. The Bulls like the dynasty teams needs a few more adjustments and then we can
begin to celebrate in Grant Park.

Right on the corner and Right on the price has been the reputation for the Chevy Giant for almost 34 years. Getting their start in Yorkville a young mechanic named Ron Westphal had a dream and that was to bring the heartbeat of America right here to Kendall County. With a few dollars in his pocket and a vision he set up shop in an old filling station and the Westphal family was born. In 1980 he hired a young man to be a car porter named Dan Schwebke who is now the general manger. All those years ago no one would have dreamed that the Westphal Family would be moving in to their new home on the present site located at 1425 West Ogden Avenue having out grown their current facility. Over the years Westphal has provided top level service from Reta Bohn in the Sales Department to Paul in parts, or Mike and Rick in Service the Westphal Family is here to serve in helping to bring you the that special service that only Westphal can provide. So take an opportunity and stop down to see Westphal Chevy located 1425 West Odgen Ave in Aurora right on the
