Dear Learner, Welcome to a rather slimmed down version of Keeping Connected. The team here are taking some time to have their annual holiday so we won’t be sending out the next Keeping Connected for 2 weeks. We may be taking a break but that does not mean we are not working hard! In August we will be launching a brand new website that brings Calderdale and Kirklees Recovery Colleges together. In light of this you will notice a change in our name to Calderdale and Kirklees Recovery and Wellbeing College. You may have already spotted a change to our Facebook page which I would strongly encourage you to visit for information and conversation. You can also join our Crafty Crew Group there for sharing ideas and top tips around art and craft activities. I hope you also can take a break from the daily grind and same old -same old, even if it is just for an hour; a day; a week. Stopping the usual pattern of your thinking and filling up your mind with new and different experiences and senses is of great benefit to your wellbeing. Stay safe and well and read on. Movie Night! Russel, Fab Facilitator of The

Golden Age of Hollywood Course has another

classic film recommendation for us. So get

the popcorn ready, sit back and

enjoy the show……

Double Indemnity (1944) Starring Fred MacMurray, Barbara Stanwyck & Edward G Robinson

“I killed him for the money – and for a woman. I didn’t get the money. And I didn’t get the woman.” So runs the opening line of this fascinating movie....

Told in flashback by Walter Neff (MacMurray) we learn that he is snared by Phyllis into an affair and talked into an insurance scam to murder her husband. Once carried out.....the question is who will be the next victim? And will Edward G Robinson as an Insurance Investigator discover who the murderer is?

Culture Club…… here is a classic from

Emily Dickinson, one of her most famous

and most loved poems. Enjoy.

“Hope” is the thing with feathers - That perches in the soul - And sings the tune without the words - And never stops - at all - And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard - And sore must be the storm - That could abash the little Bird That kept so many warm - I’ve heard it in the chillest land - And on the strangest Sea - Yet - never - in Extremity, It asked a crumb - of me.
