Warm greetings and welcome to the twelfth edition of KEC Newsletter ! This semester, the intellectual environment of KEC was stimulated by yet another international conference held by OKRP, the Office of KEC Research and Publication, led by Er. Pratima Pradhan. The conference proved to be a platform of knowledge sharing amongst the national and international researchers. The mental, physical and emotional wellbeing of the students, faculty and staff have always been the priority of KEC. It is with this intent that KEC organised a series of Art of Living courses, suitably tailored for the participants. It was yet another proud moment for KEC when the student of KEC, 2068 Batch Architecture, Ar.Darshana Dhaubanjar won the prestigious “Chatra Vidhya Padakfor being the topper girl student in engineering faculty of 2073. Moreover, it is with great pride that we mention here the winning of various competitions by our students: The Smart Meter designed by students of Electical faculty won the first position while the Rotrowar designed by students of EPC club won the second position in LOCUS 2018, the Robotics club of KEC won the “Best Engineering Award” in IOE ROBOCON 2018, the students of Computer Engineering won the first position for their “On-Hover Text-To-Speech Synthesizer” in City Leap organized by Leapfrog Hackathon. Nevertheless, faculty member Sr. Lec. Subash Phuyal and a group of 3rd Year students of Architecture were invited to participate and receive jury appreciation award at the Yuva Ratna Award ceremony organised in Mumbai by the Birla Group. We at KEC are striving towards excellence and hope to provide quality technical education to the talented minds from all over Nepal. In this regard, we would like to thank all the stakeholders, students, parents and well-wishers for their continual support to this institution to attain overall academic excellence. Namaskar !! Warm greetings and welcome to the twelfth edition of KEC Newsletter ! This semester, the intellectual environment of KEC was stimulated by yet another international conference held by OKRP, the Office of KEC Research and Publication, led by Er. Pratima Pradhan. The conference proved to be a platform of knowledge sharing amongst the national and international researchers.

The mental, physical and emotional wellbeing of the students, faculty and staff have always been the priority of KEC. It is with this intent that KEC organised a series of Art of Living courses, suitably tailored for the participants. It was yet another proud moment for KEC when the student of KEC, 2068 Batch Architecture, Ar.Darshana Dhaubanjar won the prestigious “Chatra Vidhya Padak” for being the topper girl student in engineering faculty of 2073. Kathmandu Engineering College organized a two-day academic enhancement program at Jarsing Pauwa Resort, 2 and 3 Asoj 2074. The chairman, principal, board members, advisors, heads of departments, faculty members and senior staffs of the college participated in the program. The event comprised of workshops along with refreshment and recreational activities.On the first day of the program, the heads of various departments conducted presentations incorporating the analysis of results, review of strategies, and plans for the coming semester.Similarly, on the second day, advisors of various departments gave a review on their respective

departments stressing on the need to focus on critical subjects. Board member Mr. Ram Prasad Dahal shared his view on the previous day’s presentation. Also, Asso. Prof Chand S. Rana, principal of the college, thanked everyone for their hard works. The program concluded with the closing remark from the chairman, Prof. Hirendra Man Pradhan, congratulating each department for their improved academic performance. He further highlighted the challenges of a teacher in order to liberate an individual, the student, by imparting quality education. The two-day program was a platform for interdepartmental interaction amongst the faculty members.

ACADEMIC ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM, Jarsing Pauwa Resort, 2 and 3 Asoj 2074

KEC ALUMNI MEET , 11 Kartik 2074

The KEC Alumni Association held a meeting in the presence of the chairman, principal, vice principal and faculty members of the college at the premises of Kathmandu Engineering College. The meet enabled in bringing together the alumni of the college who have been working in various prominent positions in Nepal

and abroad. The participants shared about their professional experiences and inspired the newly passed out students of the college. The meeting concluded with the discussion on the ways to bring a maximum number of graduates under this umbrella association and work for further overall enhancement.

