Bordered by the UAE, Saudi Arabia & Yemen.
Oman also shares marine borders with
Iran & Pakistan.

Population
From the 17th-19th centuries, Oman was a powerful empire.
Oman is an absolute monarchy. The Sultan has been the hereditary leader since 1970.
Oman fell under control of the
Muslims in the 7th
century A.D.They were one of the
first countries to accept Islam.
Most of Oman is Muslim. More than half are Ibadi
which predates Sunni & Shia by 20 years. They are strict
adherents to Sharia Law, but more tolerant towards other
religions.

The Sultan does NOT tolerate criticism & Omani citizens have
very few rights.

have resorted to using donkeys as
