KC PUBLIC SCHOOL CELEBRATES 19TH ANNUAL DAY
The 19th Annual Day of KC Public School was celebrated on Sunday, De-
cember 10, 2017 at the Zorawar Singh Auditorium of Jammu University at 2
p.m. About 1400 parents and invited guests were present on the occasion.
The function was presided over by Shri Lal Singh, Minister of Forests, Ecol-
ogy & Environment, Government of J&K. It began with lighting of the cere-
monial lamp by the Chief Guest followed by an invocation dance dedicated
to Lord Ganesha. Principal Amarendra Mishra delivered the welcome ad-
dress. The next item was a musical composition by students of senior school
based on the work of legendary musical genius Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
It was a combination of vocal and instrumental music praying for peace,
brotherhood and harmony on Earth. It was followed by presentation of a re-
port by members of Students’ Council on various activities of the school dur-
ing current academic year.
The report was followed by an English dance-drama ‘Alice in Wonderland’
performed by students of Class V. The play was the dramatized version of a
fantasy novel written by Lewis Carroll in which a girl named Alice falls
through a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by anthropomorphic
creatures. The play, presented in Broadway style, earned vociferous applause
from the audience.
After the English play, Chief Guest gave away awards to students for their
achievement in academic, sports and extra-curricular activities. The Chief
Guest in his speech congratulated the school for its achievements and appre-
ciated the quality of education being imparted to the children of Jammu.
In his thanks-giving speech, Chairman of the school Raju Chowdhary dwelt
on the educational ethos of the school envisioned by his father Shri Sudar-
shan Mahajan two decades ago. He shared his resolve to sustain that ethos
with complete commitment and dedication.
The concluding item of the function was a spectacular dance-drama ‘The
Legend of Mother Ganga’ in Hindi presented by more than 300 students of
senior school. The theme of the play revolved around the issue of environ-
mental conservation, brought forth the significance of water as the most pre-
cious natural resource on planet earth and underlined the need to conserve it
for future generations.
The function concluded with the National Anthem.

ROUND SQUARE CENTRE INAUGURATED KC Public School is the only school in Jammu & Kashmir to be granted membership of Round
Square — a prestigious association of 180 exclusive schools from all over the world who
strongly believe in the educational philosophy of Kurt Hahn based on six IDEALS, namely,
Democracy, Internationalism, Environmentalism, Leadership, Adventure and Service.
A newly constructed Round Square Centre on school campus was inaugurated on Dec 27 with
a simple ceremony attended by invited parents and presided over by Shri Manav Gupta, KAS,
as the Chief Guest. Also present on the occasion were Chairman Raju Chowdhary and School
Managing Director Arti Chowdhary.
The ceremony began with cutting of the ribbon by the Chief Guest at the entrance to the Centre
which houses a photo gallery displaying creative work of students and a well-equipped hall
used extensively for orientation and training programmes for students and staff and for holding
live video conferences with partner schools from all over the world under the aegis of the
Round Square and British Council’s International School Awards programme.
The Head Girl of the School Akshita Mengi welcomed the Chief Guest and the invited parents
to the function, expressing feelings of joy and pride on being a student of a Round Square
school. After her welcome address, students of the school who have attended numerous Round
Square regional, global and international conferences and MUN sessions during 2017 present-
ed their views and experiences and were equivocal in their opinion that the Round Square ex-
perience had made them acquire and appreciate a wide range of skills which are well defined in
the Round Square Discovery Framework (RSDF).
In his address, Mr Gupta congratulated the school and its students for their achievements
through Round Square and wished them well in their future association with top schools from
across the globe.
Ribhav Mittal, Round Square Prefect of Students’ Council, thanked the Chief Guest, members
of management and parents for their presence at the inauguration function. The function con-
cluded with the National Anthem.

COMMERCE STUDENTS ORGANIZE 2ND EDITION OF HIVER FEST 2017
Students of KC Public School pursuing Commerce stream of studies in class XI organized the 2nd edi-
tion of ‘HIVER FEST 2017’ on the school grounds on December 22 to give practical shape to their stud-
ies in entrepreneurship as part of their course curriculum consisting of Business Studies, Accountancy
and Economics. The entire class was involved in planning and organizing the Fest.
Emulating the role of start-up entrepreneurs, they decided to raise the capital for the enterprise through
personal fund raising and by arranging sponsorship for the event. They also decided to sell entry-cum-
lucky draw tickets as part of their capital raising campaign. It was a practical and hands-on experience
for them about marginal efficiency of capital and expected returns from their investment. The Fest was
set up keeping in mind the demand of the prospective consumers in the shape of all other students of
KCPS. With a view to maximizing sales, the prices of commodities and services on sale such as food and
games were fixed with minimum profit margins.
The Fest turned out to be quite successful as all the students of the school from class 1 to 12 enjoyed
themselves at the venue on a sunny and warm day. All the stalls offering food and skill games were
heavily crowded. A rock band on stage and a juke-box on demand gave the event a festive appearance.
Banners of major sponsors formed the backdrop of the main stage on which lucky draws were an-
nounced at the end of the event.
Mrs Arti Chowdhary, Managing Director, and members of Management Mr Arjun Chowdhary and Sid-
dhant Chowdhary graced the occasion with their presence and gave away awards to lucky winners.