Office of KEC Research and Publication (OKRP) organized a one-day conference at KEC premises on 9 Mangsir 2074. The program had an enthusiastic participation from academicians to researchers and was jointly inaugurated by the chief guest of the program, Dean of IOE, Prof. Dr. Tri Ratna Bajracharya and the chairman of KEC, Prof. Hirendra Man Pradhan. The program

started with the welcome speech from the chairman followed by a speech from the chief guest and conference highlights from the chief Editor, Prof. Dr. Dinesh Kumar Sharma. OKRP is an annual event of KEC established in order to promote research activities under the initiation and leadership of Er. Pratima Pradhan, supported by dedicated researchers Asso. Prof. Anmol

In the general session chaired by Prof. Hirendra Man Pradhan, all the distinguished speakers gave their presentations on the wide range of topics from present-day energy scenario of Nepal to DNA models. The speakers included Prof. Dr. Shailendra Kumar Mishra, advisor to the Department of Science and Humanities; Dr. Vishnu Prasad Pandey, currently a faculty member at Asian Institute of Technology and

Management (AITM); Dr. Rabin Shrestha, Senior Energy Specialist at the World Bank and a visiting faculty member at Asian Institute of Technology, Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University; Prof. Dr. Subarna Shakya, a member at National Information Technology Advisory Committee, Government of Nepal, and Board of Studies, South Asian University, New Delhi India; and Prof. Mouhaydine Tlemcani, Director of Mechatronic Engineering Course, Department

of Physics, University of Evora, Portugal. There were three independent paper presentation sessions on Electronics & Communication and Computer, Architecture, and Electrical Engineering chaired by Prof. Dr. Dinesh Kumar Shrestha, Ar. Chand S. Rana, and Prof. Dr. Indra Man Tamrakar respectively. The session-I included paper presentations on cloud computing, data transmission with LED, 5G communication and so on. Furthermore, in

the second session authors from Architecture delivered the presentation regarding the building technology, waste management and reestablishment of Dhaneshswor Nath Mahadev complex which garnered significant attraction. The third and the last session included electrical engineers and researchers delivering their research in various aspects related to the fields such as wireless power transfer, grid security etc.

Kathmandu Engineering College has been organizing events on public speaking on every Friday from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm for the past six months, coordinated by Asso. Prof. Mahesh Singh Kathayat, Advisor to the Department of Computer Engineering. The main objectives of the

program are to enhance the communication skills among the faculty members, share the domain-specific knowledge and develop harmony among people. The program has significantly helped to develop time management skills and build confidence in the faculty members.

Kathmandu Engineering College organized an inter-college one-day FUTSAL tournament for the faculty members at the premises of United FUTSAL in Bafal on 1 Chaitra, 2074. The event was attended by the Chairman, Vice-Principal and faculty members from KEC including representatives from other institutions. The Chairman of KEC, Prof. Hirendra Man

Pradhan inaugurated the event amid overwhelming participation from the faculty members from eight different engineering colleges of the Kathmandu valley. This included teams from Kathmandu Engineering College, National College of Engineering, Janakpur Engineering College, Kathford College of Engineering and Management, Advanced College of Engineering and Management, Himalaya College of Engineering, Sagarmatha Engineering College, and Universal Engineering and Science College. In the game played among ten teams, one from each college and three from the organizer KEC, Advanced College of Engineering and Management bagged the title of the winner with two goals against Kathford College of Engineering. The friendly game was organized in order to maintain goodwill, harmony, and cooperation among academicians from engineering fraternity.

KEC INTER-TECHNICAL FUTSAL TOURNAMENT , 1 chaitra 2074

Kathmandu Engineering College organized a program to felicitate top students and award-winning faculty member at the premises of KEC on 26 Magh. Topper students of each faculty were awarded based on their academic excellence in the previous semester.Moreover teachers from each department were recognized as best teacher of the year. Asso. Kathmandu Engineering College organized a three-day workshop on the art of living, iExcel, iIntegrate- Excellence at Workplace, to its 91 faculty members and staffs at the premises of KEC on 4, 5 and 6 Chaitra, 2074. A corporate training program of Art of Living (AOL) Foundation, the workshop was facilitated by corporate trainer Ms. Neeva M. Pradhan. Ms. Pradhan is an international corporate trainer, board of Director at APEX and has a 15 year background in the banking industry working at Federal Credit Union US as a Vice President. She is also actively involved in various social and humanitarian works and activities. During the workshop, she trained the attendees on

different postures of yogic exercises, Sudarshan Kriya, and some stress management techniques. On the first day of the program, the trainer Mrs. Pradhan introduced AOL to the audience followed by formation of ten different groups from the attendees. The basic skills on leadership and public speaking were taught with active participation from all the fellow attendees. In the second day, Sudarshan Kriya – a powerful technique on breathing and other yogic exercises were practiced at length. The corporate training program was aimed at improving the leadership ability, communication skills along with stress management techniques. On the final day, feedbacks were taken from the attendees. During the feedback session, one of the participants Asst. Lec. Bhuban Dhamala expressed that he had always taken breathing for granted, and that his perception changed after the session. The principal of KEC, Asso. Prof. Chand S. Rana expressed that the program will significantly help to reflect upon the self. In the concluding speech, the chairman of KEC, Prof. Hirendra Man Pradhan stressed on the discipline of body, mind and soul. The three-day program was successful in rejuvenating the inner self of the attendees.

