fiberopticslab,manufacturing,andofficefacility.A12,000sfmezzanineadditionwas

alsobuiltaspartoftheprojectfortheAustralian-based,internationally-recognized

manufacturerandsupplierofengineeredopticalfibers.

Nufern’sexactingrequirementsincludedtheconstructionofseveralcleanroomsanda

complex,high-capacityHVACsystemneededtopreciselycontroltheinterior

environmentanddissipateheatgeneratedinthemanufacturingprocess.Specialized

pipingwasrequiredtohandletheindustrialgasesusedinproduction.Weworked

collaborativelywiththeclientandthearchitecttokeeptheprojectonits8-month,

fast-trackschedulewithoutcompromisingthebudget.Acomprehensivesafetyprogram

wasdevelopedandimplementedtomanagethehazardsofthehighlycorrosiveand

explosivegasesandchemicalsusedinmanufacturingoperations.

walkingassistance.ConstructionrequiredtheintegrationofnewM|E|Psystemstomeettheclinic’soperationalrequirements.Additionalscopeofwork

includedinstallationofChilledWaterSystems,Telephone/Data,Security,FireAlarm,PowerDistribution,Lighting.

Theworkwascompletedwhilethebuildingwasfullyoccupiedandoperational.

multi-physics,biology,chemistry,earthscienceandanimal

ALEEDSilvercertifiedbuilding,specializedsystemswere

installed,suchasagray-watersystemwhichreuseswaterfrom

thelabsandprocessestoflushtoiletsandarainwatercapture

systemtowatertheplantlifearoundthebuilding.
