Wednesdays are College Days
Knight’s Watch, Page 10
With our hearts and minds set on higher education, this school year PfISD campuses will be celebrating College T-Shirt Days every Wednesday. We’ll post photos of students and staff, and you can, too!
On Facebook, look for our College T-Shirt Days post each Wednesday and include photos of your student or staff member – in their college shirt or other gear – in the comments section. On Twitter, include the hashtag #TheRoadToCollege with your photo so we can find it.
Together, we’re all in for students!
7th and 8th grade art students have successfully finished their first art project of the year!
KLMS art students studied Graffiti art and practiced mind mapping to brainstorm ideas for their own name
designs. 8th Grade student, Isabella Cruz, reflected on the project
saying, “ Art is shown everywhere and we pass by it
every day and don’t realize it! So take time to notice it.”
Students are also excited to start their next project
exploring Asian calligraphy.

Traffic Reminders A collaborative meeting was held with members of the KLMS, HHS, and MES schools along with PfISD school officials, PfISD transportation, the City of Pflugerville, Pflu-gerville Police Department and the Pflugerville ISD Police Department. The conges-tion on Falcon Pointe Blvd has rendered it difficult for emergency vehicles to navigate the road; additionally, community members, not associated with the school, cannot drive down Falcon Pointe. With the additional enrollment comes additional traffic and we are at a point where the processes need to change for the safety of everyone in-volved. Starting immediately:
Do not stop on Falcon Pointe if you are waiting to turn into KLMS for student pick up or drop off. If necessary, park along the road (against a curb) to pick up your student. During pick up time, there is no parking along the curb in front of the gym so we can create a turn lane. There is some available parking in the back of the school that can also help.
Please RIGHT TURN ONLY leaving the back parking lot. A significant amount of congestion from the backlog of cars attempting to leave KLMS, thus rendering it im-possible for other parents to turn into the back drive. We are working with the City to make this official, but turning right to allow better traffic flow. This will hopefully alleviate the issue with people stopping on Falcon Pointe Blvd.
Please remember:
Do not let students enter or exit the vehicle if you are in the street. It is safe when you are pulled along side a curb but students running to and from cars in an active lane of traffic is not safe.
Remind your student if they walk to cross at the crosswalk. We have a crossing guard on duty (usually Mrs. Schaefer) starting at 7:45 in the morning until the 8:00 bell and again from 3:35 until 3:50 (end of traffic).
Do not park or stop in the crosswalk. All cars must yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk- with or without a crossing
guard. If a pedestrian is anywhere in the crosswalk, you cannot enter the cross-walk.
If you are trying to pull back into traffic from the curb, it is best to turn on your turn signal before entering traffic. You should enter the main lane of traffic before driv-ing forward (e.g., not making two lanes of traffic).
Do not make "U" turns on Falcon Pointe near the school traffic; this is an especially
dangerous choice for students and the other cars on the road.