GThe Department of Civil Engineering organized a Survey Camp for Year III Part I students at Budhanilkantha School from 20 to 30 Aswin 2074. A total of 121 students participated in the camp which was coordinated by 12 teachers and assisted by 8 staff members. The eleven-day survey camp was organized in order to upgrade knowledge of third-year students in survey and to ensure that the students are able to handle instruments efficiently and confidently conduct engineering survey with the required level of accuracy and efficiency. Besides, the camp was able to significantly improve professionalism in the students. Also, the survey camp aimed at

improving the skills of team work, coordination and decision making amongst the students.

SURVEY CAMP, 20– 30 Aswin 2074

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a geological field visit to Malekhu for the students of Year II Part I of Bachelor in Civil Engineering from 13 Poush to 16 Poush 2074. A total of 121 students went for the trip and were coordinated by Lec. Harshikesh Karna, Lec. Rama Thapa, Asst. Lec. Sunil Rakhal, and Geologists Ms. Mamata Sayami and Ms. Rosina Mali. The main objective of the field visit was to familiarize second-year students with different types of rocks and geological features on earth surface.

GEOLOGY FIELD VISIT,13 –16 Poush 2074

The Department of Civil Engineering has been conducting special training programs on Structural Analysis Program (SAP) and AutoCAD for final year students of Bachelor in Civil Engineering from Poush 2074 in order to facilitate them will the skills needed

to do final year projects, especially related to the design and construction of buildings. This year’s training was conducted by Lec. Shishir Rijal, Lec. Harshikesh Karna, Lec. Rama Thapa and Lec. Albert Dahal. A total of 60 students were enrolled in the class.

STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS PROGRAM AND AUTOCAD TRAINING, 15 Poush 2074 to Present

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a three -day field visit to Kharichaur for the students of Year IV Part I from 15 to 17 Poush 2074. The field visit was attended by 121 students and coordinated by faculty members

namely Asso. Prof. Ishwor Adhikari and Sr. Lec. Bikash Raj Joshi. The field visit was organized to familiarize students with the different types of road structures, road construction, cross drainage system and pavement etc.

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a three-day Field Visit for Year IV Part I students at Sunkoshi Hydropower in Lama Sanghu from 26 Magh to 28 Magh 2074. A total of 121 students participated and were facilitated by four faculty members of the department namely Asst. Lec. Sudhan Lamichhane, Lec. Rajan Nhemaphuki, Er. Anup Khanal, and Er. Birendra Kumar Pathak. The main objective of the visit was to familiarize the final year students with different components of hydropower plant form Headworks to Tailrace.

HYDROLOGY FIELD VISIT, 3-5 Falgun 2074

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a three- day hydrology filed visit to Dolalghat, Kavre for the students of Year III Part I of Bachelor in Civil Engineering from 3 to 5 Falgun 2074. The trip was attended by a total of 121 students and was facilitated by faculty members namely Lec. Tirtha Raj Karki , Lec. Harshikesh Karna, and Er. Laxmi Chaudhary. The main objective of the visit was to teach the students to measure the discharge of river using methods prescribed in the IOE syllabus.

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, KEC organized a four-day educational tour to Pokhara and Sauraha from 1 to 4 Mangsir 2074. The tour was attended by III-Year students of Bachelors of Electronics Engineering and was facilitated by Asso. Prof. Sagun Manandhar, Head of

Department, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Lec. Ravi Poudel, and senior officers Mr. Rajesh Dhakal and Mrs. Bijeta Poudel Dhakal. The main objective of the visit was to expose students to technological advancement, particularly in the field of communication, happening around the country.

LOCUS is an annual program organized by the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus. This year event was held on 20 and 21 Magh 2074, and the students of Electronics and Communication Engineering of KEC along with members from Robotics Club and EPC Club enthusiastically participated in different hardware and software competitions. Robotics Club KEC built a Smart Car-an automatic pathfinder, and a Smart Gas Meter- an automatic gas monitor, and EPC Club made Rotrowar which managed to secure the second position in the competition.

The participation of the students from KEC in LOCUS 2018 was facilitated by Sr. Lec. Shankar Gangaju and Lec. Gaurav Gautam.

