Reminders
FROM THE DEPUTIES
Farewell Mrs EdwardsIt was with sadness that we recently received Mrs Edwards’ notification of retirement (letter contained later in newsletter). Mrs Edwards has been the foundation Principal of our school from it’s very opening in 2004 through to today. Over 14 wonderful years, she has inspired both students and staff to achieve and be the very best that they can be. Mrs Edwards has seen the school grow from 132 children in 2004 to over 850 today. She was so passionate about providing a range of extra-curricular opportunities for our students to
shine in such as our outstanding band, choir and music program, dance, drama and sport. We congratulate Mrs Edwards on an outstanding career spanning 39 years and wish her much happiness as she embarks on this next exciting chapter in her life. Thank you for moulding Kellyville Ridge Public School into the outstanding school that is today. We will let our school community know when a retirement function for Mrs Edwards has been organised. In due course, our Educational Director will put in place the process for selection of our new school Principal. We will keep you informed when this happens. In the interim, we are fortunate to have Mrs Maher stepping up into the relieving Principal position. We know that she will do a wonderful job in this role. Mrs Sorensen is now the relieving Deputy Principal for Mrs Maher and Mrs Heaton the relieving Stage 2 Assistant Principal filling in for Mrs Sorensen.

CommunicationAs a school we aim to keep you as up to date as possible. Unfortunately at times, due to our large size there will be occasions where the communication is not as seamless as we would like. To ensure you do not miss out on important notes, information and reminders issued please remember you..* Check your child’s bag regularly for notes;* Download our school app for your smartphone. We post out reminders and notifications and store copies of notes and newsletters sent home;* Keep an eye on our school website (a work in progress) and* Our official school Facebook page is used for celebration of student, staff and school achievements. General reminders will not be posted on Facebook.
Payment for School EventsWe certainly understand that at times for many families, the costs associated with schooling can be high. We always try to give plenty of notice and time allowance for payments to be made for excursions, incursions and other
school activities such as PSSA. For these events, we have a close off time to order buses and pay for bookings issued by the provider. As such, we need to be firm with our final payment dates. Whilst we do not wish to disappoint our students for missing out on events, please understand that if payment is not made by the cutoff date, unfortunately your child/ren may miss out. We currently have a large number of students from our PSSA teams who have not paid their bus fees for Term 3. If these students are not allowed to attend future PSSA games due to unpaid fees, this will impact on their team as they may not have the required numbers of players to compete. Final acceptance for PSSA bus payment is next Friday, 25 August. We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact the school office to discuss possible arrangements.
School PhotosAll the photo proofs for our school photos have been resubmitted back to the School Photographer. Fingers crossed we receive them back to school soon. We will let you know as soon as they arrive.

SRC DISNEY & BOOK CHARACTER DAYWe are all excited for our Disney and Book Character Day taking place next Tuesday, 21 August. I am sure we will see lots of great costumes on display during the day as we raise money for The Children’s Hospital, Westmead. All the information regarding the day is contained on the next page. We are still looking for donation of prizes for the guessing competition. These can be brought to the front office until Tuesday morning. A reminder that this is a student only event.

William L (KM) - A War on WasteInspired by the ABC television show, ‘War on Waste’ – William told his mum that he would like to use his rubbish collector to clean up the park across the road from the school because there was so much rubbish and it’s not good for the environment. For the next 40 minutes, William proceeded to collect as much rubbish as possible to help clean his local environment. He proudly declared after his great efforts that next time he would like to bring 3 bags to fill!Well done William on your worthwhile initiative, we are very proud of you. As a school, we will shortly be looking at further ways to become a more sustainable and environmentally friendly place.

P&C NEWSOn Saturday, 15 September the P&C will be holding a BBQ at Bunnings Rouse Hill. This not only raises funds for the school but it is a great community promotion tool for our school. The BBQ needs to be operated between 9:00am and 4:00pm. If you would like to volunteer some of your time for the BBQ please contact the school office and we can pass your name onto the organising committee.
Our 2018 Twilight Markets are just over 3 months away and approaching rapidly. The Twilight Market Organising Committee will be holding a planning meeting and would love for more people to attend and be involved in helping to organise this fantastic event.
