About KatnissI am the winner of the 74th Hunger Games. My name comes from the katniss plant (also known as the arrowhead). My dad used to say as long as I could “find myself” I would never go hungry. My name reminds me of my father and of my survival skills. I don’t make friends very easily because I can be rather blunt and cold speaking in matters of fact. For those who can get past that I have a warm side shown around my family, and my best friend, Gale. I am an independent survivalist, lethal, but good at thinking outside the box because I have had to support my family since my father died in a mine explosion.Peeta, Haymitch, and Gale all say I am very strong, stubborn and determined because I will do anything to survive or to help those I love. During the Hunger Games I enraged the gamemakers by looking for a way for both Peeta and I to survive. As a result, we were the first ever pair to win. I hope now to go back to my normal life and forget about the games forever

This is the moment that sponsors had been waiting for, my first kiss with Peeta. The crowds went wild for our star-crossed lovers routine. Every feeling in the arena is amplified and this kiss made me feel something I never had before, and, more importantly, it brought us food.

Happy Hunger Games winners. When it was finally over(or so we thought) and we were both feeling genuine happiness. This moment was not to last though, the Capitol quickly changed the rules to try and pit Peeta and I against eachother again.

Gale and I with his mom and little brother. Everyone says we look like cousins, but everyone in the Seam kind of does. The Hawthornes are like family to me and I love them.

Cinna even designed matching sleepwear for Peeta and I for the train ride and the nights leading up to the Hunger Games. I should have known that the strategy would be for us to be a couple. Look at us!

Every network carries coverage of the Hunger Games because it is required viewing through all Panem. Deaths, injuries and other perils are the highlights of the show. A tribute can be dying a slow awful death of exposure and all the Capitol will do is film it. This is me after the explosion at the Careers’ camp. I lost my hearing, but they lost their food.