The Robotics Club of KEC participated in a national level robotics competition organized by the Centre for Applied Research and Development (CARD) Pulchowk, Lalitpur at Army Training Center, Lagankhel, Lalitpur

from 3 to 5 Falgun, 2074. In the three-day program, students from the Robotics Club competed with different national teams and won “Best Engineering Award.” The event was facilitated by Lec. Gaurav Gautam.

Students from III and IV Year of Bachelors of Electronics and Communication Engineering visited different Industrial Plants located in Kathmandu Valley as a part of field visit requirement of the courses Instrumentation II and Organization & Management respectively, from 8 to 12 Falgun, 2074. The main objectives of the visit were to study different control systems used in the automated industry

and make a technical recommendation to make the production more efficient. Some of the sites students visited were Real Time Solution Pvt. Ltd., Pinky Sweater Udhyog, IT Training Nepal Pvt. Ltd., Classic Tech Pvt. Ltd., Radio Nepal, Phoenix Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Barun Beverage Pvt. Ltd., Bottlers Nepal Pvt. Ltd., Ncell Pvt. Ltd., and Nepal Telecom.

The Department of Electrical Engineering organized a five-day visit from 2 to 6 Mangsir for the students in fifth semester of Bachelor in Electrical Engineering. The students visited Sauraha; National Electrical Turbine Manufacturer, Butwal; Seti Hydro Power Station and Phewa Hydro Power Station, Pokhara and Marsyangdi Hydro Power, Mugling. The main objective of the tour was to introduce students

The LOCUS 2018 was organized by Institute of Engineering at the Pulchowk Campus from 6th

to 10 Magh 2074. Students from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Year III/ Part I namely Ms. Astha Rai, Mr. Kafka Yogen Dongol, and Mr. Sandesh Dhungana participated in the four-day tech-event held at the premises of Pulchowk Campus, and Nepal Engineers ’Assoc ia t ion (NEA) building, Lalitpur.

The team of KEC secured the first position in the competition under the category Alternative Energy for their presentation on “Inverter of PV- Solar System as STATCOM.”In the first day of the event, a short description of the topic was presented, followed by two days workshop at Pulchowk Campus. The program ended on the fourth day with the presentation of the project.

Energy Hackathon was an event of LOCUS 2018 organized at the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus on 6 – 10 Magh 2074. In the five-day event, different electricity-related problems of Nepal were discussed under the topics Alternative Energy, Demand Side Management, and

Energy Efficiency. Students and experts from different sectors were invited to discuss and discover solutions to the existing problems related to electricity generation, transmission, and distribution. Students from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Year IV/Part I namely Mr. Milan Subedi, Mr. Bijay Sadashankar

Sunar, Mr. Pujan Budhathoki, and Mr. Saroj Kumar Sah under the team MSBP participated in the competition under the category “Demand Side Management”. The team designed and implemented a special type of meter: “SMART METER” with the feature of variable tariff and managed to secure first position.The team was highly appreciated by the experts from Alternative Energy Promotion Center and Professors from Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus for implementing a novel idea of Nash Equilibrium in the demand side management of load. The concept is an eye opener for the policymakers who are taking responsibilities of addressing energy demand of the country.

Students from the Department of Computer Engineering, KEC participated in the CityLeap organized by Leapfrog Hackathon. The participants namely Amit Chaudhary, Enosh Shrestha, and Kamal Paneru made a data-driven urban planning tool that helps City Government and Mayors to see the full picture of the progress of the city and enables them to center their focus on what they are lacking. The tool captures urban information of many kinds, including air quality, traffic status, waste and much more. The team secured the second position in the event.

Students from the Department of Computer Engineering, KEC participated in a two-day Yomari Code Camp organized by LIS Nepal Pvt. Ltd.at the premises of Institute of Engineering (IOE), Pulchowk Campus. The team ‘Floating Faces' consisting of III-Year students namely Pragyan Subedhi and Merishna Singh Suwal won the first prize for their project 'On-hover text-to-speech synthesizer' and was awarded a monetary reward of NRs. 12,000 as well as a direct internship interview opportunity at Yomari, an IT company in Nepal.Besides, the team consisting of Manish Parajuli, Krishna Sapkota, and Rabin Raj Gautam became first runner-up in the competition. They made an android application Ek-Yatri, A Travel App which shows a list of all travel agencies from

around Nepal that gives a fair price of all the travel packages available. It was all based on a concept of providing travel details to the end user for the ease of traveling. The Yomari Code Camp 2018 was a two -day long coding competition organized by Yomari held at IOE, Pulchowk as a big highlight of the LOCUS 2018 event. The first day included idea pitching followed by a day-long coding where mentors helped the teams in developing their ideas further. The first day ended with a team of judges judging the ideas.On the second day, more than fifteen teams presented their ideas along with a short demo of what they had made on the

first day. The team 'Floating Faces' presented their newly-built software ‘On-hover text-to-speech synthesizer' which was a Google Chrome extension that could speak out text on web pages on the basis of mouse movement and text hover making websites accessible for the visually impaired. Representing the category, the project was selected on Open Innovation; a unique use of the mouse in the project led the team in winning the hearts of the judges. The software included features like pause and resume of narration, differentiation on clickable links, buttons, input fields, etc.

REA thesis Exhibition showcasing the thesis works of graduating batch of 2069 was held at the Department of Architecture of Institute of engineering, Pulchowk campus on 4 Ashwin 2074. The selected theses from three colleges affiliated to Tribhuwan University- Institute of Engineering Pulchowk Campus, Kathmandu Engineering College and Himalaya college of Engineering were exhibited during the event. A total of 50 theses were exhibited there and among those, 25 theses were exhibited from KEC. The exhibition had huge participation of students, professionals and faculty members from all colleges. This is an annual event jointly organized by the above colleges in coordination with Asian Paints Nepal.

The 6th Asian Paints Awards ceremony was jointly

organized by Kathmandu Engineering College and Asian Paints at KEC seminar hall on

6 Kartik 2074. There were 27 students participating the

competition, out of which 12 students were selected for the final presentation.

During the ceremony, awards were distributed to top three winners of the competition. Top 5 students- Ms. Dil Kumari Thapa, Mr. Sanish Maharjan, Ms. Santwana Malakar, Mr. Nekesh Maharjan were announced as participants for the 4th National Level competition. The competition was organized on the theme ‘The club house- A leisure hub’. The final jury members were Ar. Shakti Man Dongol from Design Consultant P. Ltd. And Ar. Amber Tamang from Eastweast Engineering Services.

Sr. Lec. Subash Phuyal gave presentation on his paper Perspective in using BIM technology in Nepal. He explained different obstacles in using BIM and its efficiency in comparison to tits contemporary Computer Aided Design method being practiced in Nepal. Despite the limitations, he was able to conclude that BIM is an efficient tool for design development phase in Nepal.

The Department of architecture organized an orientation for students of 2074 and their parents on 13 Kartik 2074 at the college premise. The program was attended by Asso. KEC’s Department of Architecture organized a lecture by former faculty Ar. Ajay Silwal on his work experience in an Australian consultancy called ‘The Buchan Group’. A total of 50 students of batch 2072 attended the lecture. He presented the workflow and design process done in his firm. REThe Department Of Architecture organized a field visit for students of year I part I to Bhaktapur Brick and Tile Factory Pvt. Ltd. located in Jagati on 13 Mangsir 2074. The visit was conducted as per the course requirement for the subject ‘Building Material I’ and was attended by 48 students.

Sr. Lec. Subash Phuyal and Lec. Sagun Maharjan coordinated the program. The main objective of the visit was to gain practical knowledge about brick, one of the most widely used building material in Nepal, and observe its manufacturing process.

FIELD VISIT OF FIRST YEAR 2074 BATCH AT BHAKTAPUR BRICK AND TILE INDUSTRY, 13 Mangsir 2074

The all Nepal architecture Students’ Design Competition was launched by the Asian Paints Nepal Pvt. Ltd. on 1 Poush 2074 titled “University students Center” at Kirtipur. Students from each architecture colleges of Nepal colleges of Nepal participated in this competition. Each college was represented by top 5 students, selected by the college. Dil Kumari Thapa, Sanish Maharjan, Santwana Malakar, Swadhin Ratna Tuladhar and Neekesh Maharjan were the candidates from KEC. THese students were taken on 3 days tour at Sauraha from 7 to 9 Poush followed by Asian

Paints factory visit at Hetauda. The submission deadline for the competition was at Asian Paints Head office on 9 Magh 2074. All five students from our college were selected in top 15. On 2 Falgun 2074, final presentation was held at Hotel

A four days tour to Pokhara was conducted by the department for 55 students for the course works of Landscape design and Housing from 27 to 30tPoush 2074. The group was taken to Karmachari Sanchaya Kosh Aabash (Birauta Chowk), SOS Village (Pardi), International Mountain Museum and Fishtail Lodge for their study. Annual National Association of Students of architecture (NASA) convention is the largest student gathering of the students of architecture in South Asia. The convention was attended by 500 faculty and 3000 students from the field of architecture from across India and other countries like Nepal. 24 architecture students of year III from Kathmandu Engineering College visited DC school of Architecture and Design in Vagamon, Kerala to participate in the 60th annual NASA convention and

educational tour from 6 to 24 Magh. At the convention, students participated in various workshops, lectures and seminars. The group also used this opportunity to visit different places in India, relevant to architectural studies and for recreation. The cities visited were Mumbai, Goa and Delhi. Students were accompanied by Sr. Lec. Subash Phuyal and Lec. Danking Bahadur Bhujel.

48 students of First year were assigned a project of ‘Light Sculpture’ to design and demonstrate how space, enclosure and structure complement each other to generate a form and to create a special ambience when lit. 8 groups of students used the dark corridor wall space of 4 floor of college building and displayed their 8 models to the chairman, faculties and students. The course instructors of first year students were Sr. Lec. Suchita Bajracharya, Lec. Pratibha Manandhar, Lec. Sagun Maharjan and Lec. Danking Bahadur Bhujel.

The 14th Birla White Yuvaratna Award Ceremony was organized by Birla White India at the Lalit Plaza, Mumbai on 2nd Chaitra. Group of 5 students had participated in the competition during 60th NASA convention. At the ceremony, KEC students received Jury Appreciation Award on project ‘Kumari- The living goddess’ reflecting the culture of our country, Nepal. Robotics Club conducted a talk- program on Machine Learning and its application on human health on 11 Falgun 2074 at the premises of KEC. Mr. Nicholas Bedworth, founder of a non-profit organization SocialEyes was the chief guest of the program. The program was also attended by Mr. Saman Man Pradhan from “Center for Molecular Dynamics Nepal” and the students from KEC. Mr. Bedworth talked about MARVIN, an android application that lets patients check diseases with the help of an image of a retina. The application can be operated by a non-trained person from a remote place, where hospital facilities are not easily accessible. Mr. Saman Man Pradhan

Robotics Club KEC conducted a workshop on BCD to 7-Segment Display on 16 Poush 2074 at the premises of KEC. A total of 44 students participated in the workshop, and were trained on soldering, seven segment display and IC 4511. A soldering competition was organized with two in each team, and the winning team was rewarded with Arduino Mega. The program ended with the distribution of certificates to all attendees.

The sessions of public speaking and time management were conducted for the first year students to help them become familiar with Architecture as it is a completely different subject where a lot of dedication is required. Time management and speaking are very important skills that every architecture student needs to develop. 7th Archi phy-ex was organized by the students from all batches of architecture faculty. The main objective of the event was the interaction between all the students of architecture. It mostly focused towards interaction among 1st year and other batches.This event included a friendly futsal match between all the batches where there was participation of more than 100 students. Kathmandu Engineering College in coordination with Art of Living foundation, organized a series of Art of Living Happiness program workshops at the KEC Seminar Hall for the first year students. The programme focuses on a distinctive and profound breathing technique, Sudarshan Kriya, that restores body, mind and spirit to its natural cadence. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Sakuna Dani, teacher of Art of Living. Moreover, students from KEC formed the “Happiness Club” with Dr. Sakuna Dani as the founder and Ms. Manita Shrestha as the president of the club. The club was established with the aim of extending hands to the underprivileged people, bringing changes in the day to day life of students by introducing them with different yogic exercises thereby promoting quality living and quality learning. The club was officially

formed on the 29th of Poush in the presence of the chairman, principal, vice principal, heads of various departments and personnels from the Art of Living Foundation. Ms. Neeva M Pradhan, a prominent resource person of the foundation, was invited as a special guest in the event. The club conducts a regular session of exercises and satsanga every Friday from 4:30 to 5:30 PM in order to reduce stress in the students and create a productive and healthy environment.

Free Student Council (FSU) organized a felicitation program for outstanding students of Batch-2074 with certificates and token of appreciation on 28 Poush 2074. In addition, study materials of various subjects were distributed in soft-copies to the first year students.

FSC organized an inter-technical futsal tournament for students of various engineering colleges at Mates Futsal, Tahachal on 6 and 8 Falgun 2074. Advanced College of Engineering bagged the title of winner and Kathmandu Engineering College became the first runner up. The event was attended by the Vice-Principal of KEC, faculty members and students from different colleges.
